Strengths:
- Carbonite Coating provides modest obscurity by most common sensors, though by no means acts the same as standard stealth systems.
- Molecular Shielding provides excellent protection from would-be raiders or hostile governments that may seek to
hurt the lovely librariansstop the GUIDE from operating in their systems. Energy-based weaponry which may strike the shields are absorbed and recycled by the defensive emplacements, keeping up the image of a purely defensive armament system. - The Isotope-5 reactor provides a wonderful boost to efficiency of the craft, allowing it to have some modest advantages in speed and maneuverability over other similarly sized crafts by directing a significant portion of energy draw to the ship's engines, granted primarily due to the near-absence of powerful weapons on the ship itself.
- There are only two light turbolasers to account for offensive weapons on the ship, meaning that when engaging similar-sized ships, or even smaller Frigates, the Beacon-class is at a large disadvantage in terms of offensive combat - the remainder of its armaments dedicated solely for protection.
- If someone were to sabotage the Isotope-5 reactor within the ship it could result in a chain reaction leading to the destruction of the ship and a large portion of space around it.
Description:
Designed first and foremost as a mobile headquarters for the GUIDE group, led by [member="Magdalena Lethe"] (whom will be referred to from now on as Magda, because that is a long name!), the Beacon-class Cruiser was named to symbolize the group being the beacon of knowledge for the future explorers and shipwrights of the galaxy. Being a Tetan, one who was well versed in her planet's culture, Lily respected the pilots and exploratory teams that led the expansive search through the unknown reaches of the galaxy that remained in obscurity even still - the very reason her own planet, and the former incarnation of Koros Spaceworks at that, was founded. As the vessel was intended for holding employees, researchers, archivists, and so on, the ship was designed with few weapons and the majority of which were defensive, only two small turbolasers that sat on either side of the front of the vessel being light turbolasers for clearing asteroid debris and theoretically dealing with smaller pirate crafts, although the defensive emplacements should provide ample defense from such raiders.
The ship itself is shielded by a molecular shield, which provides the defensive weapons a means to become empowered during the instance that other, generally smaller, ships were to try to assault the cruiser. A molecular shielding system works by absorbing the energy from energy-based weapons through the shield and recycling its power into the ship's own weapons, thus empowering the meager amount of armaments that are present on the ship currently. Powering the ship itself is an Isotope-5 reactor that has been placed into the ship with most of its resources dedicated to the propulsion of the ship and its maneuvering thrusts, granting it speed and maneuverability where it lacks offensive weapons. To prevent instances where pirates may try to seek out the ship while exploring through various unknown areas in space the Quadanium hull was coated in thick layers of carbonite, which was sourced from the mines of Keres II in the Empress Teta system, which causes some minor difficulties for average sensors to detect the ship until within a reasonably close region of space to the ship itself. (Up to the writers).
Within the interior of the ship are a number of laboratories dedicated to various things one might find on a new planet, or even an old one, such as labs designed around the research and categorization of minerals, or of plant life and other biological life. Several medical bays, most small, with a central, larger, medical bay were also included in the instance that injuries or other issues may need to be resolved. One-hundred and twenty residential rooms with twin bedrooms and half-baths each were also built in to fit up to two-hundred and forty residents of the ship at any given time, comfortably. A small recreational zone was also included for exercise and recreational purposes. For instances where the head-honcho, Magda, may need to address the number of employees that may be present on the ship at any given time, a large auditorium was constructed for lecturing and other similar purposes. For the lady, or girl I guess, a penthouse suite was organized to be constructed with a large master bed and master bath. Got to give the boss-lady cool things too!
