Special Features
  • Modular: With a minimally complex reassembly process, like its predecessor the A320-CFE can transform from sidearm, to service weapon, to sniper rifle all in a span of minutes. Designed so the extraneous parts could be efficiently stored in as few pieces as possible, the Custom Field Edition allows Galactic Alliance personnel to operate without resupply for an extended period in a variety of scenarios.
  • Firing Selector: While this feature is unavailable in pistol configuration and limited in sniper mode, in its assault setting the A320-CFE can easily switch between multiple firing modes, allowing the bearer to adapt to various situations that he/she/it may be presented with. These modes include: Marksmen (Single Shot), Three-Round Burst, Semi-Automatic, and Fully-Automatic.
  • Power Setting: In keeping with the standard modern specifications of Blaster weaponry, the CFE boasts two versatile settings (Stun and Lethal) that can be altered by the bearer at any time.
Strengths
  • Powerful: Utilizing lessons learned from I'att Armament's blaster line for the Alliance Navy and Marine Corps, the technicians at BlasTech were able to apply the same tightly coiled idea to their newest generation of rifles. To this end, it makes the blaster marginally stronger than the standard in its rifle setting, as well as giving the pistol configuration a little more stopping power, but sacrifices a significant portion of a typical power cell/ plasma cartridge to compensate for the heavy draw.
  • Versatile: With three different main configurations that effectively turn the Custom Field Edition into three weapons in one, the A320-CFE is useful across an extreme range of combat scenarios. Not only does its modularity make it prized among special forces and intelligence operatives for its flexibility, but also for its potential for customization.
Weaknesses
  • No Additional Attachments: Not including the top rail of the rifle with a universal port for scopes or the optional compensator attachment that reduces blast volume at the expense of accuracy, both included components of the CFE, the reassembly process of the Custom Field Edition makes it impractical to include any space for side or underslung weapon attachments in either assault or sniper mode.
  • Prone to Jamming: Due to the unique series of limitation BlasTech faced in developing a new iteration to follow their legendary A280 line en masse, certain concessions had to be made architecturally to preserve the same look and feel of an older Blas models while also making enough space for all the new bells and whistles provided by I'att. For these reasons, the A320-CFE can be jam prone, easily enough fixable in the field but requiring troopers to waste precious seconds in a combat zone as they diagnose and address the problem.

Description: With the (more or less) successful reintroduction of their A280 line into the galaxy, it seemed practically inevitable that BlasTech would also release an updated take on their even more infamous Custom Field Edition of the same legendary rifle. Taking practically no time to disappoint, the A320-CFE was released from BlasTech Industries labs hot on the heels of the standard rifle. An innovative and not often replicated design, the Custom Field Edition is in a sense three guns in one.

Pistol Configuration: Utilizing the same additional galven coils and circuitry that allowed I'att to unlock the ancient secrets of the DL-44 with their HBC and HBS lines, for such a compact blaster pistol the Custom Field Edition surprisingly packs a real kick, the weapon's stopping power belying its size. With only a semiautomatic fire setting, the pistol configuration's limited range and accuracy make it more ideal for close quarters work or in situations when storage space is at a premium.

Assault Configuration: In this mode not too dissimilar a weapon to its cousin, the A320, the assault configuration provides the user with a compact, versatile rifle for medium to long range engagements. Lacking the modular bells and whistles that come with the A320 itself, the assault CFE nonetheless provides a fairly equivalent high powered rifle for Galactic Alliance personnel. Both the assault and sniper configuration, however, do retain a top universal rail that allows the weapon to switch out a variety of scopes, as well as a barrel compatible with an I'att volume compensator.

Sniper Configuration: More slender than the assault mode but with a slightly longer profile, the sniper configuration specializes in long to extreme range engagements. Adjustments to the stock and barrel during the reassembly process provide for a slightly more stable, precise shot than in assault mode. As with both rifle settings, attaching the volume compensator will reduce the volume of the CFE's shots, but at significant expense to its accuracy.

The Custom Field Edition's reassembly process is relatively quick and simple to understand and recall with enough drilling, but it would be impractical to attempt such a reconfiguration in the middle of the field. Too many steps can be taken improperly, and much of the process requires delicate, precise fingerwork, to the extent that reconfiguring under fire can be ineffective and even potentially dangerous.

We have had a lot of DC-17m variants pass through the factory and this one isn't really any different from the others, so I am gonna stamp it.

Neatly written out though, was interesting to read!
