Strengths:
[+] Mauler: Aided by the Subutai Tactical Analysis System, the Bercey becomes even more brutally effective in short range.

[+] Improved Power: With the Crystal Fused Engine installed, the Bercey experiences a higher speed and maneuverability rate than is typical of those in her class. Additionally, the engine lends itself to boost the weapons systems, namely her turbolasers. Turbolaser weapon systems will hit harder and faster than is typical for traditional turbolasers.

Weaknesses:
[-] Frozen: With the CFE-G1 installed, the Bercey does suffer from the engine’s permafrost problem involving its crystals and freezing the engine over completely. When the engine freezes over completely, emergency power does kick on but all other systems are offline until the engines are back, meaning weapons, shields and basic impulse power are gone.

[-] Can’t Stop: The Bercey was built with the Ajax armor and thus is prone to its same weaknesses and cannot sustain fire to the same places on her armor. Meaning she must always be on the move and always moving to avoid penetration to her hull and subsequent systems.

[-] Offline: When the Bercey is ‘offline’ meaning her engines have frozen over and have forced the ship offline, or the ship is docked for repairs. She becomes vulnerable to the problems present in the Subutai Tactical Analysis System and the Mithril Security Software; a degradation of processors aboard the Bercey and becomes vulnerable to zero-day attacks.

[-] Range: Maulers are extremely effective in close range, medium to long range however they are not and even with the analysis system aboard the Bercey. It does not do enough to compensate for the Mauler’s hardware meaning no matter the system software she will always be a short range fighter versus medium or long.

Description: The Bercey Weather Corvette was the first joint project between Primo Victorian Shipwright and Kiribian Systems Armory. Additionally it was the first time that Primo Victorian Shipwright utilized parts from outside of traditional First Order production. The Mithril Security Software, the Maulers, Subutai Tactical Analysis and the Crystal Fused Engine were all carefully considered for this particular vessel.

A vessel that would need to be able to withstand some of the most extreme weather conditions that some of the First Order’s worlds could dish out. It would also need to be able to get up close and personal against other capital vessels aiding the Fortan-class vessel in harassing larger capital ships. With this in mind, the first generation of the Crystal Fused Engine was made to be the main component. The CFE-G1 acts much like a heat sink drawing heat away from the engine’s more critical zones and allowing for the ship to run cooler, and thusly more efficiently providing the Bercey with a higher speed and maneuverability rating.

In addition to a boost to speed, the CFE-G1 would provide an increased cutting power to the vessel’s turbolaser system or in this case to the Maulers. Meaning they hit harder than your average turbolasers, and in the case of the Maulers they are even more effective than previous with the CFE installed. Unfortunately given that the CFE is still in its first generation many of the bugs that are inherent in the engine are also present in the vessel itself...

The idea to add the Mithril Security Software and the Subutai Tactical Analysis System was drawn up after a review of the Mauler’s performance. It was the hope of Fleet Admiral Fiolette Yvarro that the Subutai would help the Bercey engage its opponents more effectively at standard, medium range unfortunately even with the advance software it could not overcome the limitations provided by the hardware. In simulations, it was found that the STAS enabled the Bercey’s weapons system to be more precise in her shots which proved valuable should the Bercey find itself in a state of emergency power as a more precise shot might enable the vessel to buy time while repairing itself. Given her nature as a science vessel, Fiolette decided to give the Mithril Security Software a test run against the typical software provided by FOCIE.

Her reasons were that she felt the Mithril Software was an upgrade in comparison to said typical software. The FIV Bercey’s maiden voyage will put to the test on whether or not the Fleet Admiral’s gamble to outsource would have paid off.

Bercey’s armor is unlike most standard First Order vessels, the Bercey’s armor comes from a deal conducted between Kirbian Systems Armory and Primo Victorian Shipwright, one of the state run shipwrights on behalf of the First Order. The Ajax armor would enable the Bercey to withstand said extreme weather conditions allowing it to conduct meteorological surveys, in depth oceanography studies and other detailed planetary development studies. Next from KSA came Casper, an anti-missile system that was needed to assist in keeping the Bercey intact, given the armor around the Bercey. The Casper just seemed to be the next logical system to install on the vessel.

Next came her Anti-Ion Emissions, the Anti-Tractor Beam Shroud and the addition of the Tractor Pressor. While standard tractor beams can be reversed in their polarity, it takes time and time may not be a luxury that First Order Navy men and women can afford thusly the Tractor Pressor was added to enable the vessel to repulse as well as tract. Given the somewhat fragile nature of the Bercey, the shroud seemed to be something easily agreed upon by both KSA and PVS. Then came the Anti-Ion Emissions, since the First Order is in a state of war Anti-Ion Emissions seems to be something of a standard with regard to some of the recent penetrations from the Alliance into First Order territory. Due to this, AIE on the Bercey enables her to conduct her missions with a little added security.

Finally, her weapons systems the Maulers. At the cost of traditional turbolasers and warhead launchers, the Maulers alone were installed aboard the Bercey. With the Fortan’s imminent refit at hand and the knowledge of her refit Fleet Admiral Fiolette Yvarro decided to focus all the Bercey’s efforts with the Maulers whilst the Fortan would keep her primary focus on the Baradium launchers. Together the idea would be that the Fortan and Bercey would work together to engage larger capital vessels, and keep them occupied when necessary.

Very interesting ship.

I'm a little confused by the defensive rating of low though? For a small ship it seems to be very well defended?
