Description: As war continues to improve the One Sith continue to be in need of the latest starfighters in order to improve their arsenal. The Erebos Class Starfighter is the first among many products that have been released by the former Pantoran Admiral, Malos Kas in an attempt to update the One Sith's arsenal.

Featuring two solar ionization canons, and two Flex-Tube Warhead Launchers, the fighter might look like it is lightly armed, but it packs a punch, having two weapons that are famous, the former for its damage output, and the later for being modular. Like other One Sith starfighters, it also features an ejection suite.

The starfighter features a thin matrix armor hull, which is compensated by redundant deflector shield generators. Due to the thin hull, Malos had it feature the AR-0B damage reduction armor component in order to help protect the hull. The Captain also ordered for combat deionizers, and cap drains to reinforce the starfighter from ion attacks.

It's sensor systems are nothing short of impressive. Featuring the standard sensor systems that are common with most starfighters, as well as the Ans-7 sensor unit, the starfighter is capable of being able to sense enemy starfighters from a long distance away, as well as as assess enemy starfighters, weapons, etc from a short range. Like the Avenger Class Interceptor, it also features similar comm & sensor systems.

Yes, Ik it shows it's quoted. I stored the draft somewhere else :p

I can tell you right off that bat that listing 'minor production' as a weakness is a no-no. That's already going to be factored into the judging, listing it again feels cheap.

SLAM is also not a standard system, and has automatically required dev in the past.

This does fit something we need, which is a good long-range/patrol snubfighter. I might consider dropping the speed to 4, adding another big laser, and emphasizing durability.

As for a pic, don't worry I got you covered.

(this is in relation to the pictures FYI, which are sick)

I'm also pretty sure I've seen other starfighters that have 'expensive' or anything related to the production level seen as a weakness.

As I'll cover in the dev thread, I figure the One Sith Starfighter Corps to be made up of a few types of squadrons (following much standardization to minimize the impact to logistics). You've got the standard Allegiant Fighter Squadrons, Interceptor Squadrons (made up of Avenger's and an FE or two), and Bomber Squadrons (Star Wing II's). Most of the other strike craft types either have specific roles to fill or can be considered relegated to rear echelon units and for system/station defense.

The obvious role that needs to be filled there is for a heavier escort/patrol snubfighter. My idea looks something like this.

Armament:
3 Supercharge-capable Solar Ionization Cannons
2 Triple Tube Nanomissile Launchers
1 Modular Bomb Bay

The solar ionization cannons have moderate shield penetration (relative to density of shields, I suppose) and good armor piercing capability. They tend to generate a lot of heat, and so cannot fire for extended periods of time. They can additionally be supercharged, similar to the Hornet-class Interceptor, after which they require a period of several seconds (say uh, 6-10) to cool down but inflicting incredible damage for those three shots.

The nano missiles are capable of firing in 1, 2, or 3 shot volleys per launcher (for a total of 6) and each launcher has a magazine of 10 nanomissiles. The warheads themselves have drastically reduced capability against capital ships, but are very effective at tracking and destroying even very fast and very maneuverable small craft (basically 50m and smaller).

The bomb bay is basically standard, having a limited ability to target and fire warheads, but only against comparatively large/slow moving targets. Bombs carried could also conceivably be used as mines to deter pursuers.

Focus is on maneuverability over speed. I'd try for 2/3 but I imagine 2/4 is more likely.

This is an escort/patrol fighter, not an interceptor or bomber or something. The SI Cannons give it a edge up in firepower, and it's durable enough to go head to head with anything it can't outmaneuver. For anti-capital ship work it uses the SI cannons to punch through shields and armor, then drop a bomb in the hole.

These would usually be piloted by personnel drawn from the veterans of the other squadrons, and trusted to act independently.

Weaknesses would include those inherent to the SI cannons, uselessness of bombs vs. strike craft, making it a bit large, and limited 'first strike' capability because of shorter range of nanomissiles.

I'm also going to throw a note in for the frigate I've got in the works that it's at least partially designed to act as a mothership/tender for several squadrons of snubfighters. Or I might just make a separate sub...

Anyway what do you think? I'm going to have my dev thread build off the second one you've got.

First note, assuming the 'width' of the fighter means it's wingspan, it should be close to the 15m of the length. It's a bit broad at the shoulders.

