For Good Measure (Lady Kay)

"Chateau La Arenais"
Eldritch Mountains,
Chasin City Outskirts,
Commenor.

It would seem that things had finally settled down for he and his wife; both Veiere and Kay Arenais having had differing involvements in the latest battle against the Iron Contingency that had come to Commenor, threatened their peaceful way of life and reportedly hit numerous other governing worlds and political powers that consequently brought down a wealth of attention to the Iron world of Tartarus that would see their undoing.

There was however one lesson learned from the recent attacks; that with all the threats coming down upon the Systems Alliance, for all the focus that the pair of them had placed on the safety of their people, they themselves were lacking the proper attire fit and molded to their expertise and skill tree.

The couples retreat from the public spotlight was nothing short of grandiose and while his wife had yet to really enjoy the atmosphere of their new home, Veiere had been busying himself out back seeking to establish a proper working station for the likes of his personal endeavors in crafting objects such as lightsabers and studying the information and styles of forging Force Imbued artifacts from which he had acquired from the Deneba Archives.

Already he had led students in the past through creating the likes of a Imbued weapon, a means of self defense alternative from the lightsaber itself for which came often later in their training. For he and Kay however he had plans of a similar kind, though encompassing the likes of a personal set of armor for which he had envisioned for himself as well as an attire that might better suit his wife's skills also.

Once Kay had arrived at the Estate, her security detail were sent away to patrol the perimeter. There was no reason for them to come inside and check on things. The Estate was pretty much off limits to them. It was the private escape for herself and her husband, [member="Veiere Arenais"] . Why would they want anyone to intrude? There was hardly a moment where the two weren't interupted for one thing or another, so having somewhere to go where they wouldn't be disturbed was ideal.

She opened the door and stepped inside, dropping her satchel at her feet in the foyer. Kay took in a deep breath and let it out slowly as she loosened up her hold on her Force Sensitivity and and just let go. Her eyes were closed as she felt it move around her, detailing the areas in the Estate where life was. There were potted plants in various rooms as well as Veiere. The presence that he held in the Force was strong and brought her great comfort. She was glad that he too, was able to get away. His dedication to the Systems Alliance was growing and so too were his duties. Just as when he worked hard for the Jedi Order, his duties as King also kept them apart.

Kay walked over to the kitchen and started to prepare some tea. She wasn't quite sure of what her husband was up to, but was certain that he knew of her arrival. Was he able to feel the presence of their child too? She did. Although at times she wondered if it was just her imagination. Regardless she kept herself busy, not wanting to interrupt Veiere just yet. He'll come to her when he was ready.

Over time, Veiere had become more skilled with these sort of works, channeling his presence and strength of the Force down through to his hands for which held the breast plate of the Armor he was seeking to shape. It was still in the very early stages of it's craft and the Artisans of Chasin City, the City Smith among others such as embroiders would smooth out the finer details yet for the time being Veiere's focus was solely on the shaping and strengthening of metals.

Orichalcum was an alloy that he had not come across before, salvaged from the remains of fallen Iron Knights and the debris of the Iron world for which his skirmish against the Knight of Ren who had sought to defeat him, had instead earned him the promise and protective manipulation of arms.

The Al-chemical effects of Force Embodiment within such artifacts were strongest associated with the likes of Darksider's for their search of power and weapons of destructive Force while the Jedi did such things behind closed doors and Veiere, in the pursuit of being able to defend against such creations of death.

His presence within the Force here was indeed strong enough for his wife to pick up on, strengthened and encouraged by the vibrancy of life in the outdoors that the living energies flowed around him; his right hand holding the hammer for which he used to manipulate the metals shape against the heat of the fire pit, a furnace surrounded by stone and laid with a bed of coal, hot embers atop of that and weakening the alloy just enough so to work it into the required pieces for which would see far greater works back in the City.

The flow of the lightside of the Force revolved around him during the process, guiding it to be infused with the alloy that it might embody the light while worn in the future days to come. The Darkside was a play upon the mind and soul of the light, such opponents Veiere had faced before and felt his mind wane, his emotions become more vulnerable in the presence of such decadent evil; through this he sought to create a guarding wall, a shield so to speak that would enable him to remain calm, clear headed and out of the reach emotional instability wrought on by said oppositions to come.

