Rare Sources of Materials

  • Cortosis- Due to the planets absolute destruction, pieces of the shattered planet have been know to host large chunks of Cortosis. This is mainly from the core of the world crystallizing upon contact with empty space creating the energized properties that the material is originally known for. Few mining corps have dedicated their time to extracting the resource from the world of Avis. Thus, leaving several opportunities for rising competition over the planets vast sections of ore. Although many have sought out such opportunities; the cost of mining cortosis tends to be expensive. Even worse because the planet is splintered into different sections throughout space, it would be harder to located accurate readings on the rare ore itself, leading to even more expensive backing for such an expedition.

  • Former Major Locations:
Elderwood Village:

The Elderwood Village was located in the sprawling jungles of Avis. The trees of the jungle were massive and strong. With the help of magic and crafty influences of their culture, they soon made homes out of the thick stalks. Before long, the Elderwood village became a community of tiny hallowed out huts. This decision not only sheltered them from violent storms and beasts, but most importantly kept them hidden from outsiders. With coursing rivers close by, the Elderwood mages paved way to funnel the source of water throughout their village. The water provided for many and over time formed waterfalls that descended to the ground below. Since the formation of the waterfalls, most of the lower leveled villagers built higher in the canopy of their home. Vines and large roots provided walkways making it easier to access certain parts of the village. Most Elderwood people enjoyed carving designs into their huts, making them look more intricate and bearing symbols of the sacred tree they worshiped.

The Altar of Sacrifice:

Far north of the Elderwood Village was a place of sacred land. Located on the top of a hill, steps led to an altar. This particular altar was used for sacrificial rituals, that otherwise were considered questionable by some of their own people. Spires of vine covered rocks infested the area, providing cover from potential intruders during incantations. The heaping land mass on which it stood was filled with lush green grass. Some Elderwoods have told tales of echoes, haunting those that weren't permitted at the Altar of Sacrifice. While others, have gone so far to say that spirits lingered atop the hill, long before the cruel acts were ever performed. Only mages were allowed to execute the sacrifices or the deity they worshiped, would be displeased. The Altar itself was made of stone, garnered with heaps of carcasses and runes dressed along its edges.

Mages Circle:

The Elderwoods always valued their gifted. So much so, that a circle of magic was constructed for other applications in the force. Much like the Altar of Sacrifice, the Mages Circle was shrouded in large rocks and trees. While it was located closer to the Elderwood Village, many of the spells that were performed only happened in the dead of night. The mage's constructed the circle with wooden pieces, forming a symbol that represented the all seeing eye of their divine tree. Mages that drew on the power of the circle became tainted in the dark side and eventually, began to practice forbidden magic. Along with the creation, skulls of beasts and teeth were littered on the outskirts of the symbol. The bones were the Elderwood Mages way of contacting the dead, seeking advice for the future to correct their past.

The Temple of Chiefs:

Since the first of their kind ruled, chiefs were given respect. Even in death the Elderwood nobility were treated like Kings and Queens. After a long while, shrines dedicated to their dead weren't enough to honor the dead. Thus, The Temple of Chiefs was built. Using the only reserves of stone the Elderwood had, they built a temple for their dead; specifically their previous Chiefs. Built beneath their village, along the reservoir of water it sat; a monument to their deceased. The temple was perfectly constructed, so much so; that small wooden boats were crafted to reach the inner parts of the temple. Visitors were constantly welcome as a large circular opening greeted them. The Elderwood people would bring sentimental objects to share with their ancestors. Along the stone walls were lists, each a memoir to those that sacrificed themselves in the name of their deity. Over time vines grew throughout the stonework, allowing the previous chiefs who laid at rest to reconnect with nature.

