Ergonomic Assessments, the Mando Way

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
After the trip to Schesa, where he attempted to both start a workplace health and safety magazine and an ergonomic assessment office, Klesta was instructed by the headquarters on Ziost to get the ergonomic assessment part of the business outside the Caldera, even though, once again, the Caldera is a place where they held a virtual monopoly in that segment and a majority share in their main activity: media. But Klesta realized that there was a lot of demand for ergonomic assessments, and yet they had a lot of work ahead to dislodge the Xi Charrans from the dominant positions in the galactic ergonomic assessments market. A good place to start would be with a company operating in a field prone to work accidents. Like Meran Mechanics. Here it was more straightforward than it has been with the Intergalactic Monetary Fund: there was no ancillary business to be conducted, just ergonomic assessments. No more, no less. Billing department was responsible for most of the work, which was much more busy than Klesta was. He spent his time peddling ergonomic assessments to be done on a periodic basis.

ATTN: [member="Kami Meran"]

Your workers represent a precious resource, too precious for Meran Mechanics to be sidelined by work accidents. Ergonomic assessments go a long way towards preventing work accidents and, in turn, increasing your workforce's productivity. If you're ready to take us up on our special offer, including the possibility of group and bulk discounts, please let me know what works for you.

Klesta
Executive VP, Sith Inquisitor

" a what? " kami asked her self.
after an hour of asking around she was reliably told it was something to do with the grip on a mans privet parts.
why would she want those?

[ attn [member="Klesta"] ]

Hi look im sorry to disappoint you but i'm a girl.
still good luck with grabbing those boy bits.
Kami.

ok looks like it was for safety checks.
yeah sure come to the Asol system. you can check our factory.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
Ergonomic assessments were not always obvious to sell, and, while the demand was definitely there, cold-calling for ergonomic assessments was not always easy. Often attaching information about what these ergonomic assessments were, held importance to the whole process of peddling such things. Klesta was dumbfounded to find two separate messages, scratching his head through his hood as he read the first one, realizing that it took a while for [member="Kami Meran"] to even understand what ergonomic assessments were. While he made preparations to fly from Schesa to Asop, he had to let Kami know that Klesta was coming to the orbital factory over Asop, which will force him to set up an ergonomic assessment shop on nearby Lok. Does Meran Mechanics have enough organic employees to warrant a group discount? By that same token, do they have enough organic employees for a bulk discount?

---------------------------------------

Dear Kami Meran,

In three standard days I will arrive in the Asol system. We will discuss further the needs for ergonomic assessments upon arrival.

Klesta

---------------------------------------

[ [member="Klesta"] we will have buffet set up. note arrival will require an escort due to environmental hazards. ]
kami responded.
Dam it H&S was a semi low priority on MM station mostly due to it's low population.
still what needed to be done needed to be done and this would kick her people in to shape.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
Environmental hazards? [member="Kami Meran"] was correct this time around: navigating the asteroid field would require an escort, since he and his RX droid were unfamiliar with the area. Klesta never suspected that the asteroid field would be that dangerous, but is grateful for the escorts while his RX droid had the yacht form up with the escorts. And yet the main questions left unresolved are: 1) how many ergonomic assessments were needed to be conducted and 2) how often they would need to be done. Usually there is the option to conduct supplemental assessments should work accidents arise, at the regular prices, with the Sith Inquisitor reserving the right to modify the pricing without any notice. While the escorts took Klesta in presumably they would get him out of the Asop station provided Kami isn't one of those machiavellian business owners - it's entirely possible that Kami's buffet could also be a trap. But if Yula's information on Kami was anything to go by, Kami was not that sort of Mando.

(Was sure i posted sorry [member="Klesta"] )

" ok get the hotpots ready and make sure that paint is dry. " Kami checked.
so the visitor was on his way. a Colo was leading the way threw the debris field.
sadly the whole sector was full of wrecks.
still she had no idea what the heck this thing was she assumed it was a safty inspection.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
And several ships crashed in the asteroid field at some points. That is why [member="Kami Meran"] even dispatched a ship that registered on the sensors as a Colo, which was the escort assigned to any ship going in or out of the station in the debris field. It took a winded path out there to the station hangar, where the time required to navigate the debris field to get there was annoying, and Klesta realizing that it will be equally annoying to get out. Once the yacht enters the station hangar, she realizes that there is a sizzling hotplate where his seat is supposed to be in the main dining room of the station, which was rather rustic compared to the luxury restaurants on Cyrillia or Tarhassan, or even Ziost, even though Ziost's fine dining scene was dominated by the Sith clientele. What he sees on the sizzling plate is nothing he even ate on any of those three planets... that's something he heard was more common on Ventooine or Trian.

" so [member="Klesta"] Welcome to Meran station. as you can see our systen is a massive scrap yard. " Kami greeted the Jawa in Jawanese admittedly not a fluent version.
" we have a few clan favorites for you to eat if you are hungry "
she led the way to the canteen.
" have to admit i dont know what this is. i am guessing it is similar to actuary work?"

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
So the last cook specializing in sizzling hot plates was a guy specialized in Atrisian cuisine... while he knew that Mandos were usually inclusive, with [member="Kami Meran"] and her clan being no exception, he had no idea what kind of cuisine one would get from it. And the clans are highly diverse at times, he knew as much. So he ate the contents of the sizzling plate and that alone was enough to make him feel full because of his diminutive size. When Kami asked questions about what ergonomic assessments were, and whether they were similar to actuary work, he was reminded that actuarial work was about insurance premiums, and how risk was computed. There could be some similarity but the end use is different: the base material is roughly the same in both cases. Perhaps he can strike a better deal with Kami if there were enough organic workers to justify group or bulk discounts. Always ascertain how much work there is to be done first...

