Approved NPC Captain Miraenni Miet'Ra

Status
Not open for further replies.
Name: Captain Miraenni Miet'Ra, AKA Captain Ra, Mirae, Mimi

Loyalties: Formerly the KDY, now GUIDE and by extension Magdalena Lethe

Role: Captain and keeper of GUIDE's mobile HQ The Beacon of Broadcast [BoB]

Development Threads: N/A

Age: 37
Species: Cathar
Force Sensitivity: Yes, untrained.

Appearance: Mirae is a silver-tiger variance of the cathar race. Pelt is a soft ashen color that darkens to black on her lower arms and legs with visible tiger stripes along the edges of her face, arms, legs, back, and tail. Her face is round and soft with large, round violet eyes rimmed in black; hair is short, black, straight, and frames her skull in a perfectly maintained dutch cut. She has a long, thick tail rimmed with black stripes, the underlying grey coat darkens to black at the end. Like all baseline cathar stock Mirae is quite tall, lean, well muscled, and sports mobile, tufted ears at her upper skull. Fangs and retractable claws on hands and feet complete the look.

Personality: Adventurous. Intelligent. Self-disciplined. Mirae is enigmatic and personable with a quirky sense of humor. She has a thirst for the mysterious and dangerous that can make her a bit wily at times, but a sense of duty to keep her well-enough in check. Mirae does not suffer fools and runs a tight ship. She expects her crew to be as well disciplined as she and will tolerate nothing less than 110% from them. Always on-point, her keen senses and connection to the Force allow her to operate her ship with what many like to call a sixth sense. She is an excellent navigator and has a certain instinct for taking the right path. Were she to receive official Force training on these skills she'd likely be up there with the greats like Jorus Merrill.

Despite her otherwise spotless pedigree, Mirae is not for everyone. Though polite and civil, she is overly bossy and stubborn and wil rarely take the advice or opinion of someone else without several grains of salt. She has a bit of a racial superiority complex which tends to lead her to believe all humans are dimwitted and soggy between the ears - creatures to be pitied and lead along like cows - until she is proven otherwise. This can and does often rub people the wrong way and give a bad first impression for the otherwise honorable Captain. She doesn't make friends easily and those she has made are usually only there because they are forced to work with her.

Mirae has something of a cleanliness ... issue. Call her OCD but things must be exactly right or it's going to be a bad day. Uniform must be immaculate and pressed, hair just right, cravats straight, laces even, bed made, etc etc. Disunity of color, size and shape will distract her to the point of putting everything on hold until it is fixed. Don't even get her started on symmetry. It is absolutely essential.

There are to be no flowers or flora of any kind or sort on her ship. Ever. She has a terrible allergy to pollen and will devolve into sneezing kitty-fits if she so much as catches a whiff of posies.

She has no idea how to cook. Her people don't cook - they eat raw meat. Did I mention she's strictly carnivorous?

Her tail is strictly off-limits and very sensitive. No touchy.

Shiny and/or round and/or crinkly objects will distract her. As will male catlings.

There may or may not be a shrine devoted to the Felacat Jedi Knight [member="Meeristali Peradun"] in her bedchambers. We can neither confirm nor deny this.

Mirae sinks like a stone in water and avoids it at all costs.

Weapon of Choice: Mirae received full military training and so is skilled in melee combat and can wield a blaster with great precision. With her cathar speed, agility and strength used in conjunction with her fangs and claws she makes a formidable opponent in close quarters.

Wealth: Previously employed by the KDY, Mirae lived comfortably on the paycheck as the Captain of the KDY Command ship for external affairs. Though she and her crew were offered to GUIDE as part of KDY's investment into the up and coming company, her paycheck is still signed by KDY as part of the agreement.

Combat Function: Instinctive battle strategy. Melee and ranged combat. Piloting and Captaining a myriad of ship types.

Skills: Aside from her military training and instincts, Mirae boasts a very broad spectrum of knowledge where piloting and captaining ships are concerned. There is very little out there she cannot fly, and with her natural leadership skills very little out there she cannot command and Captain.

Notable Possessions: Nothing of importance to note.

Other Notes: Though born and raised on Cathar Mirae often dreamed of something bigger and grander than the tree cities of her home planet. In her early twenties she bid her family goodbye to pursue just that. Her travels took her to the Galactice Republic and Coruscant where she joined the military and eventually worked her way into the navy. Her instinctive navigation skills and quick reflexes earned her the attention of the right people that transferred her to the Naval Academy on Kuat. There, after many years, Mirae worked her way up to Captaining larger fleeting vessels for the Republic and at some point impressed the Kuati Sovereign and promoted to Captain of the KDY Command Ship Eralis much to the surprise of many.

Under the One Sith regime, however, Mirae found herself at port more often than not with KDY's arms tied to serving only the Empire. Aware of her boredom and unspoken disappointment, when the opportunity presented itself the CEO offered Mirae and her crew to the up and coming Galactic United Information Database Enclave to command their mobile HQ, the Beacon of Broadcast, as part of her investment into her company. It got the moping cat-captain out of her hair and gave Mirae what she really itched for: adventure. Mirae accepted the job eagerly.

Intent: To codify the new Captain of the Beacon of Broadcast

Alright, so let me start out by saying this is an excellently realized character. Well thought out, good backstory, the works.

My only complaint is that she seems a little too good at everything. She can fly, she can fight, she can shoot, she's an excellent captain, so on and so forth. There needs to be something to balance her out. Offhand, I'd suggest dropping the Force sensitivity, but I'm open to other suggestions.