The Rul'Gahsian Fortress:

With the rise of Rul'Gahsians, came one of the most incredible achievements on Avis; a massive fortress. The Rul'Gahsians were proud of their new life and with little time, formed an unbelievable structure that became their new home. With stone from their previous village they took what they could and moved. They recycled all the stone back into the fortress walls from their previous lackluster living style. Since the fort was built in the desert and close to the mountains they had a sight advantage. So the Rul'Ghasians made towers to spot any potential threats from a long distance. In the center of the fort, rested the Rul Gah Stone, floating high above their enormous structures. It served as an illuminating light, a beacon of hope for those that were on the hunt. Deep within the confines of the fortress walls, rested a living quarter for the chief. Along the inner tunnels of the architecture sat square homes, chiseled out from the mountain nearby. The fort had a north and south entrance. Later on, additions below the ground floor were made to form the Oracle Chamber. The most prominent feature were the bone crafted stakes that rested on the outskirts of their prideful home. The bone stakes served as a warning to wandering Elderwoods that may have come looking for a fight. The only other grandiose creation were their tall archways, all of them made by the laborers of the Rul'Gahsian tribe.

The Fighting Pit of Death:

Warriors.
It was normal for them to declare their strength in battle or even on a hunt. It was odd that Rul'Gahsian people were willing to kill one another, after all they were put through, but they did. In order to provide entertainment, Rul'Gahsians that challenged another to death, would do so, in the Pit of Death. No weapons were allowed, only the bare knuckles gifted from their creators. The Fighting Pit of Death was built deep into the south sector of their fortress, hidden away in the canyons of the Red Lands. This allowed their sacred bouts to be out of sight from children and most of all prying eyes that didn't belong. The ring was filled with sand and tiny pillars for additive obstacles. The fights; once declared, would be judged by the ruling chief and only close family members. Only other warriors that were victors could be ring side. All others who weren't immediate family, cheered on from the inner walls of the canyon. Stone tunnels were created for each challenger to enter from, once the victor was decided; the other was killed.

Oracle Chamber:

With the arrival of an unexpected Elderwood mage, Rul'Gah decided to make them the first ever oracle. With the gift of magic the Elderwood mage abandoned the ways of his previous counterparts and became a strong asset to the Rul'Gahsian people. Through the power of the force, the oracle was capable of seeing the future. In order to execute such powers, he had to bathe in the light of the Rul'Gah Stone. Due to this, heavy preparations needed to met. Tedious to build, below in the depths of the inner fortress foundation, a chamber was made. The practice of magic was allowed here, so long as it wasn't used for sacrifices or blood magic. The Oracle Chamber was built with four pillars and a circular platform in the middle. The platform was painted with various symbols located directly underneath the floating Rul'Gah Stone. Above a large hole was formed so that spells and incantations flowed into the air. Sometimes the spells latched themselves onto the Stone of Rul'Gah. This allowed the oracle to connect with the stone and see the events of the future.

The Immortal Rul'Gahsian Arch:
Original Credit: Book of Revelation, by Madink2000

After the flamewind cataclysm ruptured the planet of Avis into pieces, those that once lived on the planet, left behind remnants of the past. Even with their lesser knowledge of the galaxy the civilizations that built on the world of Avis, were magnificent constructors. A couple thousand years later, an archway attached to a large floating mass of rock, lingers in the center of the ravaged planet. Suspended in space with other rudimentary rocks that were once part of the world ages ago, the stone-made wonder is a testament of strength and most of all, the spirit of the Rul'Gahsian people. With unknown marks and engraved art on the archway, it truly is a sight into the past lives of those that were expunged from the world of Avis. Those that have seen the Archway are taken back by the sheer size of it. It's height is over one hundred feet and its thick wide legs are easily fifty feet around. The survey team that first came across it gave it a name; The Immortal Rul'Gahsian Arch.

Miner Base:

In its recent years of discovery a base for miners was established within the rubble that is Avis. Split and separated into large and small pieces of what once made the planet, an unknown corporation took advantage of the Igni'Ventus system, building a mining base inside a large part of Avis's shattered parts. This allowed many of the mining ships to go in and out of the base with their haul of ore or other cargo. While the base was sufficient for such things, it was lightly equipped with a cafeteria and few rooms. It was rare for anyone working within the system to stay in the base, unless absolutely necessary. In present day it's still operational, but most of the mining has slowed over the years. The hassle of a flamewind every six months tends to make the operations less profitable. Made by using the inside of a floating land mass, a mix of alloys were used to create the base. Hidden in the center of Avis, the miners are safe from pirates or other threatening attackers, until, they're found.