The pleasant aroma of Sapir tea filled the kitchen as the tea steeped. Kay picked up the mug, cupping it in both of her hands as she stepped out of the kitchen and into the living room, on her way up to the third floor to their bedchambers. Her satchel was still there, but she paid it no mind for the moment. There was something else that she needed to do first.

She headed over to her rather large walk-in closet and afrer setting her tea down, she began to undress. Being in gowns all the time wasn't easy. As a Senator, she could get away with dressing casually at times, yet as Queen, there was always the chance that someone was going to pop by for a meeting of some sort. So she always had to look the part. Kay found the most comfirtable pair of warm slacks that she owned, once that were soft and insulated. Following that she put on a long sleeved top that was slightly thinner than her slacks, yet enveloped her with such softness that it was like wearing a cloud. Slippers were added to her feet, cozy ones that had foam inside that moulded to her feet. Today was all about comfort. That's what this place was for.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] was working hard. Just what he was doing exactly, she didn't know, but he was channeling the Force in such a strong way that she felt he just shouldn't be disturbed.

Picking up her tea once more, she sipped it while she carried it down the stairs to the living room where she settled herself on one of the couches, draping a blanket overtop of herself. She turned on the holo and instead of tuning into the news, she set it onto one of the holo-movie channels and began to watch. Today's movie was a mystery thriller on a man with multiple personalities. It was a bit cliche, yet still had the power to draw you in. Kay loved movies like that. And so she lost herself in the fantasy of someone elses' struggles. Sometimes that was easier than dealing with her own.

Slaving himself over metal works took a great deal of time, perseverance and strength; Veiere Arenais standing over the the outdoor furnace pit free of his shirt and showing his bare skin to the cool breeze of Commenor's wind in an attempt to keep his temperature balanced against the struggle in his latest commitment. He had been at this for a number of hours now, reshaping and fashioning pieces of all sizes to make do for the buckles, the shoulder guards, gauntlets and the like. Finally after an adequate amount of work dealt to the materials of his own behalf he concluded that it was time to wrap things up and have it sent to the Capital for a professional to complete in high standard.

Already the Orichalcum had been soaked through with the essence of the lightside of the Force, every drop of sweat spilled over the work, the strength lost during the time he had been hammering away at it, tempering the layers of metal and channeling his energies down through his left arm; the presence of the Force could be felt surrounding the alloy for which would hopefully aid to strengthen Veiere's resolve should he find himself up against the likes of Dark-siders.

Removing the Orichalcum from the burning hot embers and placing them down into a large metallic container filled with water, steam rose up from the surface as the heat was immediately cooled and gave an audible hiss out against the open air. Following this, he would fill an extra bucket and pour it across the pit itself to kill off the embers and ensure the area was safely cooled before turning to head back towards the Estate with his collection of pieces he planned to pay another to complete.

His and his wife [member="Lady Kay"]'s new home was nothing short of a marvel to be had; moving on into the massive manor, he soon found her standing within the Kitchen having smelled the aroma of her tea first and soon smiling to himself, placing his latest work upon one of the corner tables just shy of the living area before moving closer to greet her.

"Feeling right at home now are we?"

He smiled, coming up from behind her, his hands wrapping around her waist, his chin dropping a little to rest against her shoulder as he sought to see what it was she was busying herself with doing.

After the holo-movie was over, Kay got to her feet, empty tea cup in hand. She stretched before tossing the blanket onto the couch and strolled over to one of the windows to observe the goings on in the courtyard. The noise that [member="Veiere Arenais"] was creating while forging his armour was easily heard now that the holo was turned off. It took her a moment to realize what he was doing, as he hadn't let her know of it beforehand. Yet there he was, working away with the sun glistening off his back. She couldn't help but admire his physique, the strength in his arms as he used the hammer to manipulate the hot metal. The Force flowed through him in such a way that he almost seemed to glow. Already she wanted to tear him away from his work and have him all to herself.

But she didn't want to interrupt. Instead, a hunger of a different sort caused her to turn away from spying on him. Kay walked over to the kitchen, warming the kettlw that had cooled while the holo-movie had her attention. Her tea cup was set aside on the counter before she began to prepare the two of them a late lunch. She figured that Veiere would be hungry too, given all of that energy that he had used.

