Description: The JSA-12 pistol is a custom-crafted gun used solely by Jak Sandrow. Created from both modern blaster pistols and ancient slug-thrower parts, the JSA-12 is Jak’s 12th attempt at making a custom pistol suited for his needs. The JSA primarily uses modified slugs that Jak personally crafts; however, it is also compatible with ordinary slugs. There is a small hidden compartment within the pistol’s grip that can be used to store two extra rounds, or any object of similar size.

The pistol’s lengthened barrel allows for greater accuracy, at a slight expense of range. That, and the fact that the round itself is a physical object, make the range somewhat lousy compared to standard-issue blaster weapons. A completely enclosed ‘recoil suppression system’ prevents the pistol from being ripped out of the hand of the user when fired, at a further expense of range. The recoil suppression system prevents too much kick, but it cannot eliminate all of it; the recoil is about the same as a standard-issue heavy blaster.

The pistol’s revamped semi-auto function allows for a rapid yet precise rate of fire. The intent is to get as many slugs out of the gun and into the enemy, as fast as possible, without wasting any from a full-auto spread. The ultimate purpose of the gun is to either provide adequate cover fire to get out of a ‘bad deal’, or to completely shred through advancing infantry (reloading can be a pain, though).

The JSA-12 uses custom-crafted slugs made with metal slugs and miniscule energy packs. The slug is about 4 cm long and 10 mm diameter (1.5” x ⅜”). The slugs themselves are hollow shells filled with a type of explosive energy pack that detonates once the round has made a large deceleration (i.e. hits a body or a wall). The detonation is potent enough to more-or-less obliterate a 15-cm-radius (30-cm-wide) sphere of most material (certain materials are tougher). Note: in comparison, the energy bolt from a Clone Wars –era rifle was powerful enough to rip a 75-cm-wide hole in a durasteel bulkhead.

However, the slug’s cartridge's propellant is powerful enough to give this pistol both a large muzzle flash and a loud ‘bang’, about half again as bright and loud as a normal slugthrower’s shot. This completely defeats any attempt at stealth, but then again, this pistol is not used for stealth. Thanks to a slightly modified firing system, the pistol can be fired underwater or in space/vacuum, due to the propellant being entirely enclosed within each round. Also, each round can be individually set off with enough contact force on the inner firing primer (significant force is needed).

Due to the slug’s physical nature, it can easily be affected or just brushed aside with the Force – for example, they could be Force-pushed to the side, or simply held in place, and the firing pins within the gun can be Force-pushed to shoot prematurely. However, the first two will simply detonate the slug where it ‘floats’ in midair – from the sudden deceleration.

The rounds are capable of shredding through any substance, given enough shots and time. They aren’t particularly efficient versus a tank or air vehicle, but they are relatively effective against droids and regular body armor. Against beskar or cortosis, though - or similar armor - these slugs are all but useless. Lightsabers will detonate the slugs upon contact, as will a very precise blaster bolt.

All in all, the JSA-12 is a pretty good medium range pistol. Its main strengths are its ammo’s lethality and accuracy at close range, and its weaknesses are reload time and lousy effective range. For long-term combat, these are extremely inefficient, as they take only slugs as ammo, but for a diversion or getaway tactic… well, there isn’t much else that these would make sense to be used for. The ammo itself, while not expensive to make or to buy the parts, isn’t exactly easy to make, and as such, every shot must count.

Primary Source: Based on the Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum

** It is possible to fire 6 shots in less than a second. **

This is a solid concept, but there's a couple of details to work out.

As it currently stands, the submission doesn't adhere to the ranged weapons template.

As far as current statistics, I'd recommend lowering the rate of fire. If this works on traditional revolver mechanics, I'd recommend a shot every one to two seconds.

For effective range, If you're basing it on the real life .44 Magnum, I'd recommend about 50 meters. Ballistically, there's a pretty big drop off after that range in terms of trajectory.

How does this work? Do the powerpacks expode and thus propel the slug like a conventional slugthrower through combustion? Or is there a different system at play?

Template has been cleaned up

Rate of fire has been significantly lowered to 1 shot per second

Effective range has been lowered to a [real-life-accurate] 70 meters

Description of slugs has been clarified; each round consists of a propellant-filled cartridge, and a powerpack-filled slug, the former of which detonates upon firing, and the latter of which detonates upon contact or sudden deceleration

I see that you're a Jerry Miculek fan as well. He's certainly an impressive shooter, and probably close to being the only one in his league right now.