Flamewind of Lost Souls:

While it may not be a tangible location, if you have a ship and are willing to travel to the Igni'Ventus system; there is one thing that thousands if not more visit to see. A flamewind from the sun Ignus. The properties of the flamewind are constantly being monitored and while it could end up being a dangerous wave of radiation one day, it currently isn't. Thanks to such research, the flamewind sends out a wave of colors across the pitch black area of space in the Igni'Ventus system. During this spectacle, people have been known to see different colors form those next to them. Each of them feeling entirely different during the experience. Some others have heard screams and calls for help, leading to tales about the Rul'Gahsians and Elderwoods trying to reach out for help. There was a color indicator for when the magnificent phenomenon happened, they are as follows;

Red: The person that gets a chance to see this color, tends to be either heavily conflicted with a love interest or incredibly angry about something. They say a person who sees the crimson color of the flamewind is usually tense during the sight, leading to frustration and even testimonies of hearing vicious voices trying to lead them to the Astral Tree of God.

Blue: Those that are greeted with the color of blue, tend to have a refreshing calm wash over them. They are said to feel emotions of peace and at times sad. Many that see the color blue tend to cry. The color blue also comes with a soothing voice, usually leading people to find the Rul'Gah Stone.

Green: The color green makes spectators feel confident and ready to take on any challenges. They say with this particular color, instead of voices, mixtures of scents come to the senses. Many have stated that the smell of fresh grass and flowers magically embraced them. Most who see the color end up seeking for the next big adventure.

Purple: Those that find a violet spread among them are said to have feelings of doubt and insecurities of where they belong in the galaxy. Voices have been known to lead people in causing harm to themselves. While others have been known to whisper about their failures. Many that leave the system after experiencing this rare color are said to commit suicide or drink their sorrows away.

Orange: Orange, it represents warmth and completeness. Those that see this color have a sensation of pride and accomplishment spread through them. Spectators that are greeted with it are usually people that lead lives of importance and success. While no voices are said to be heard here, many have come forward with seeing an image of medals or trophies in the orange hue that lies across space.

Yellow: Bright and vibrant, the yellow hue is a mark of beginnings. Those that spot the yellow burst of color are said to be lifted lightly in the air, roughly a half of a meter. While hovering many are greeted with a feeling of happiness and joy. Smiles are painted on their lips during the entire spectacle. It is the most common display among them all, making the phenomenon sought out every cycle of Ignus' flamewind.

While the flamewind is quite the spatial occurrence, surveyors are still looking for answers about the experiences that many share with the event. Some think it's the people of Avis using their last bit of magic to call out to those in the galaxy, hoping to hear their story.

Force Nexus:

Astral Tree of God:

Shout out to [member="Tirdarius"] for helping out with the picture! :p

Size: Area, Small Dark Side Nexus.

Effect:

Some say the force is like the wind, you can't see it, but you can feel it. While in most cases this is true, rare occurrences in the force have made things that were otherwise impossible, possible. Although many who have recently discovered the planet and its unique state, its been known to show travelers, that get close enough, a vibrant glowing tree. The tree resonates with those on the dark side of the force, leading many to believe it is a small force nexus in the cluster of the torn world. The astral image was named after the history behind the faithful servants of a sacred tree that once lived on the planet of Avis. The name given to the phenomenon was Astral Tree of God. Those that approach the floating rock that the tree randomly appears on are presented with a pathway to its core. Many force sensitives that reached the light could feel the unrelenting power of the dark side, confirming the force nexus theories. Cries of those sacrificed to the tree must fuel the dark side of the force enough to conjure the Astral Tree of God. The small shard of rock that the tree lingers on is merely thirty feet wide, twenty feet long. As for the force nexus itself, which resembles the astral tree entirely, it encompasses a small area of roughly five feet wide, ten feet high. Only those who are lucky enough to see the image of the tree, realize how deceiving beauty truly can be. Those that bathe in the breathtaking light for too long will begin to diminish and eventually, die. Light side practitioners that get near the area will be driven delusional, sometimes second guessing their overall beliefs of what's right or wrong.

