Intent: A vong version of a lightsaber. Much insult has been thrown to the Vong, in way of the YVH and their mimicry of Vong physiology with technology. This was developed to counter this heinous insult. This weapon is primarily for PC usage with the occasional WarMaster of the Hrosha-Gul being allowed to use it (limited production)

Development Thread: There is No Redoubt of our efforts., A Total Eclipse of the Vahl

Manufacturer: Titan Industries/One Sith

Model: Standard Vong Saber (Chom-Huun)

Affiliation: One Sith and Hrosha-Gul members.

Modularity: No

Production: Limited

Material: Organic (shaped Chom-Vrone and Amphistaff - further re-purposed), Lambent Crystals

Classification: Light Saber

Size: One-Handed

Length: 0.40 meters for hilt, 0.5 - 1.1 meters for blade. Ranges from 0.9 to 1.5 meters in total length.

Weight: 1 kg

Special Features:

-Hilt is made of yorik coral exterior, thus damage resistance.
-Since this is Vong, the lightsaber is relatively immune to the force.
-Allows a weak capability for force users to sense nearby vong
-Helps to deter the anger, for vong, caused by YVH Droids (appearance only, doesn't combat any special programming)

Description:

"Behold...the maddening of the blasphemous machinations are met with mimicry, in turn!" - Yurzhoc Shai

After many war time efforts, the Vong came to the realization that their stock houses were overfilled with Lambent crystals. While there are many purposes that the crystal can serve, they had been overharvested in the presence of dovin basals. Lambent crystals provided a certain weakness to structural points on vong or vong formed planets, leading to a desire to dispose the crystals in safe a non hazardous manner. This led to shapers working with the native Chom-Vrone, a large cylindrical beast that was used to dig through rock and debris. The natural processes allowed for the monster to consume rock and convert it into energy, which was exuded from their exterior.

The sharper's got to work, harvesting young-ling Chom-Vrone, in an effort to create a more manageable size. As it turns out, they were able to prevent growth between the .2 and .4 meter interval, allowing the species to exist in this smaller and more manageable size without fear of growth in the future. Set upon the lambent crystal stocks, after much experimentation in genetic makeup, the Chom-Huun, as they were called, were capable of consuming lambent crystal and digesting them with relative ease. In general, it takes roughly 1 week to consume a lambent crystal entirely and the Chom-Huun can retain up to 4 full sized lambent crystals within it's gut at any given time. However, the young age of the Chom-Huun and failure to properly develop specific physiological components means one thing: Unlike the Chom-vrone, the Chrom-Huun were incapable of retaining the digested energy within their body. This produces, essentially, a defecated beam of energy through the portion of the body that would be synonymous with the emitter, though this is anatomically considered an undeveloped rectum. However, the beam was widely dispersed and unfocused, much like a fan.

A great number of store houses were destroyed at the precipice of this shaping, but much was gained. After discovering the cause of the explosions, the shapers went to work once more, under the tutelage of a Titan Industries Scientist, Dr. Alset Niest. While he was totally incapable of understanding the physiology of the Vong Chom-Huun, he was capable of directing shapers in a method to replicate the technological energy of the lightsaber. They were first instructed to replicate the focusing lenses of the typical lightsaber. Thus, the shaper's moved the eyeballs of the species to the inside of the organism, allowing the energy to be focused through transparent chitin lenses of the eyes. While they worked on that, Dr. Alset Niest went to work on dissecting the specimen in order to understand it. He found that, for the most part, the lambent crystals were producing the energy from slow decomposition and application of heat within the body. He also found that the body had created a system of circuits through intertwined intestinal tracts, dispersing the energy along channels before emitting it through the weakened rectum. So he put the the shapers towards developing that system, allowing for control of defacation through an exterior polyp that controls the rectum muscle. Of course, it had to be strengthened as well. The Chom-Huun had inherited the yorik-coral exterior from it's predecessor, allowing it to have a form of durability on the outside while remaining fleshy and pulsating within - much like a breathing and exhaling exoskeleton.

After completing modifications, the shapers performed one last transformation. Taking general properties from the amphistaff, shapers built in the capacity for the Chom-Huun to change shape at the request of the wielder. This, of course, was attached to two transparent polyps on the exterior of the hilt (though in actuality, these specific polyps are intestinal hernias of the intestinal tract that cause a pain stimuli for the Chom-huun). Depression of either would allow for transition back and forth between being curved and being straight. This was a unique property of the hilt as it allowed a specific mold to the wielder of the weapon. A trait, which after initial transformation, the organism would retain through the extent of it's life (meaning the specific curved format would develop for the initial time, and would retain that mold from therein after).

Studies by the Dr. Alset Neist rendered the following observations (Strengths/Weaknesses):

[-]The length and strength of the energy is entirely dependent on the amount of stored lambent crystals. As the Chom-Huun digests the lambent crystals, the blade length decreases, unless the organism is fed. The mouth is synonymous with the pommel of typical lightsabers. However, this also means that in order to power the hilt, two crystals must be in the Chom-huun at any time (one crystal for energy, the other for energy transformation).

[-]The rectum required immense strengthening in order to work properly. It's fortunate that the eyes are self-healing, and really the only portion of the organism that heals nearly instantly. This allows destruction of the lens while constantly healing - giving the beam an almost pulsating appeal as the beam clarifies and distorts. However, this is also means that the beam in unstable and unpredictable.

[-]The organisms binds with the wielder, which must go through a ritual to appease the Chom-Huun. Much like lambent plants, the hilt must first be treated tenderly and softly before 'mating' with it's wielder. If separated from it's wielder, the hilt will refuse to eat and die after 4 weeks without food.

[-]While this is a Vong species, the wielding of the weapon is inherently non-vong. It takes a great amount of practice and utilization for a vong to get the hang of using this weapon. Once again, an oddity, as this is inherently Vong and only an issue for the select, and limited, number of Vong allowed to 'court' the Chom-Huun.

[-/+]The Chom-Huun appear to be immune to the force in the same manner as other vong species. Not surprising.

[+]Much like old growing plants, the species has no determined life span. As far as one can discern, this species is capable of surviving extremely harsh conditions (including space) so long as it is fed on appropriate intervals. However, this also means that a constant supply of Lambent crystals is required for continued usage, which are now harvested upon the Vong-formed Selvaris.

[+]This species shows no allergic reaction to either sparkbee honey or baffor pollen. Curious, I was under the impression that all vong species were allergic to these compounds.

[+]Training with this specific crystal has confirmed a capacity for the wielder to 'sense' vong in proximity, much like how Jedi and Sith can sense others around them with the force. This might be an artifact of lambent crystal consumption, which historically has shown the capacity to strengthen a force users ability to sense nearby Vong.

[+]It is my understanding that Vong have trouble dealing with YVH droids because the droids present a "blasphemous" presentation of the Vong species. Sound and sight. However, Yurzhoc Shai, when presented with a replica of the droid, was able to stave off the rage induced by the image. We believe this is due to the fact that the Chom-huun supplied a counter to the problem, replicating technology with an entirely biological vong species. Along with this, the vong perceive this 'saber' to be far superior to a technical lightsaber, as it is relatively immune to the "molestations" of the force.

I think that the yuuzhan vong tech is being over used personally...but your submission is outstanding even without development I would have approved this on the merit of the research and submission alone. Very well done.
