All troops are equipped with a Model 210 personal armor and a Talon vibrodagger as standard.

Description: Directorate Marines are shipboard or facility-based troops, used for shipboard or facility security, boarding actions, and so-called "beachhead" assaults. To this end, most of their equipment and training focuses on close-quarters combat operations of a limited field duration. While this limits their strategic usefulness, they are rather exceptional as shock troops.

Perhaps unusually, Directorate marines are culturally centered on the concept of a platoon, the smallest independently operational force of the Directorate Marine Corps.

Training:
Directorate marines come from a variety of backgrounds but many are former Republic soldiers, corporate security, or citizens of the world of Hast. While they do bring their skills and experiences from their past, marines are really formed at individual basic training at Camp Shipwright on the world of Hast. Initial training is fairly similar to those of galactic powers, with most of their day being taken up by drill & ceremony, physical fitness, marksmanship, and other combat training taking up most of the first few months of training. Individuals then move on to advanced training based on their roles in the platoon, such as medicine for medics and advanced weapons and armor training for infantry. Much of this later training is focused on learning to act and move in their fire teams, eventually resulting in the near mastery of executing the Directorate's established battle drills in realistic simulations.
When the members of the platoon complete training, the vast majority usually remain together as a new line platoon. This helps to promote an unusually strong esprit de corps centered around the platoon. As a result of this high degree of familiarity and intimacy, new Directorate platoons are typically much more cohesive and organized compared to other green units.

Equipment:

Most of the Directorate marine's equipment is tried and true equipment that predates the Directorate's formation. However, they are fortunate enough to be equipped with several advanced products from Aurora Industries, notably the Burststreak Heavy Weapon System. While it is expected that each marine will master the use of their equipment, there is a deliberate focus on the individual level to cross-train with the equipment of another fire team member in case that member becomes incapacitated. Squad leaders are especially taught and then encouraged to take initiative in using the equipment at their disposal in complementary ways to reflect the changing tactical environment without waiting for orders from those higher up the change of command.

Tactics:
On paper, the smallest tactical unit is the four-man firing team consisting of two riflemen, a grenadier, and a gunner equipped with a repeating weapon. In actuality, most fire teams are further divided up into two man "battle-buddy" teams, with riflemen providing the especially mobile portion of the team and the gunner/grenadier team providing unusual firepower. Fire teams on the squad level tend to use move and shoot techniques, where one fire team will advance or retreat in conjunction with the other fire team providing supporting fire from behind cover or concealment. This forms the base of Directorate Marine tactics which are then altered to suit the situation. Squad leaders work towards tactical objectives typically set by the platoon's Sergeant First Class or Lieutenant. The Sergeant First Class typically focuses on accomplishing immediate tactical objectives whereas the Lieutenant typically focuses on the platoon's action on company or higher level plans. The platoon's two medics tend to either stay in the rear with the command personnel or are attached to a particularly embattled squad where casualties are expected.