"Not quite. Actuary work is about risk assessment, but they use the results to make sure the correct insurance premiums are charged, with no implications on productivity. Ergonomic assessments is about what causes the hazards at the workstations and how productivity can be improved by acting on the workstations so that workers don't get hurt by using workstations improperly. Before I can talk about terms and conditions, I would like to know how many organics work here"

" this station? only around 99 to 100 whole company only around 1000." she admitted most work in our stores and in R&D works. honestly most of the assemblt line is automated.
[member="Klesta"]

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
"Hmm... that was one good Atrisian meal on a sizzling hotplate"

Understandably, with most of the assembly line being automated, as was often the case in industrial, large-scale settings, the work of ergonomic assessments won't be as dangerous to do. If it had a thousand ergonomic assessments to be done across the network of Meran Mechanics, with a hundred or two at each location, it definitely qualified for bulk-level discounts. [member="Kami Meran"] will receive the contract for those ergonomic assessments soon. Just needed to hash out whether the assessments were to be done once or periodically before the contract would be printed for the Mando to sign. He would now enter the bulk-discount price into the preliminary contract with one big blank pertaining to the frequency.

"Now that bulk discounts are on the table, especially if you list all locations where organic workers work, do you want the assessments to be done once, yearly or once every two years? Or do you want periodic assessments as an option?"

still using Jawanese Kami answered " [member="Klesta"] at the second i will have to look those up. a lot of our fold are aiding in reconstruction on Mandalor and with aid relief. the rest is in education on our homestead." she admitted it was weird looking at her clan it had went from small clan to a company im verry small time.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
"I'm to take that Mandalore is where the bulk of the stuff is going to be"

And also one-time with the option for renewal. Suffice to say, [member="Kami Meran"] acted as if there were just three locations, with the Mandalore one being serviced by the Ziost office, the Meran homestead and Asop. In the meantime, Klesta just finalized the contract for ergonomic assessments to be signed by Kami, printing it in two copies on carbon paper, also realizing that he was talking to the leadership of Clan Meran, after mentioning a homestead. Because from what Klesta knew, Mandalorian clans were headquartered at homesteads. Sometimes Mando homesteads can be just mansions, at other times they can be entire cities, if the clan is large enough for that. Once the document is in front of Kami, with the agreed-upon price, he patiently waited for her to sign it, using what pen he had at his disposal...

" yes currently [member="Klesta"] i am both proud and sorry to say. militarily we are combat engineers not out an out combatants. commando's yup but not out so" we have arround 7 lots on separate planets there ate 37 in the Mine we are setting up asteroid mining after we exhaust the junk " she admitted leading the way the asembly line to.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
"Do you agree to the terms we discussed earlier pertaining to the provision of ergonomic assessments?"

Because the assembly line was, in fact, automated, Klesta was not interested in going any further in. He would not be the one doing the ergonomic assessments: his underlings will do so in due course, on Mandalore and on Asop. [member="Kami Meran"] will have the contract in front of her soon enough, after the document is printed on carbon paper. With that said and done, Kami would receive the contract with all the terms discussed earlier for the provision of ergonomic assessments, knowing that their effectiveness depends on the willingness of the party getting ergonomic assessments made to implement the recommendations that ensue. That, even though Mandos and Sith (because of the Caldera) usually waited until accidents occur to get such stuff made.

"If so, I have the contract in hand"

" Umm i suppose [member="Klesta"] ? " to he honest she still has no flipping idea what it was.
ergonomic was a type of grip so she assumed a economic or efficiency thing but this was more Lyth's department.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
"Most people associate ergonomics with grips; yes, proper usage and layout of grips and other handheld devices is part of what ergonomic assessments are about, but they are by no means the be-all, end-all of ergonomic assessments. Thus far I signed my end of it"

With Klesta having placed his signature on the dotted line that was designated for him, [member="Kami Meran"] herself admitted that workplace health and safety wasn't prioritized. Indirectly perhaps. If and once the contract is signed, Klesta will go back into the gauntlet of the asteroid and debris field, and, from there, on to the next project. The next client, or the next title. Since she implicitly accepted the terms, perhaps Kami should just go sign and then fetch her copy of the contract.

" Yeah look ..." she sighned " I'll put you with my head engineer Deran. im not going to lie. sje will know more than i do. " she admitted with a shrug.
" She knows more about the day to day running of the "things.

Klesta

The King of Ergonomic Assessments
"I hope that Deran will actually understand what ergonomic assessments are about"

After [member="Kami Meran"] took Klesta to Deran, whom he realized might have something to do with the couch called the Mandalorian Fortress, that is now famous across the galaxy, maybe Deran will actually understand how does ergonomic assessments relate to workplace health and safety. Perhps Deran would actually sign the contract in Kami's stead; she seemed to trust her chief engineer enough for that.

"Now, please, your boss told me you were the go-to person for specialized technical services, so here's the rundown of what your boss agreed to: bulk discount for 1,000 ergonomic assessments with an option for periodic renewal and ad-hoc supplemental assessments to be exercised in an emergency"

the exasperated mechanic looked over to [member="Klesta"] " Efficiency assessments and training? yes i know what it is. we just call it drill. " she said.
in all honesty the misunderstanding was a ruse to weasel out those trying to swindle the company.
if they thought Kami was an easy mark they would take advantage.
this was legit.