Kay smiled as she heard his voice chime in as he walked into the kitchen, though she didn't turn to look. Instead she continued fixing the lunch, consisting of sandwiches and a mixture of cheeses and crackers. His arms wrapped around her then, and she leaned her head against his while he peered over her shoulder. "Yes, my dear. It's easy to do in such a place. I wonder if I could escape here for a while after our child is born. No staff, just our family. Wouldn't that be lovely?" Whether or not that was possible, she didn't know. But the hope was there.

"Now go upstairs and have a quick shower. Lunch is nearly ready. Then you can let me know what you've been up to out there while we eat." She turned her head and planted a kiss on his cheek.

"No one else knows of this place outside of those who weren't generously compensated for their time....-You can come here whenever you feel the need to escape the rest of the world"

Veiere spoke in naught but a whisper as he stood behind his wife, his hands upon her sides watching as she organized their midday's meal. [member="Lady Kay"] seemed rather comfortable, even to go so far as to say she seemed to allow herself to be exactly who she was and not an ounce more or less, the force flowing freely around the two without so much as a struggle on her part in trying to hide it up here in the heights of the Eldritch mountains.

Of course, it wasn't to be long before she encouraged him to go clean himself up. A lift of his head in a silent nod of resignation would see him pull away and turn to make for the stairs, not for the second but for the third floor which comprised solely of their bedroom and en-suite. The Estate fit for guests, family or otherwise, had plenty of room and yet too the downside of climbing the wide open arching stairwell towards the top.

He was feeling rather good about this new project however, to design a new set of armor for himself and a better suited attire for his wife who more often than not found herself in trouble without little effort. Atleast should all go to plan, he would have a better defense against the likes of the rising influence of the Dark Side in the Galaxy while Kay, for whom her skills were best delved into politics and evasive counter-action where violence was concerned, would be able to wear this new suit and still fit in to occasions of casual regard; in the style of this day and age.

Escape the rest of the world, escape the rest of the Galaxy. That's what she needed at times. That's what both of them needed. Their lives had become so complicated and controlled by the paths that they chose, there was little time for them to be themselves. One of Kay's old bodyguards had told her that she was a slave to her position. Until recently she didn't believe him. But having this place gave her freedom.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] was already off in the shower by the time that she had finished preparing lunch. Taking a bit of cheese and crackers in hand, she snuck outside to see what it was that her husband was working on. It wasn't much of a surprise that he was creating armour. But what did catch her by offguard was that there was two sets. She took a bite of her crackers and cheese while she studied the suits while they cooled. Was he preparing for war? Or wanting them to be prepared in case war came to them? Ever the protector, he knew of her being a magnet for trouble. Being a Queen didn't help with that either.

Her brows furrowed as she began to think. Hiding her abilities was all well and good, but perhaps it weakened her strength in them as well. She needed to do better. The life of their child could be at stake. Her life could be at stake. But of course luck would have it thatshe only thought about it now. Kay needed to fit in practice and training into her daily schedule. The catacombs underneath the Palace were a good spot when she wasn't here. She had practiced there before. Maybe a training droid could be made, one that she could spar against. Yet the time was short for her to do a lot of physical activity. But that didn't mean that she couldn't use other methods of the Force.

Kay had another bite of her snack as her other hand unconsciously stroked her belly, the life growing inside becoming more apparent as the days wore on. Did she even know any lullabies or nursery songs? Did she even know how to look after one? Did Veiere? This would probably be new to the both of them.

But it was exciting.

Life upon the Eldritch Mountains was nothing if not peaceful and serene. He hadn't realized how much he had missed his former residence with all the urgency in his life's dedications these last few years, however taking a moment to stand out upon the deck overlooking their grounds, the vibrancy of life among the lush green world that surrounded them, Veiere smiled to himself with true contentment.

This would be his place of retirement.

Truth be told, things were starting to fall that way. The Jedi Order was growing, becoming ever stronger under the leadership of [member="Romi Jade"] of whom he had trained and now stood at the peak of her life's service to the Force with only greater things to come. The Systems Alliance was too growing, though he doubted his wife would stop any time soon in it's leadership, Veiere on the other hand still disliked the weight and responsibility of politics and thus would likely call his service to an end sooner than she. He was King by marriage, his love for her not as a Queen but as an individual had placed that responsibility on him. A Jedi on one side, a King on the other. The two did not blend well though he had done the best he could to support and help as many as possible using the reach of his position...-Family however was becoming his greater focus now with Kay well into her pregnancy and they finally having a piece of land and a structured life more suitable for raising their children (and teaching certain others some better manners).

