Coruscant Nights

Verrin had a soft spot for Coruscant, and at night, the entire planet seemed to transform into an array of lights that could easily be seen from orbit. Of course, the lower in Coruscant he went the less the light seems to penetrate into the dark center of the planet where the light seemed to be faint and isolated usually taking the form of dim lighting on the roof and the weak lighting of signs aligning the walls and shops.

The people of Lower Coruscant were among his favorite in the galaxy. Sometimes they could be crude, violent, and gang affiliated, but the small families and single parents working numerous shifts to try and make their children's lives better were other people that lived on the lower sections of Coruscant. They faced numerous hardships, but they still fought for the hopes of a better future and represented the spirit that Verrin liked to think was the Republic.

Verrin walked down the dimly lit, but crowded, streets enjoying the evening breeze, which was really industrial fans pushing clean recycled air through the lower sections. No matter how many walks he took through Coruscant, he felt he learned more and more about the planet, but also became aware of how little he knew about it. What would he run into this time?

He could faintly hear the sounds of struggle in a nearby alley and rushed towards it as his instincts told him something was wrong, and his sense in the force told him of the aggression and fear that was spiking in whoever was inside. Turning a corner, Verrin reached for his lightsaber and looked down the alleyway to find the source of his unease.

Aerin gritted her teeth, wiping the blood from her mouth and getting back up. She shouldered the man in his side, slamming him into the alley wall. The homeless girl cowered in the corner, her eyes filled with fear. "RUN!" Aerin cried as she struggled to hold the man back. The girl dashed up the alley and rounded the corner. Aerin sighed a little. At least she was safe. Her small moment of relief was short-lived when the man broke free. He grabbed Aerin by the throat, pinning her to the ground. "Not a smart idea, girly," He hissed.

Verrin Ris'To

Verrin barely managed to move in time as the young girl ran past them, brushing past his robes. Verrin's sharp eyes took in the sight before him as his natural low-light vision made it easy to spot the details, a man holding down a teenage girl, who looked to be the same age as him, by the throat as he pinned her to the ground. He didn't really need to see anymore as some of the things men tried to do to young women in alleyways was enough to force him into action.

He moved forward, trying to keep the sound he created to a minimum, so he didn't spook the man who may have a weapon. He didn't want her to get hurt because he acted rashly. It was... hard not to be rash. This teenage girl was trying to protect another young girl from this man, and now she was being pinned under him. He couldn't get a very good look at her, but he wasn't about to let her get hurt for doing the right thing.

Getting closer, Verrin drew his lightsaber, the infamous crackle as the blade activated, the green light filled the alleyway as it gave off a soft hum, "I wouldn't do that if I was you," Verrin said holding the saber off to his side, "Get off her."

The man looked up at the Jedi, momentarily distracted. Aerin seized the opportunity. Using the Force, she pushed him off of her. He slammed up against the wall again, this time much harder. He was bleeding, but still awake. Aerin stood up, gasping for breath. She drew her lightsaber and let its blue light flood over the man. "Not a smart idea, girly," She spat back at him. That's when things began to change. Her eyes began to flicker a bright, piercing red. "You chose the wrong night to play pedophile, old man." Her voice changed. It became sharper, colder, and more mature. She let out a cry of pain, and fell to her knees. Her lightsaber slipped from her hands and hit the pavement with a clink."Stop it. Jen...STOP IT!" She said through her teeth, gripping her head in her hands.

Verrin Ris'To

Verrin was surprised when he saw the sudden influx of force power that she channeled to slam the man into the wall as well as by the blue lightsaber she held in her hand. He moved forward suddenly worried that she had intended to kill the man as while he may certainly deserve it; he couldn't let her murder the man in cold blood.

Then... she changed. Her voice grew colder, deeper, and she felt darker. Verrin gripped his lightsaber feeling that he may very well have to step in and stop her when she fell to her knees, dropping the lightsaber and started to tell someone named Jen to stop it. Was she Jen? Was that her name? The darker taint in the force as well as her voice seemed to have changed back, but more then that, he was worried by the girl as she held her head in her hands.

Deactivating his lightsaber, Verrin hung it back on his belt, and slowly moved closer to her, crouching in front of her, "Hey... are you alright?" It was a dumb question, Verrin knew that, but it was also a question he had to ask. He wanted to reach out and try to calm her down, but he didn't want to upset her anymore then she already was. He had yet to get a clear look at her face as both times she had either been looking aware from him or at the sky, now her head was in her hands making it nearly impossible to get a look.

"I am Verrin, a Jedi..." he said trying to introduce himself in hopes it may help her.
