Downing Drinks and Swapping Stories

Location: Crystal Eyes Cantina, Jygat, Mygeeto

The cantina was quiet today, no doubt because of the snowstorm blowing outside. A few patrons had chosen to huddle next to the antiquated fireplace which the owner had seen fit to put in, attempting to warm up.

But not the Chiss woman. She had grown up on Csilla, was used to the cold. Enjoyed it, actually. It was easy to forget the troubles of the galaxy, forget that she'd disappointed her family -- her torn apart, shattered family. Her home, too far out of reach to bother reaching for.

Dryzl sighed. Such thoughts, she knew, were simply the result of her lack of employment as of late. Oh, she had enough money to sustain herself for a time, but it was never enjoyable to be without a job for very long. Hence, why she had retreated to the frozen, crystalline world of Mygeeto.

Perhaps I should have taken Mr. Bane up on his reference offer, she thought, but instantly dismissed it. Mr. Bane was nowhere to be found, and she had no way to contact him.

Which left her nursing a sparkling water in a remote cantina on a frozen world with no friends.

It was a situation worthy of another sigh, so another sigh she gave.

This will be a long period of unemployment.

She was used to the warmth of Mandalore so Mygeeto was cold to her. The blizzard made the whole experience on this planet worse and she needed to find shelter before she froze. Shivering she pushed open the door of a nearby Cantina open and stepped inside. Ana was beginning to wish that she had brought Orick with her. They could have snuggled up together under a blanket by the fire. The thought of it even made her smile as she walked up to the bar. Normally she would have ordered herself a pint of their strongest alcoholic beverage but right now she needed something warm.

"A cup of Caf please," she stated pulling out a few credits and placing them on the bar. Nodding the bartender left to get her caf and came back in a few minutes with a mug for her. "Thank you," Ana smiled picking up the mug and finding herself a seat next to a Chiss that looked like she may need a friend. She had a not so great history with Chiss but Ana knew that wasn't the whole race she could be nice. "I hope this blizzard blows though soon." She smiled taking a sip of the caf. She didn't want to push [member="Erud'ryz'ladre"] to talk to her if she wished to be alone. The comment she felt was enough to give the woman an in if she did care to chat during the storm.

The Chiss looked up from her drink as a draft blew in, disturbing the fire and causing a few of the patrons to grumble. Dryzl, meanwhile, simply watched the blonde woman walk over. Her face was its usual impassivity as she studied this new arrival who had chosen to sit next to her.

The human was a stranger, that was for sure. Her looks could have been considered quite attractive, too, if the Chiss were into that sort of thing. A....what was the word....bombshell? Perhaps -- despite her time travelling the greater galaxy, the bodyguard was still unused to the various uses of Basic Words. In any case, she also carried with her a sense of strength, though whether she herself knew it or not was irrelevant to the blue woman. All she knew was that this woman was one with whom avoiding a fight would be advisable.

Her assessment done, Erud'ryz'ladre took a sip of her water and finally answered the comment. "Nah ch'ah. I find the cold to be refreshing. It reminds me of home." Unsure of what else to say, she fell silent, taking another sip of water.

"Where is home?" Ana turned slightly quite curious as to where she was from. Her guess was from Csilla but that was based on her race nothing more. It was possible that she came from one of the other frigidly cold planets. The young woman couldn't fathom why anybody would want to live in such a place. She enjoyed sunlight, beaches, rich green forests but that was her. Ana knew that others were different. Snow and cold were not all bad, just like everything else it had its ups and downs.

Taking a sip of her caf she sighed spinning a bit in the chair so she was facing her new acquaintance. "I'm Anastasia by the way, it's nice to meet you." She smiled taking another sip of her warm beverage. She was still cold but the beverage was helping a little bit. Ana may even be inclined to take a nice trip here. It would be something different from her normal getaway with him. She had a feeling he wouldn't have an issue going with her.

Ana was a chatty bubbly person but it wasn't often she met someone whom was not Vode to chat with whom was female. She was glad thus far the woman seemed to be ok talking to her.

Dryzl frowned slightly, running her finger around the rim of her glass before replying. "It is a place far, far away from here." Because, or in spite of, her love for her home planet, talking about Csilla brought back memories of nostalgia and, more recently, pangs of sadness.

But no matter.

When the woman introduced herself as Anastasia, the Chiss inclined her head in acknowledgement before taking another drink of water. She waited a moment as the cold liquid slid down her throat, deciding which name to give this...Anastasia woman.