His shower was brief, for he knew his beloved Wife had prepared them both lunch. Dressing not within Jedi Robes nor attire of any formal kind, Veiere instead chose to wear a pair of more comfortable track pants, a loose white t-shirt and a fresh pair of socks; changing, he turned to glance at himself in the reflection of the mirror and actually found himself chuckling lightly at the man that he saw staring back. This was a life he had yearned for, stress free, no immediate worries, a loving wife and a future legacy. He had always hoped that it would come, but had always put the Galaxy and the Order first and foremost in front of his own desires.

Decades of struggle, combating the oppressive nature of the galaxy and serving the people with out regard of his own. He had earned a chance to be happy in and of himself, no longer feeling that it was so much to ask for.

Returning down-stairs he would seek to find his wife, only to see through the great panes of glass that lined the walls of their estate that [member="Lady Kay"] had ventured outside to take a peek at his latest works. They truly were to be a marvel once they were finished. Never had he put so much effort into crafting an armor imbued with the Force. His own still required a great deal of time though Kay's was already finished and only yet had to be given to her. Wandering outside with some casual footwear, he would approach her from behind, his hands finding her waist again and moving to take her into his arms, he smiled as he spoke to her softly.

"What do you think?".

And there he was. Through their connection in the Force, Kay felt [member="Veiere Arenais"] approach before he even reached her. As his arms wrapped themselves around her from behind, she felt her cheeks going slightly red as she was caught snooping, yet she leaned into him, allowing the comfort and protection that he gave her to envelop her body. Moments like these were too rare for her liking, yet she was going to treasure every moment of it.

"I think that they're stunning, my dear, both of them. I don't know where you learned how to do it, but I'm grateful." She brought her free hand up to caress his cheek and play with his beard between her fingers.

"So tell me about them. How strong are they? What are their weaknesses?" She had no doubt that they were more than just typical.suits of armour. The amount of Force energy swirling around him while he was hammering them into shape was enough to tell her that they had unique properties. With the amount of trouble that came her way, she just knew that these were meant to keep that trouble at bay, enough to ensure that they would live longer, anyways.

Veiere smiled, glad to see that [member="Lady Kay"] was so interested in the pieces he was putting together. Armor, was not his only intended creation among the forge here, another piece of work of his that was thus far still fresh into it's shaping would later become a Force Imbued Blade for which he sought to offer an alternative to the use of the Lightsaber yet too act as a symbol of his place as King over Commenor.

"Turadium has become something of a new favorite of mine...-It's a good sturdy alloy resistant to Lightsabers; Part of this will be used for my armor plating as well as a single handed Short-Sword. Given the way things have been going of late and now with some free time on my hands, I've been considering doing this more regularly. Perhaps as a means of income on the side..." Veiere chuckled softly, turning in to glance at the side of his wife looking to gauge her reaction though soon gesturing to the attire that he had created for her and leaving the embrace of her body to instead walk over to and hold up the top half for her to see for herself.

"A Personal Cloaking Device will accompany this casual attire. It's not designed to withstand battle like mine though it's resistances will be adequate. The Focus around yours is more about protecting yourself and keeping out of dangers reach. I've also included a Faraday Cage which will protect you and the device itself from Ion and energy displacements; were you to encounter a practiced user of Force Lightening for example, such energies would be absolved and you would go without harm...-That is of course if they could find you. Keep in mind that while the cloak will hide you physically, you will still need to keep your Force Signature hidden of your own will".

Kay-Larr

Kay had to laugh a little as [member="Veiere Arenais"] joked about having a bunch of free time on his hands, so much so that he could run a business. Perhaps if they were no longer in charge of the care of multiple worlds and billions of people, that could be true. But for now that wasn't the case, plus they had a family to look after. The early years were important for bonding and she had hope that war wouldn't drag her husband away. At least that was her wish. As far as how long they would rule over the system, she had an endgame for that too. But now just wasn't the time. Neither of them were ready or prepared.