Intent: To provide a unique aspect of the force through imaginative ways. Also, to implement a reasoning for its creation and the countless sacrifices wallowing out in despair.

Force Nexus II:

Rul'Gah Stone:

Size: Area, Small Light Side Nexus

Effect:

The Rul'Gah Stone may have been fortunate to be hovering during the destruction of Avis. Still, there is no denying its force like properties. Allowing force sensitives to see the immediate future and showing signs of powerful energy. The light side surrounding the stone is said to be extremely pure. The stone, while on the opposite side of the Astral Tree of God, managed to find itself within the shards of land mass from the world of Avis. Located on the outskirts of the broken rim, the Rul'Gah Stone continues to float in the dead of space. Force sensitives that go near the magical stone feel the tendrils of peace. Those aligned in the dark side of the force that are exposed to the jewels energy are said to experience sudden disruption in their ability to use the force. If any user is bathing in the energy of the nexus for too long, they will loose all connections to the force and eventually die. The area that the Rul'Gah stone effects is fifty feet wide, forty feet long. The last property of the glossy stone, is a bright light outlining its edges.

Intent: To provide a reasoning for sudden loss of life during the civil war and cataclysm. Also, to implement a reasoning behind the things Rul'Gah felt from the stone.

  • Former Demographics: 60% Elderwoods, 40% Rul'Gahsian. While the Elderwood and Rul'Gah tribes were part of the same, at one time; they both seemed to be a species of Near-Human descent. While records remain undiscovered, many scientist believe the Elderwood tribe and Rul'Gah tribe are directly linked to Ysanna. Other researchers have debunked such beliefs, saying that they were a race unknown to the aged galaxy. While records of humans remained to be questioned, they found that many of them were used as slaves. There were no traces of either tribe depicting their actions towards other outsider sentient beings, although judging from the tablets, to most current date; it seemed they were extremely hostile.

  • Elderwood Tribes: The everyday life of an Elderwood meant to be one with the Tree of God. To do this, many of the Elderwood people communed with nature, studying and experimenting with various forms of flora. While most plants found on the Planet of Avis were dangerous; they provided a natural way to make medicinal ointments and teas. When it came to fauna, many of the animals were said to be passive and gentle; thus making them sacred and rightfully, by the decree of the Elderwood chief, forbidden to be killed. Although such things rang true for the kind beasts among their tribes, other nefarious and ferocious creatures were to be hunted. Hunting was a necessary activity to feed their people. Only those deemed unfit to be mages of the Elderwood and physically capable; were allowed to hunt. Another way to be closer to the Tree of God and most notably from the Elderwood tribe; was their ability to carve wood into breathtaking art.

  • Elderwood Society and Religion: Society for an Elderwood came down to your worth and most of all Magic. The Elderwood chief, leader of his/her people would only be appointed to chief if they had the gift of the force. While many did, only chosen few could become chieftain. With a society built around the worship of a magical tree, strict order had to be implemented. A chief would be fully in charge and as such had last say on mostly all decisions regarding the tribe. Societal status was important and if you were neither a mage or warrior within the Elderwood ranks, you were nothing. Since the ancestral years of the Elderwood, the Tree of God spoke to those gifted in the force. The tree demanded sacrifices in order to maintain their tribes link to the powers of magic. Applications of the force, in early days were for healing. Losing such a divine gift would be unfair. So the Elderwood chief decided to obey the command of the voices whispered to him; thus began the age of their religion. A religion based on the worship of the Tree of God. Sacrificial in their ways, they started with materials. Bones of the animals they hunted, carved wooden ornaments, and if found; the rare Black Lotus. While the Elderwoods proficiency in magic evolved, thanks to their sacrifices. The Elderwood mages began to delve into darker practices, Blood Magic.

