Baby Trick Me One More Time

The markets of both underground and street level Coruscant were usually quite busy, bustling with people left and right in search of basic needs, more selfish wants, and a place to spend their credits that wasn't devoted to getting intoxicated to a point of mental problems. In the mist of the bundle of buyers and shouting sellers, Rose Lalonde, behind a cheap brown rope connected to tiny posts in the area, was busy polishing a large piece of machinery, one of which was made of the cheapest forged material a person could find. With a small smirk on her lips, she slowly adjusted the machine gun's trigger, keeping it stuck with a small stick of foam for the sake of it accidentally firing.
Taking a break from the shining and cleaning of the weapon, she double checked her sign, making sure the price was still as expensive as she remembered. There had been set a claim at the bottom, that this weapon was the best for assault, and needed to be sold fast or better and richer people would take the last in stock. Of course, the weapon itself was just a hunk of metal and nothing more, though it certainly had an impressive carving and a little few daps of paint on it to make it look quite realistic. She smiled promisingly to the sign, then stood by the weapon again, calling out loud and proud to the streets.
"Come, find yourself in position of this lovely machine gun for only 12,000 credits! This is the last in stock, and as promised, the best around for planets for your self defense!"

Jalek had been on planet for briefing on his new assignment and was scheduled to depart from the planet shortly, but until then command had given him leave to wander around Coruscant. He looked out to the upper levels of Coruscant, the place was far too open and clean for a place like him. Jalek went to the shuttle that he had arrived on and made his way down to the lower levels of the planet, a place that was dirty and crawling with scum which he much preferred. He hopped out of the shuttle, the smell of the slums penetrating his nose with it's putrescence. He enjoyed the smell, it seemed to be a friendly greeting to him that said it was a place where he didn't need to be careful about everything he said.

Jalek pulled a cigar out of one of his jacket pockets, lighting it with the lighter in his thumb. He made his way into the busy streets of the city, shoving aside the pickpocket orphans and beggars all asking for money. As Jalek made his way down the street he passively looked at all the merchants peddling their equipment, plenty of illegal guns and modifications were sold down here but that was a problem for the local law enforcement. As he continued down the streets, Jalek decided to take a break and browse some of the wares that people were selling. He went towards a woman who was attempting to sell a rather expensive gun, but thanks to the Republic's wages he had more than enough. Jalek walked over to the woman and put the cigar out in the palm of his cybernetic hand. "12,000 is a lot of credits for a gun."

Rose's shouting soon got her a potential customer. With a wide smile, she walked over to the piece of worn browned rope that the man seemed to be speaking at, slowly popping a hip to rest her hand on, while the other went on one of the metal posts that connected the ropes in the first place. Her voice was confident and strong, as if she built the machine herself, with her own two hands. There was even the practiced tint of sorrow she managed to squeeze in, like a man who must sell his life long horse to save a loved member of their family.
"Why should it not be, I may ask? A machine of this quality material and expert craftsmanship only deserves to be a loyal price to support those who made it in the first place. This lovely machine is the best, and only that. Many buyers have came in left and right to get a glance at the machine, but I needed to turn the tables and give everyone one last chance to buy it before it was sold off to the people who bought the rest!"

"Well you sure do sound confident about that gun, care if I examine it?" Jalek didn't wait for a reply to his question. He picked up the gun and examined it, the gun at least looked operational and new on the surface and he could never have enough guns. He looked down the barrel of the gun to make sure that it wasn't corked or had a bomb in it like last time, the thing seemed practically new. "So, do you know who it was that manufactured this gun, or is it mass produced?" He said as examined the length of the gun and looked through the scope before placing in on the table plainly, eyeing smaller details of it before looking up to the woman who was selling it. The gun appeared real enough, he doubt that anyone in the undercity of Coruscant was competent enough to be able to make a gun that realistic so he didn't bother to examine the fuel cells and it's firing power.

The slightly aged woman opened her mouth to speak, then only gave a smile as the man put the valuable piece of nothing down. It truly was that, nothing. Just a fine hunk of metal with enough weight in the right places, molded and shined with hand-made greases to make it shine like new. "Yes, in fact I do have contacts with the engineer who constructed this beauty. Unfortunately they don't wish to discuss what goes on with their product for personal reasons." She gave a polite smile, slowly brushing away the places the man touched the metal, as if it were a baby who needed generous amounts of care to keep healthy. "My price will not change from the 12,000, though I do have to have you sign a contract if you wish to return it at a later time should it break under heavy damage."

Jalek noticed as the woman brushed off parts of the gun, 12,000 credits was a lot but he had plenty where that came from. "I won't need to sign that contract, if the gun breaks it'll be for a reason." He pulled a credit chip out from his back pocket and placed it on the table while simultaneously picking the gun up in his hand. "There you go, 12,000 not a credit less not a credit more." Jalek slung the gun over his back, he would examine it later for now he had probably get going before he missed his flight to his next mission. He shoved a nearby alien as he made his way out of the crowd, disappearing into the bustling crowd of the undercity.

Rose's eyes trailed after the man who took the hunk of metal and left without another word. She slowly picked up the chip, putting it under a visual scan quickly before pocketing it. This would be in handy when buying other things she wanted, have it credits, or should it not. With a small polite smile, she slowly gathered the ropes from the post, taking a last look at the man's back before storing the items in a small bag, and turning off to walk another way.