Yet the hidden Estate was a good step forward in that direction.

Veiere pulled away from her then and began going through both his armour and her own attire, explaining the features with such pride. She couldn't help but smile more broadly, feeling ever so lucky to have him in her life. "A personal cloaking device? Knowing my luck, I'd probably get a lot of uses out of it. But where does it activate? It'll have to be somewhere within easy reach." She wondered if bounty hunters and the like would still be able to find her with their helms. Could they somehow use a sensor that could detect her bodyheat? She was still very new to the idea.

Plus she'd have to get used to wearing it. Yet with all of her gowns and fancy dresses, wearing casual attire wasn't common. Still, she'd have to be sure to keep it nearby for a quick change. Perhaps she could start carrying a satchel again like she used to.

"There's a panel on the top of the left fore-arm, it's a small display that will trigger via your touch. Only you will be able to initiate this as it will respond to your body signature...-Technology" he added the final word with a quiet chuckle before turning back around to look to her; "At the least this will help me to feel a little more comfortable in regards to your safety. Your want to keep your ability in the Force hidden is understandable and I've gotten used to it though it still leaves you at a great disadvantage should things go awry..." He tilted his head, adoring eyes looking to her own with a half smile, "I do hope you get good use of this".

Their Sanctuary within the hills was a blessing more than words could give credit to, honestly. In the past, they had needed such a place to come and unwind simply to be themselves and share a moments peace with one another, yet the residence that he had built for them would serve them in so many ways. The Forge for example, of which such protective assets could be brought together. Veiere imagined that here, he would create several new pieces using their children for inspiration and incentive.

[member="Bradshaw Ku"] could certainly use something of his own and of late the two had hardly managed to find a time to talk. The boy was a concern at times and a questionable factor of their lives in most others. What had he been getting up to these last few months while searching for his sister, Rae-Anna. They had all tried and failed, it was a dark subject for which somehow had been placed to the back of their minds, perhaps for fear of the truth on the girls fate, yet Bradshaw still clung to hope and for the boys sake, Veiere hoped that longing and will to continue to believe would serve him well in the end.

"Tell me though...-What have you been doing with yourself?" Veiere turned the subject and his attention back upon his beloved wife for whom he wondered about.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Kay nodded, looking to the panel that [member="Veiere Arenais"] indicated. So it only activated with her touch? That was interesting. Would she be able to just hide herself? Or would it expand to whatever she was touching too? "If I used this cloaking device with our child in my arms, would our child disappear from view too? I don't quite know how it works...I've never seen one on a person before. Only on a ship." If it was a matter of who she touched, then she could hide him too, or [member="Bradshaw Ku"] or anyone else that she wanted to protect.

And then he brought up her hiding her abilities. Yes, it did put her at a disadvantage, but it also gave her an advantage as well. Still, it was something that she did in order to protect herself and her people. If a war began against Force users, then hiding her sensitivity would clear her from being targeted. But what of their child? Surely they should have the choice to choose which path to follow. And she would accept that choice, regardless. The future was so unclear that it was frustrating. But one day at a time was the way that she had to take things.

Veiere asked about what she had been doing with herself. Kay raised a brow, following it with a playful smirk. "Oh you know, the usual..." She apprached, linking her arm with his as she led him back to the kitchen where their lunch awaited them on the table. "...looking out for everyone, hiring others in the hopes that when the time comes that our child will soon be born, that they will be able to look after things when we cannot. I'm supposed to decrease my stress levels, so delegating helps. I just hope that it'll be enough. And I'm unsure of where I'll be, whether it's at the Palace, or here." There was so much uncertainty as far as giving birth goes. The scary part was that it could happen at any time. Kay even wanted to minimalize travel.

She sat down at the table, took the sandwich into her hands and had a bite, chewing it down before she spoke up. "And I'm thinking that soon after our child is born, when I am ready, that I should take up some training again. If not for my sake but for our child's and for your peace of mind as well. I don't wat you to have to constantly worry about me." It'd be done in secret of course.

"Unfortunately, this cloak will only shield you from sight my love..."

Though the fact was that were she to be with their child, whether before or after having given birth, the hope was that she wouldn't find them both in such compromising positions and if travel off world was required, an inevitability he had to suppose, he would too hope that he himself was there to accompany them.

