DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The only real 'special' feature is the blade's hilt is designed very ergonomically (With the human hand in mind), wrapped in specially treated leather to provide a firm grip that limits shock when the blade makes contact with other physical objects. The design makes disarming the user moredifficult, due to the ease at which the weapon can be held.
Strengths:
  • Lengthy reach: The blade is fairly long, and can reach opponents within about a meter of the actual user's hands.
  • Entirely metal weapon: The fact that the weapon's cross guard, handle, and pommel are all solid metal, the entire weapon can be used as a.. well as a weapon. The pommel can be used for swift, disorienting strikes if used right, and the cross guard itself can be used akin to a pickaxe or knuckle weapon.
  • Half-swording: The weapon can be very nimbly used as a piercing tool by holding onto the blade with a gauntlet covered hand, and used much like a short range spear rather than a large cutting tool. This provides significantly useful piercing tool, with a convenient handle to push it through whatever it pierces.
  • Not a vibroblade: Since the weapon is sharp by design rather than maintained by a vibro-generator, the weapon does not lose sharpness when electrocuted or hit by an emp blast.
Weaknesses :
  • Lightning: Electrical attacks absorbed by the weapon go straight into the user's hands.. not the most pleasant experience.
  • Two handed: The weapon absolutely requires two hands to be used effectively, limiting options in combat.
  • Lightsabers: While able to stand up to physical objects, a lightsaber will rend the weapon in two.
  • Larger weapon: A perfectly valid tactic to combating this weapon, exclusively designed for two handed fighting, is simply to get closer to it. The weapon is only nimble if half-sworded, reducing its actual range significantly, and even then once one gets close they can take control of the fight.
  • Confined areas: Smaller areas can make drawing the weapon difficult, let alone actively wielding it.
  • Maintenence: Requires daily maintenence to maintain it's edge and prevent rust. After particularly violent encounters, the weapon also requires maintenence to ensure it isn't damaged before being sheathed.
DESCRIPTION
If one's armor was a symbol of status and wealth, the knight's sword was a symbol of their resolve and practicality. Nothing in the weapon is left to waste, no fancy gold inlaid runes or embedded jewels. A knight's sword is a mark of their vows, gifted to them upon their knighting. Aya Clarke's own sword was designed by her Father, and smithed by the same man who created her armor, in preparation for her own knighting ceremony. Made of several pieces of durasteel, the weapon is highly durable and capable of taking many, many clashes without chipping, provided the user is careful in their actions of course. Not only this, but the weapon holds significant importance to Aya Clarke personally.

As one of her gifts upon Knighting, it is the last vestiges of her family, and holds great personal significance. Surely the destruction of such a valuable memento would be devastating and painful. Not to mention that its usefulness as a piercing tool cannot be understated, in an age where armor is once again a huge concern. The techniques used when wielding this weapon are specially tailored to fight both unarmored and armored foes, using half-swording to aim piercing strikes at the enemy's armor weak points, or hammer strikes swinging the weapon like a pickaxe to force the cross guard into their body. It also utilizes the flat of the blade as a defensive tool, catching opponent's weapons and even letting them get caught by the cross guard to take control.

The philosophy of a knight is, after all, that their sword is their weapon and shield both.