  • Rul'Gahsian Tribes: Deemed unworthy to the Elderwood society, a warrior by the name of Rul'Gah escaped with those unworthy of the Elderwood practices. Before becoming sacrifices to the Tree of God, they went to start a new life in the barren desert, called Red Lands. The Red Lands were completely opposite of their previous home. Hot and snow top mountains providing them with new shelter. While only in the hundreds, Rul'Gah lead his people to a new life. A life of miners and stone. Being a Rul'Ghasian meant building a new world and to some; a way to stay alive in the wake of the Elderwood tribes practice of forbidden magic. Incapable of the force, Rul'Gahsian people became dependent on the land around them. Utilizing stone to make homes, tools, and weapons. Everyone regardless of ability or name was capable of becoming a chief of the Rul'Gahsian tribe. The only thing that was required to really become chief was a long journey to the frigid pilgrims. A unknown floating stone was Rul'Gah's gem, eventually building a massive fortress around it and becoming the Rul'Gahsian tribes final frontier. While their societal structure was much more free; the Rul'Gahsian tribe began to realize the value of order. Due to this, Rul'Gah made his own decree.
  • One: Never practice blood magic.
  • Two: Killing of another, in the tribe without openly challenging them to a death duel. Would be illegal and as such would be granted exile or if the killer preferred; tortured to death.
  • Three: No Rul'Gahsian was allowed to contact or keep in contact with the Elderwood Tribe.
  • Four: Children at the age of ten would be forced to train as a warriors.
  • Five: Touching the sacred light from the Rul'Gah stone was unforgivable and would seal the fate of the offender by being stoned to death.

  • Rul'Gahsian Religion, Sports, and Art: Since the first ruler of the Rul'Gahsian, Rul'Gah set his eyes on the stone of light, he named it after himself. While he didn't hear voices or whispers of the force he felt connected to it. Soon, he realized the faith his previous Elderwood counterparts had for the tree of god was now more apparent and began his own practice of faith. The stone would be worshiped, while many weren't forced to; they did anyway, bringing a spark of purpose to the people of Rul'Gah. While hunting remained a sport and a way of preventing the people of the tribe from starving other sports began to take form. A sport in many ways that resembles Stone Put slowly gained traction. With a plethora of many different types of stones within their grasp, Cobble Shoot was born. Along with Cobble Shoot, came a sport of strength. Being a warrior vested culture, the Rul'Gahsians were demanded to being strong, thus: birthing a new sport, Boulder Pull. Many tried their hands at the exhausting sport, but only the strongest prevailed. Art became more of a way to express their hurt by being exiled or unfit from their previous ancestors. Bones mixed with stones were crafted into masks, necklaces, sculpted statues and more. Another art came in the form of using stone tablets to design colorful paintings. The color came from flora found in the desert. Most paintings depicted the shimmering light of the Rul'Gah stone. Others, showed images of their own people and scenery around them.

  • Former Government: Theocratic Hierarchy
  • Current Government: None
  • Affiliation: No ties have been recorded with Jedi, Sith, The Republic or The Galactic Empire. This had brought many to think, Avis was never found, despite it's spatial anomalies.
  • Wealth: Low. Due to lack of contact with other outside worlds. The people of Avis were very primitive in regards to other known worlds. Credits weren't even a thought.
  • Stability: Medium. While many of the tribes on the planet were aggressive towards one another, there was a form of order. Outsiders were never welcome, thankfully only few Elderwoods managed to find a place in their societies as sacrifices. The planet of Avis had chief's who ruled over the tribes. Many of them allowed freedom among their own kind, provided your usefulness. Others were exiled or sacrificed for religious reasons. These actions caused other tribes to form. The newly formed tribes became more free than the oppressed version of their ancestors.
  • Freedom & Oppression: On the world of Avis, resided two Tribes. One called the Elderwood. Another by the name of Rul'Gahsians. While each were ruled by a chieftains, many of their own people were free to do anything. The Elderwood tribes were more strict and demanded many of their people to become followers of their faith. Others were forced to practice magic and few were bred into warriors for hunting. The Rul'Gahsians escaped from the demands of the Elderwood and formed a more free society, but after a while a decree was made in order to prevent atrocities within their ranks. While unusual to many outsiders it was illegal for an Elderwood tribe member to touch the Tree of God. The Elderwood tribe allowed the practice of blood magic, killing off newborns of their own people As a Rul'Gahsian it was illegal to touch the shimmering light of the Rul'Gah stone. The Rul'Gahsians also allowed duels to the death, provided for good reason. The victor would remain part of the tribe, while the loser; obviously would be killed.