"With things being concluded upon Deneba and the Jedi Order ironing out it's future, I will be taking my leave to focus here at home. I will be with you much more than I have been these past years, my ambitions for the Order have been brought into fruition and for whatever the Force wills it, the timing seems too perfect in that you are now with child and I can be here when you need me the most..."

He smiled lovingly, his gaze meeting hers as they walked together back towards the estate and soon entered back into the new residence for which finally he might dig into some lunch. He hadn't realized how entirely famished he had become from the works that he had committed himself too, not until the sight of food sat before him and he joined [member="Lady Kay"] at the table, picking himself out a nice half of a sandwich and taking a bite himself.

"I have served the Force my entire life and the Jedi are slowly recovering from their collapse following the Republic. It's taken years and there remains much distance between the other organizations of Jedi out there in the Galaxy but for what I can hope to achieve, I have. Alas, some problems in the Galaxy are too large for one man to fix, yet never the less, I am right where I am supposed to be now. Here at home for you and our Children...-Bradshaw and Rae-Anna too, naturally...".

Kay nodded. So the cloak only worked for herself. In some ways that was great, while in others, not so much. She hoped in any case that she wouldn't have to use it at all. More than likely [member="Veiere Arenais"] was thinking the same thing. His sense of duty to protect them was easily felt. She just hoped that what had happened in her previous marriage won't happen again. That was always a fear. History liked to repeat itself afterall.

As he spoke up about his plans and successes with the Jedi Order, Kay took another bite of her sandwich, studying his eyes and the way that he spoke, almost as though she was memorizing it. Her expression lightened as he let her know of his intent on being there for her. It was true that she'd need him in the coming months, as well as after their child was born, so this was the best news for her to hear. She was almost overwhelmed with joy that she nearly felt as though she would cry. Her mind drifted back to that moment when he had proposed to her, or rather made the suggestion that they should get married. It was so out of the blue, just like this was and perhaps it was moments like these that made her love him all the more. They were unconventional, but they were perfect. He was perfect. He made her life perfect.

"Oh Veiere...This really means a lot to me. There is so much that good that we've done here and even more that can be done still...."

Her brows furrowed slightly as she debated inwardly with herself. There was an idea that she's had for a while that she had yet to tell him about. It was sort of a pipe dream, but could be possible too. It was too late to back out now as he probably felt her internal argument with herself. "I've kind of had an idea....Maybe, when our government is more stable and can look after things in our absence well enough, then we could...maybe retreat from the spotlight like the Elders did. Only the elected Presidents knew where they were, but that was if they were solely trusted like I was. When we are needed, we can be reached. Otherwise...we'll get to live our own lives again. What do you think?"

"Do you feel that's an achievable goal for yourself, love ?"

Veiere questioned with a fond chuckle, looking back at her with a light glance in skepticism. She had always taken to her work with the utmost dedication, leadership across Commenor for the people of the Systems Alliance and it had gotten to the stage where their dream of settling down and moving away from the public eye had become less and less likely from his perspective.

"That would require someone you trust to step up to lead, to take your position and become the new face of Government...-Are you ready to let all of that go?"

He wasn't at all looking to discourage her of course; the idea of peace and quiet within their home-world not being constantly hassled by others for what they might be needed or could do to help others, whether political or relating to the Jedi Order, Veiere truly wished for this pipe dream of hers too. Only, he wasn't so sure she would be able to make such a sacrifice as politics was her livelihood as much as the Force was his.

"With your Pregnancy, downtime will be expected of you. At-least during that period you can try and get acquainted with a simpler life..." He grinned faintly. Raising Children hadn't exactly been a planned situation to fall into though neither one of them had regrets, they both acted as parents over [member="Bradshaw Ku"] as it was; to have another even younger one eventually running about would keep they themselves young at heart. Or so he liked to think optimistically.

"It does sound like a lovely Idea, Kay...-Truly. I just wonder if you're ready for a change as large as that. You've given your life to Politics and your heart to Commenor...-Besides, who would take your place?".