Coming to the conclusion that there was no arm in giving both, she turned her head slightly. "Hah cart ttis'ah ch'at csan'vun't vah, Anastasia. You may call me Dryzl, as my given name is difficult for..." A red eye once again assessed the woman, trying to decipher her species. The second look gave doubt to her original assignment of 'human', and she had to think of a better term. "For most humanoids and nah Swerr."

Another mouthful of water went down her throat. Dryzl usually did not talk this much to strangers, but there was something...different, about this young woman. An openness, almost, in her manner. And, at the very least, this impromptu conversation might yield a new client.

With that in mind, the Chiss posed a question of her own. "What manner brings you here, if I may ask?"

Ana knew a little Cheunh due to her time with Cryax a few years ago. She had been young, silly and not thinking very clearly. The relationship had been abruptly cut short after a break up text. It was months later that she found out that he had also been cheating on her with a man no less. The young woman at the time had been embarrassed in regards to her behavior and swore off men. It was much easier that way for her besides she had other issues to deal with. It was years later that she by chance came across another whom took her breath away.

"It's nice to meet you Dryzl." She warmly smiled as she took another sip of her drink. Ana guessed that home was either a sore spot for her or not something she wished to revel to just a passerby. She could understand and respect that, there were many things Ana herself didn't want out in the open.

"I'm here on business but now I'm regretting coming. The blizzard is making it even harder to do my job." She sighed twirling the cup around in her hand. This was supposed to be a simple thing and now it was getting much more complexed. "Come here for the sights?"

Dryzl snorted into her cup. "You may say that." The truth was, this was one of only a few worlds she knew of which could-- well, not replace Csilla, but at the very least serve as a stand in.

Besides, the Chiss didn't have a permanent home, not really. She slept in her Clawcraft most of the time, though when she was on duty her clients often gave her a room for herself. But she had never had a good enough reason to settle down permanently -- even on Mygeeto, which she frequented often.

Not that she was going to confide all of this to Anastasia; they were, after all, barely acquaintances. (And not that she would ever admit it, but Dryzl didn't want to come across as soft).

So, instead, to keep the conversation going with this nah Swerr, the Chiss asked, "What is your job, if I may inquire?"

Dryzl wasn't exactly super friendly but Ana couldn't really blame her. She was a stranger to Ana and as such acted that way all closed off. Sighing Ana took another sip of the caf hoping that she wasn't bothering the woman but Ana had an odd feeling that she wasn't. If the Chiss hadn't wished to 'chat' she would have told Ana to back off from the beginning. Perhaps she was learning to be more sociable? Gosh knows Ana was still trying to learn that lesson herself and not be so closed off. There were still times Ana caught herself looking over her shoulder making sure she wasn't being followed and just at the slightest noise.

"I'm a business woman," Ana stated as she looked to grab the bartender for a refill of her caf. It wasn't a lie, however it wasn't the full truth. She did own a shop with her husband but the young woman also dabbled in smuggling on top of being a Mandalorian. Her acquaintance didn't need to know her life story. "I was checking something out for my partner. May I inquire on what you do?" Ana didn't wasn't to be nosy just trying to be friendly and get to know her more. Perhaps make a new friend.

A business woman? How intriguing. The Chiss's mind immediately connected that phrase to more criminalistic tendencies, but she shooed it away. Clearly, she had spent too much time with Mr. Bane and the Red Ravens, if that was where her brain went first. Though, heaven knew she hadn't been around them that much, as of late...

"I am a bodyguard," she replied, after a second of processing the question. Dryzl hesitated again, wondering how much to tell. After all, she didn't necessarily feel the need to share her life story with this stranger.

But the stranger was also in business, and whether legit or illicit, businessmen and women always needed protection. So, it was only logical that the Chiss continue with her (hopefully) subtle attempt at landing a new job.

"I am currently unemployed at the moment, though," the woman added, taking another mouthful of water. "My previous employer was, ah, specialised in undisclosed activities. Recent events forced him to go underground, and he released my contract..." Unusual for the normally emotionless Chiss, Dryzl made a faint, displeased face. "For my own safety."

Even now, while harbouring no ill feelings towards Mr. Bane, Erud'ryz'ladre disagreed with his decision to cut her loose. She had been his bodyguard, and that meant she was supposed to protect him, not the other way around. And if she died, so be it -- that was, after all, her job.

But no matter.

Realising she was close to ranting (well, for her it would be considered ranting) to this blonde woman, and not wanting to return to the whole "should I have fought" issue, the Chiss slid her cup forward for the bartender. "More water, please. Bin'vah vah."
