Gimme your Stuff and I'll Give you Mine

It was dark, damp and cold. The Cowboy had never really planned his test facility to be light and bright. He chuckled, realizing he should of brought a table in. He was meeting the owner of "Fire for Effect" of course, trying to work some basic partnership out.

He also realized he probably should of called a stop to the research and design of the new engines he was having built, but there wasn't any time to do that now. All he could do was wait, wait for [member="Kaul Dusat"] to arrive.

Unloading from their transports at the guarded perimeter outside, and escorted through the dark tunnels, perfect for hidden weapons or traps, Sere Reene, like most of her associates, never went anywhere unguarded. Her Master was fond of using Noghri’s because they couldn’t be bought, not once they’d sworn. Sere today had four Noghri commandos, along with her usual entourage of a couple of weequays, trandoshans and rodians, all told about twelve mercs. Being a weapons manufacturer, the weaponry they were sporting was cutting edge, and they’d brought a few crates in trade to Xander, if things went well, brand new never fired guns.

Sere’s voice hissed at the door, Sluissi were completely calm by nature, even a hybrid like her, “Business’sss good?” She hissed her snake-like tongue, winding the lower half of her body around to the otherside of the room. The Noghri of course checked the room out, standing around her, while the rodians and weequay hauled up the cargo in front of them.

A free vonginator 500 tensor rifle was tossed to one of Xander’s men, just an hello to get the ball rolling. “What deal’ssss did you have in mind?” She had a few but in negotiation, it was always best to have someone else start first...

The Cowboy was a fan. Right down to business, no waiting around, asking for coffee. He chuckled, shaking slightly. He wasn't in his known hat or overcoat as he wanted to look somewhat formal. He watched Kaul for a moment, nodding. "How about this hey. You supply my army with weapons and in turn i'll supply you with ships and troops?" he asked her lightly, clearly unsure if she'd bite or not.

In the background some poor engineer was soaked in oil, some prank by the guys currently working on The Half Engine. Metals were being carried around and engine parts were being lowered from the ceiling. A few random idiots were shouting insults at each other and a guy was there, crawling inside of the huge engine, hammer in hand. The only guy actually working.

"What about it?"

Sere didn’t mess around much that was right, she was completely all business, the swaying of her headtails betrayed her thought, “what weapon’ssss are you wanting, and what troop’ssss and ships are you offering?” Ships she didn’t need so much of, a few would be nice to ship cargo about and escort a convoy but mostly she needed manpower in case someone came a’knocking on her front door.

Time to start the negotiations, even as the construction work went around them, and the lights flicked, one or two of the mercs with her lit up something to smoke, notorious for spice use her company, her staff rarely went anywhere without some liquor and a smoke, because their perks often came in both! Taken from the street gangs outside her companies factories more often than not, they all looked rough, but the Noghri were the roughest by far.

“Are you wanting sss’special designs, limited stock or regular weapon’ssss.” Regular, but there was no doubt her weapons were dangerous, often looking for kinks in the various commonplace armors people wore, but limited, regular or special unique designed stock all had different value to her. Her tail swished behind her, curling around thoughtfully.

Xander nodded. He almost expected her to ask what he was offering, and to be fair he didn't mind. "You help yourself to anything dotted around the shipyard here. Troopwise, uh... any men I find that are some elite squad i'll send your way." he told her, nodding. Okay, granted he was giving away free ships but to be honest, he was being armed so it's fine.

"Limited Stock guns if possible. To be honest i'll take anything that packs a punch. Also, a few big guns would be nice. Stuff that blows holes in things" he told the girl opposite him, nodding again. In the back he watched as some stupid idiot dropped a stack of parts down on the head of the guy in there.

The poor guy poked his head up, swearing before dropping back inside, continuing the last of his work for the day. Soon this damn engine would be finished.

Soon.

“That can be arranged,” she hissed a soft laugh, the sound of the engine being started up, “12 guns for a fighter, thirty for corvette, and if you do have a frigate sss’spare we can really talk.” She was lowballing him, haggling low like any merchant would, she’d might even double it if he was shrewd enough to realise, almost anyway.

She twirled her tail, “if I get anything, sssss’special that might help, I’ll be s’sssure to let you know.” In the background the sound of some arguments about when the engine would be ready finally reached fever pitch, eventually though with heated voices they agreed reluctantly the engine was ready for testing, and several gathered around pulling it into the testing bay via droid.

Looking around at the progress on the engine, Sere had her man pop open the case, “a down payment ssss, if we have terms’sss” she was really piling it on now, if he accepted he’d get a poor deal, if he didn’t she might withdraw the free gift. It would depend if Xander could keep his cool while negotiating.

Behind them they could the engine sputtering out, it obviously needed more work yet, and she turned her head curious, "what are you working on?"

Any regular stock you can say you’ve got in your unit subs, dropping by the thread is a curtsey with say a ship payment to help my company expand! Limited stock I need a heads up about if its more than 10, and special stock needs a pm first.

"One Half Drive Frigate, two corvettes and two fighter squads" he told the female, nodding. Lucky for him it seemed to strike quite a deal. "What i'm working on is my project. The Half Engine, better than most engines you'll find out in this stupid galaxy" he told her, nodding.

"We have a deal?"

“Are you fitting an overdrive unit to it? Extended heat s'sssinks?” What Xander had done, fortunately or not for him, was wade into engineering territory, which was what she enjoyed most. So her headtails began to move questioningly, “may I see the design s'ssschematics?” She asked calmly, though curious, her race really had no cares in the world he could say no just as easily, or perhaps take her for a tour of the prototype.

A fast frigate she could use for getting out of trouble. She turned her head to her non noghri, oh yes the deal, “my men’ssss like their perk’ssss,” she said, turning a few of their heads, “leave s’ssssome liquor aboard our frigate’s cargo hold, and you have a deal’ssss.” That way they could spend the entire first few trips getting completely and utterly blasted, and it’d keep them happy for a month, it saved money as nobody questioned their paycheck being late, not until they were sober.

“Now about this’sss engine.”

She was curious or just nosey, either way she turned her head to the testing bay, watching streams of, “a sublight drive, I take it?” She mused, “what metal’ssss are you using?”

When you put up the dev for the frigate, check out the speed of some of the others, so you aim for the top end. There is a design called an overdrive engine for example, you might want to look at.