Kay raised a brow slightly as [member="Veiere Arenais"] asked his first question. She smirked at his chuckle and looked down at her plate, obviously in thought. He was right of course. Was it achievable? Possibly. There were a number of times that she had left the realm of politics, yet through no fault of her own, she was pulled back into it. Such was her fate, a path that she couldn't escape from for long. Perhaps if she wasn't abducted, things would've been different. But then again it might not have been. The Elders would have died at some point, and more than likely they would have chosen her as their successor.

Her eyes drifted upwards to her dearest husband as he let her in gently on the reality of the situation. Her pregnancy and upcoming birth would indeed give them a respite from their duties, and most especially her. For how long that would be, she didn't know.

However Veiere had posed another setback for her idea. Who would replace her? Surely he could step in a bit, and more than likely he would, given that he was King and set to devote more time to Commenor. But would would take over for the both of them? Surely not [member="Bradshaw Ku"] . The lad lacked the maturity and sense of responsibility. He had a tutor though, one to possibly teach them those things. But it was difficult to predict whether or not those lessons would hold. So far all that Brad liked to do was flirt with the staff. He needed to learn to control those impulses, just as he did his anger.

"I don't know who would take my place dear. At least not yet. I was found through an election process. Maybe we'll get to do that again some day. But until then....I'll just pretend to live a normal life when the time comes for me to prepare."

There was much to do to get everything ready. She took another bite of her sandwich, chewing it while she was in thought. "Do we have a nursery ready? I haven't gone through every room yet."

"We've got the essentials..."

Veiere shrugged a shoulder somewhat indifferently, "Though it lacks a woman's touch" he admitted. He had tried to do the best he could in bringing them the furniture and makings of a room appropriate for raising younglings though no doubt [member="Lady Kay"] would be better to deal with it emotionally as Veiere still felt rather detached and tackling the reality of the situation that was upon them; where as, as a mother she was already being pulled in head first with a love for their family that she was still coming to grasp in true comprehension.

This change of lifestyle, while yet to impact on Veiere with any more sentimentality than what he already held for their growing family, had no doubt taken a shift in the bond that she was sharing with the twins. The benefit of Motherhood in that they were always first to form that attachment to their young ones, and vice versa.

"What we do have is plenty of room...-I don't know how likely it is that Bradshaw would wish to move in here but the option's always there. I've made sure we've got enough to account for our children...-All of them" He lifted a hand to the right as if to suggest [member="Bradshaw Ku"] was one of his own too; "It's more a matter of us getting settled in and finding our place here. It's a large place...-Thankfully very quiet and I have to admit I love the view...-I wanted something that could remind us of the beauty of Commenor beyond the constant flapping mouths of our people".

Kay smirked a little again before diving into more of her lunch. A woman's touch indeed. She didn't know anything about raising babies, she's never even held one. Both Brad and Rae-Anna were well past that stage by the time they were adopted. "I'm sure that what you've gotten is fine. The essentials are what's needed most." Diapers, feedings, she didn't know anymore about those things than [member="Veiere Arenais"] did. It wasn't as though she had any younger siblings or anything of the sort. This was just one of those things where they'd just learn on the fly. There were plenty of people that had done that, she was certain.

Her eyes glanced around the room while he spoke, almost as though she was taking in the house for the first time. Veiere had done a fantastic job. Already it felt like home. She felt comfortable and more importantly, she felt safe. "Yes...all of them." Her mind drifted to Rae-Anna, the once bright and happy girl that she knew, always holding her hand and making her giggle. Where was she now? Was she even alive? All searches for her had come out fruitless. Hopefully she was alright. Hopefully she was still alive.

Veiere's next comment about flapping mouths caused her to laugh. She knew full well of his feelings towards politics and the constant meetings. This would be a nice break for the two of them.

Kay met his eyes. "I like the view too..." But did she mean the view of the distant city? Or of her husband? Only the slight blush to her cheeks gave that away. Being in his company was where she belonged.

Her eyes widened for a moment as she felt something stirr. Kay's body stiffened and she almost didn't want to move or speak. "Veiere it's moving. It feels so weird! Come and feel it." She took his hand as soon as it was in reach and placed it on her belly. The reality of having a living being inside of her started to sink in. But then she felt something else, a movement on the other side while the rolling sensation was felt beneath her husband's hand. She wasn't sure if she was scared or excited. More than likely it was a mixture of both. "Veiere ..I think we're having twins..."
