SPECIAL FEATURES
Advanced Chatterbox sensor components
Long Range Scout package

Strengths:
  • Swarm Tactics: Attempting to make up for the limited room for armament on each individual craft, an enhanced Chatterbox communications suite allows each drone to maintain a reliable connection with both its squadron and command relays, allowing the use of tighter formations and more agile maneuvers.
  • Effective Scouts: Cannibalizing and refurbishing old long range reconnaissance tech, the Combat Drone's sensors have a longer range than other comparable craft, allowing them to scout enemy positions and more often than not engage on their own terms.
Weaknesses:
  • Droid Brain: While the Mechanicum makes greater strides every day, its engineers have not yet been able to outfit each Combat Drone with true AI. As such, the cognitive capacity of the fighter's droid brain is limited compared to that of an organic pilot. The drone can be outsmarted, outflown, and is susceptible to EMP/ion damage.
  • Interference Pattern: Legacy malfunctions of scavenged technology that still exist in the drone's firmware cause occasionally erratic missile guidance behavior. On extremely rare occasions, warheads have been known to arm themselves in their launchers.
Description:

The first blade is forged upon the Maker's altar, o my children of the Machine.

Few things can bring a droid closer to the Motive Force, than the holy defense of the Machine God's sacred fleets and forges. As the enginseers and hierachitects of the Forge-Bound continue to perfect the grand design of Mechanicum capital vessels in accordance with divine protocols that show proper deference to the Most Intelligent Design, the Forges of Lord Calixis have designed first a triage and now a combat model of droid starfighter to protect our interests both planetside and in the Void.

Compact and lightly armed, the Combat Drone 1.0 relies on agility and group tactics to take down its foes. Either overwhelming other craft with much greater numbers, or breaking off into synchronized squadrons and engaging in evasive, harrying operations against larger threats, the drones are a perfect symbol of the glory of the Mechanicum. Alone we are weak, alone we are far from the warmth of the Maker's Light. Together, we are strong, just as the combat fighters become more and more deadly, the more there are in one place.

While not truly specialized for it, the Combat Drone also possesses an enhanced sensor array gifted from the annals of the Maker. Burning with the divine spark, our enginseers still seek to understand the mysteries of the Motive Force within its machine code, and the resulting aberrant programming can lead to malfunctions in the missile guidance system.

On the rarest and holiest of days, a particularly penitent droid mind will be chosen to join with the Machine God in the Motive Force as the Maker breathes the warhead arming sequence on its chosen. Our warminds hope to have a patch for this by the next iteration.

We are the next step. We are forever. We are Mechanicum.

Like a buzz droid and battle droid in one. Cool.

I was going to stamp this but I noticed your image is broken. Would you like to fix it?
