Business proposals and ship building?

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
The galaxy was an ever changing place, and Marek needed to get the hang of that. He was used to having things go smooth, but nothing was going smooth. Why weren’t things going smooth? Oh, right, shipyards falling. Still, that wasn’t unexpected, with Incom running. What he needed to do was to lock down a company that stuck to their guns and weren’t afraid to deal with a government that might be a bit… darker than most.

And that meant he had one place to go. There was one company he wanted to start more dealings with, and well, historically, they had bought out the firm he was running currently. Having arrived on Lianna on his personal shuttle, Marek stepped off and made to head directly for the Santhe HQ. Did he set up an appointment? Not quite, but he did shout out to his assistant where he was going, so word must’ve come ahead of his arrival.

The Corellian Force user was confident that this was where he needed to go. They needed ships, he had ideas for ships, and he had a few other business proposals for the man in charge. It was just a matter of waiting until [member="Jared Ovmar"] was ready to see him. Marek was starting to get his feet wet in the wider Galactic games of business, and he was seeing more and more of the Santhe CEO.

He could only hope that the business of the Confederacy outweighed the fact that they dropped shipyards on people.

The Foreman of the Techno Union has arrived on our doorstep, mister Ovmar. Do you wish to see him, or should I turn him away? No, it’s fine, sweetheart. Sent him in. Of course, mister Ovmar.

That’s roughly how the conversation went and after waiting for a few moments Starchaser found himself escorted into my office, finding me standing in front of the gigantic window which filled up the entire backwall. Good view, best way to think philosophical thoughts, while staring into the depths of the Lianna Skyline.

Eventually, I spoke. I am a mentalist, not a God. Wasn’t really sure what Marek was looking for, but I could make an educated guess.

“Mister Starchaser, I am pleasantly surprised. How can I help you?”

Approaching Ovmar was always something unique. He was one of the people Marek didn't mind. He had. A similar mindset to the Corellian. And well, short of hunting the same women they didn't seem to have any real negative concerns about one another. Hell, they even went after different contracts.

Why was he here? "Mainly business, good sir." His drawing accent was not here. Professional Marek. Not that he was concerned. If he was going to make Santhe some money, that was going to grab Jared interest. The rest of it. That was a bit trickier. "But before I start, does Santhe have any concerns working or selling to the Confederacy?"

A snort came as a reply, I wasn’t really the guy who cared about… well… you know. Publicity was important, bad or good. As long as Santhe ain’t gonna be embargoed by the nations it does business with? I wouldn’t care. Which I said as much.

“‘slong as the Confederacy ain’t dropping any orbital shipyards on my factories and other assets, think we will be fine, mister Starchaser.”

Then I waited for a further explanation, couldn’t be the only thing the man wanted. Honestly though, I liked the guy. Seemed a pretty okay of a man, doesn't try and infringe upon my territory. Only thing that was important in this business, as far as I am concerned.

Marek grinned. Dealing with Jared, and a few other people whom he'd been meeting lately around the galaxy, was refreshing. Maybe it was part of Marek not caring and just wanting to make money. And keep his systems relatively safe. Or at least providing weapons.

"I'm fairly sure we've added not doing that to our military law. Especially after my complaint." The Starchaser nodded. "But if you give me the full list of your public facilities I'll make sure to move them to a safe list."

Because the military listened to him.

"But with the recent situation, we've been having a few changes going on. The biggest is our loss of Incom. Clearly we need someone to provide us with starfighters. And my board at Haor Chall has requested I contact you and your company, for... historical reasons."

The bugs on Charros four were a bit odd.

Ah.. full circle it seemed. I wasn’t unaware of the fact that Haor Chall had been a subsidiary of Santhe Corporation back in the heyday, before the Gulag Plague had made sure that almost no communication could be established. Wasn’t really surprising things fell out of place since then, but I didn’t really mind. Wasn’t Starchaser’s fault, and I could understand a desire to be independant. Didn’t mean I wasn’t considering plans to bring them back into the fold.

But that was irrelevant for now, the starfighters of Sienar Fleet Systems was our blood and livelihood. This could be a big deal, depending on what Marek had to offer. Didn’t show that though, my back was still facing him, still looking through the window at my city.

“Oh?”

For all Haor Chall was good, they lacked the size and infrastructure and fame larger companies had. Sure. They were able to release a few products that did well in their market, but that didn't lock them in like others. Working with Santhe would be good. Especially for designs and creating other products. Droid fighters and shuttles mainly.

"What I'm looking for is a company to produce and provide us with starfighters. Basics. Bombers, Interceptors, and standard fighters. Potentially larger gunships as well. Haor Chall would also like to work with your engineers on the latter. As well as droid fighters. The contract would need the fighters built in our space, for at least 66%, and preferably with Confederate citizens as workers. Of course you can use the factories for export orders as well." Because credits. And tariffs. Minor ones. Don't bother the Techno Union companies with too many concerns to chase them away.

"Of course, the remaining third is all up to you. And we could assist with updating any facilities in our space." Why not.

It was a fair deal and honestly I ain’t in the mood to go negotiating about making it a smaller percentage. Exclusivity is a profitable venture, so I just nodded. Still, there were other things here, Haor Chall was a small company in a big galaxy. Maybe Marek would be interested in a.. different deal.

“Seems agreeable. Sent any relevant papers to my paper pushers, and they will check out if there are any issues. Is there anything else, you would like to discuss?”

Let’s see if he has anything else on his mind, before I hit him with my offer.

Well that was a bit more simple than he expected. Just the way he preferred. Marek nodded. Pulling out his data pad he sent a quick note out. They would get the contract moving.

"The paperwork will be with you within the day. On top of that. It's not government related. But Haor Chall is stating to struggle. The board is interested in working with Santhe. And are curious as to if a deal can be worked out. Technology and supply sharing?" Really it would become a merger in a short time, but he didn't want to tell the bugs that. But working with or for Jared wasn't a bad idea. No worse than working for Silk or under Danger.