  • Military: The indigenous people of Avis were very centered around their beliefs; thus making them sheltered to the outside world. The only military that would have existed would be through their own magical prowess and basic stone resources that are present, even today. Their tribal ways bred warriors, used for hunting. Compared to the current advancements of war in the present galaxy, Avis would be considered a feral world, stuck in the stone age of magic.

Prologue
Since the beginning of Avis's conception, the protons and neutrons that began to form natural gases, created Avis's atmosphere. Fated to be stripped down and eventually turning the world into fragments. Even though the natural order of things in any system could be disrupted, a nearby sun began to exude a flamewind. The radiation from the very birth of its existence began to tear down the walls of Avis's atmosphere. In time the planet would suffer, but not before life was born.
Life, like everything else had a process and in the early years of Avis's temperate climate, only creatures and birds took form. A few hundred years later the first near-human sentient was born. Without the birth of a sentient being, Avis wouldn't have a history. Regardless of what these people went on to build, they couldn't stop the ongoing threat that would eventually erase them from the board. Still, they were born and they called themselves...
The Elderwoods.
I
The First Chief, Valen.
The Elderwood people were birthed into the world, with them came gifted individuals. These particular gifted children were known as mages. While the rest of the galaxy at the time may or may not have been taught the ideals of the force, its exactly what fueled the children's ability to utilize magic. The adults, astonished by the upsurge of such odd events, made it a strict rule to find out ways to harness the power of the magic, in order to protect their people. In the first years of such a discovery, many children with such gifts were self taught. Being the first generation of anything was a hard thing to fathom. Although, in the end it garnered success and as they grew older, results became apparent. At this juncture of time, the Elderwoods hadn't quite named themselves anything and the basic language that formed was a broken version of galactic standard. Since they were nomadic for the first few generations of their life cycle, they set out with their first successful batch of mages.
The journey, brought them from the cold frigid tops of the mountains to a lush green jungle. The people were ecstatic, better yet, wanted to create a life within the dense jungle. Animals were abundant, along with sources of water that could help provide and sustain life. Soon after they began to scrounge up resources and build. Starting with the most basic of ideas, huts made from wooden sticks and cloth like leaves tied together became their homes. Food was also a demand and without risking the lives of their most promising mages, they looked to physically strong and capable hunters. This began an age long tradition soon to come. With food and water taken care of, the mages had an interesting idea. To cast a spell to protect them from the hidden dangers in the night. Without any guidance they thought of folktales from their ancestors before them, describing specific flora to cure and protect their people. Collecting what they needed they built a large campfire and performed the incantations. Due to such activity, something awoke. A force so unnatural and unusual that the mages were interrupted by a booming voice breaking their focus. The leader of the mages was a young man, capable of healing magic. His name was Valen.
Valen heard the voice, its thick and dark vocals tearing at his mind. The other mages could feel the the presence of the voice, but nothing like that of Valen. He was chosen, and soon it would set their people on a pathway to forbidden magic and destruction. The voice dissipated after a while and in time, Valen became the first of many chiefs. Capable of healing his people their community began to flourish, but what loomed in the nearby future couldn't be stopped.
II
The Tree of God
Valen, with the words of another great force telepathically reaching him, abandoned his duties and set out to look for the source. A sudden obsession almost taking hold of him before he found a open pathway to a large open area surrounded by thick and large trees. In the center stood a magnificent one, almost perfect in its stillness. Its slender trunk and short height made it unique compared to the taller ones around him. As Valen approached he felt a moment of hesitation, until the voice whispered to him once more.
"Closer...and the wisdom you seek will set you free."