I would bump armament up. This thing is designed to be a heavy hitter. Say a 14 for armament. Defenses can be sort of generic, but we've got enough dev may as well put them at 12 anyway.

Materials: Throw in Quadanium Steel for the hull. Can't make a hull out of armor plating, after all.

For the weapons, something like this.

Armament: 14
Defenses: 12

Link all the canon tech. Also might be worth throwing the A-HUDT in there and making the targeting system 'advanced.'

Strengths:
  • Versatile jack-of-all-trades ship
  • Long range, high endurance
  • Respectable firepower and supercharge capability
Weaknesses:
  • Jack of all trades, master of none.
  • A bit large and a little slow for it's class.
  • Limitations of supercharge
  • Small bomb bay means limited effectiveness against capital ships once munitions are expended.
Description:
Description: As war continues to improve the One Sith continue to be in need of the latest starfighters in order to improve their arsenal. Malos, working along side Cyrus Tregessarhttp://starwarsrp.net/user/2118-cyrus-tregessar/http://starwarsrp.net/user/2118-cyrus-tregessar/ decided to create a starfighter for the One Sith Navy. Designed to fill a previously gapped role, that of a long-range escort and patrol fighter, the project grew in scope from where it started and has resulted in the restructuring of the One Sith Starfighter corps, with Erebos pilots set to become the standing elite.
The starfighter is built from a frame made out of the very durable Quadanium Steel, covered with a a thin layer of matrix armor. The main armor plating consists of several layers of G-32 Evasive Plating, resulting in an all around very durable craft. Given the need for endurance required with the ship however, the main defense for the craft is its shield, which is a pair of Molecular Deflector Arrays, providing double redundancy and increase resistance.

For armament the fighter makes use of recovered technology, in this case the Solar Ionization Cannon. With a limited ability to penetrate shields and an increased armor piercing effect, the cannons are effective against both strike craft and larger vessels. Additionally, a feature from the ancient Hornet-class Interceptor was installed, allowing for the cannons o be 'supercharged' for a single volley. This blast significantly magnifies their strength (including the armor piercing effect, though the shield mitigation actually doesn't function at all, looser coherency of the beam and all) and can inflict heavy damage on capital ships, potentially punching hole in the hull or tearing open a section of armor.

For dogfighting, a pair of triple tube nanomissile tubes were added, each with a magazine of 12 nanomissiles. Able to fire in volleys of 1, 2, or 3 (per launcher, for a max of 6) the nanomissiles have a smaller damage yield than traditional warheads but are very fast and excel at tracking even interceptors. Very effective against strike craft, these weapons are generally inefficient for use against capital ships, meaning the Erebos has to rely on its cannons and its bomb bay during strike missions.

The bomb bay was a late addition, designed specifically to give the Erebos some limited ability to damage capital ships beyond strafing runs. A magazine of five bombs (consisting of the usual variants, gravity, concussion, proton, plasma, etc.) with a limited targeting and firing capability, the Modular bay can be used either for traditional bombing runs or as a very short range single shot launcher. It has respectable precision, and a normal technique for Erebos pilots is to blast a hole in a capital ships armor with its cannons and follow up by launching a bomb into said hole, resulting in potentially crippling damage. The bombs can also be deployed as mines or to deter pursuit, though they're not really designed for it.

As expected of a patrol fighter, it's sensor systems are nothing short of impressive. Featuring the standard sensor systems that are common with most starfighters, as well as the Ans-7 sensor unit, the starfighter is capable of being able to sense enemy vessels from a long distance away (typically for use in reconnaissance missions, making the Erebos the perfect escort for the Shadow-class corvettes), as well as as assess enemy starfighters, weapons, etc from a short range. Like the Avenger Class Interceptor, it also features similar comm & sensor systems, and utilizes an advanced targeting array featuring the A-HUDT.

While not a dedicated EWAR fighter like the FE, the Erebos nonetheless has a comprehensive Electronic Support suite, mostly focusing on personal defense and squadron support. Beyond the purely defensive systems like cap drains and combat deionizers, it also features a large magazine of chaff and flares, and squadrons are trained in using them for counter-targeting a deception tactics.

All in all the craft is a very cabable long-range fighter, and is the first step in brining the One Sith Starfigher corps in line with the elite of the rest of the galaxy.