Valen waited to respond examining the center tree before him.Was it the tree that was talking to him or something more? It wasn't the concept that scared Valen, but the uneasy feeling of dread that fell over him as he got closer to the trunk of the vibrant tree. Unsure of what to do, he wanted the voice to stop. So obliging to the voice he reached the base of the tree and smiled. A sweet smell of berries lifting to the air. Just as he went to savor the sweet and citrus smell, his knees trembled and he began to shake. Thousands of people stabbed and tortured filled his mind. A sudden shock rendering him paralyzed as he watched the cruel acts unfold before him. The more it played out, the more he realized he was the one gutting and using the blood of the people in front of him. It showed him writing things in blood and soon, the images vanished as he fell to his knees. Tears filled his eyes as he looked up to the beautiful tree, almost as if a god embodied it through nature. A single trembling word escaped his mouth.
"Wh...Why?" Valen's voice cracked, before he lowered his voice and lifted his hand towards the trunk. "What do you want from me?" He paused, the bark on the tree pressing against his hand."Please..."
There was no answer as Valen curled up next to it and waited, he shivered at the thought of killing others. He only wanted to help people, treat his people with injuries and diseases. Maybe such gifts were no longer free? Maybe. just maybe, Valen considered he was in the presence of a god. With little signs provided to him, the night fell upon him. The shimmering bright light that continued to shine atop the the leaves of the centerfold tree astonished him. He felt the surge of nature around him and before he turned to tell his people. The tree answered.
"Tribute..." The voice was sinister and venomous. "I demand tribute..." With those words the voice fell dead. Valen couldn't believe it, the tree was truly a force of nature, in the most pure sense. Although the voice was entirely different than what he had heard during his incantation, he couldn't ignore the demands. Leaving the sacred tree behind, he arrived back at the tiny huts his people made. The sprawling visage of the everlasting green capturing him. He told his people the story and the demand of the tree. Valen was chief, so his people listened. Some had their doubts, but as they grew in number they slowly formed a societal structure and the structure meant Valen's word was law. Those that heeded the words of Valen, began to visit the tree. They would bring bones of beasts who were recently killed and placed them at the base of the tree. They were tributes to the tree. For years this became tradition and what once was just a story, became a religion.
As the years went on, Valen grew old and the ways of their religion birthed them a name, The Elderwoods. With his guidance he brought absolute prosperity. Through the years the mage line became the main focus of their people, making those that were born with no gifts in the force either hunters or useless in the eyes of those in power. While one chief was usually the true ruler, Valen appointed high mages in order to stand in for him when he went to speak with the Tree of God. The more tributes that were presented in front of the divine, became unsatisfying after a long while and soon it hungered for more. Without it's thirst being quenched, the dark tree became malevolent. It ushered to Valen that without blood being spilled, it would strip away the powers of healing from their mages. Stunned by the displeasure of the tree, he was frightened about losing the ability to heal his people. Without a second thought and looking to what his people had built, thanks to the mercy of the tree, he made the deal. in order to accept the demand from the tree, he slit his hand open and smeared it on the trunk of the tree. The Elderwoods forever lost to a world of darkness on one bad judgement. In order to spill the blood the Tree of God asked for, further tributes would be needed, tributes of sacrifice.
III
The sacrifice, Rul'Gah, and the exiles.
The Elderwoods were built upon the foundation that the Tree of God was a merciful god, until now. The stale tributes that they attempted were no longer acceptable. The Elderwood people felt betrayed, but those heavily into the faith, knew what had to be done. The mages that followed the tree's wisdom were already brainwashed, thus; creating divide within their tribe. Those that followed the views of the Elderwood philosophy did so in other ways. Developing a booming culture of wood crafts and interesting clothing options. Accessories were made from bark, animal bones and teeth. The people eventually found fur capable of warmth, utilizing animal fur to keep newborns and others warm during the winter months. The magic that was practiced over the years became more powerful as the village was magically formed to their living style. Wood huts were no more, instead, in order to be closer to nature; the Elderwood people built homes inside the thick trunks of the trees around them. The mages formed cracks and crevices to bridge between either side of their village. Lastly, with hard laborers and a few spells to speed the process along, a northern river ran through their village. They truly were prosperous. Although life was set, a new practice had to be performed. In order to do so, the people of the Elderwood tribe had to be left out, leaving the new practice of sacrifice to the mages.
The process demanded a heavy concentration in what the galaxy now calls sith alchemy and sith magic. Even, though it felt morally wrong, in order to hold onto their powers and protect their people, the mages began to dabble in the ways of blood magic. Citing spells from the guidance of Valen. The first of many sacrifices was announced to the people and while many agreed, others who weren't seen as useful to the cause became more distant. A hunter, by the name of Rul'Gah was furious about the change. To the point he confronted the chief Valen, with little influence the high mages kicked him out. Forcing him to either deal with the sacrifice or be exiled. Those that had no gift or value to offer the Elderwood tribe would be considered for sacrifice. This made Rul'Gah even more worried about the bulk of his people and when the ritual was performed, he no longer wanted any part of the Elderwood ways. It was murder and worst of all they worshiped a false god. No god in Rul'Gah's eyes would demand to kill their own followers. Tainted by the dark side, Valen allowed the ritual to happen, wicked screams echoing in the everlasting night, the first pool of blood spilled for the betterment of their tribe.
If such things were to become a common occurrence, Valen order his workers to build an Altar of Sacrifice. The altar would serve for all blood magic and sacrifices to the evil god.
Ignoring the words of his brethren, Rul'Gah marched to the center of the village screaming for his people to wake up. To see the evil that tainted the soul of their current ruler. Some agrees with his views and after amassing a large lot of those that were seen unfit for the Elderwood way, they left, becomign the first ever exiles within the Elderwood lineage. The exiles could no longer stay within the confines of the jungles, it would mean being hunted by their own brothers or sisters. Instead, Rul'Gah had seen much of the world on Avis. Even the deserts supplied enough life for them to survive. So the went, reaching the Red Lands. The dry and arid air was hard to get used to at first, but within his company were many hunters. They were a stronger, physical group than that of the magically inclined. They were no longer blind followers of a false god and instead would create a life for themselves. Led by Rul'Gah, they managed to settle in the far reaches of the northern Red Lands. Equipped with the wooden tools of their previous homes they began. Rul'Gah felt betrayed by the living energy of nature and instead found something that represented their strength...stone.
With stone, they built tiny stone houses in the center of a barren desert, closely located to the south of the mountainous reaches. This allowed them to flourish geographically, being able to reach the outskirts of the jungles and also using rare specimens of plants, strictly grown in the areas of the desert. Much like that of the Elderwood nature, they transformed the flora around them into medicinal uses, sometimes being even stronger than the practices of the Elderwood mages. With stone homes and a slice of a new life Rul'Gah felt accomplished. Still, Rul'Gah wanted more for his people and so the age of the RulGahsians began.
IV
The Rul'Gahsains and The Rul'Gah Stone
In a short time Rul'Gah ruled with an iron fist. He forced his people to worker harder than the counterparts of their ancestors. This brought them advancement and soon stone began to become part of them. Their culture began to take form as the followers of Rul'Gah started to make stone statues. Some even began to make stone necklaces and tools to make better forms of art through the stone. Rul'Gah was pleased with the progress but he set out to give them more. So, when he felt it was fine to leave, he marched to the snow top peaks searching for other opportunities. When he reached the top of the northern most peak, he camped for half of an entire year, learning about the mountains and the dangers presented within them. The first three months were hard, the next three became more interesting as Rul'Gah spotted an abnormal occurrence closer to the base of the barren desert floor. With his knowledge and his belongings, he descended down the mountain till he reached a glassy, floating stone. It hovered perfectly in the shape of a diamond. The energy that washed over him felt peaceful and pure.
For the next three months Rul'Gah stationed a camp below it. Curious whether or not the magical stone would talk to him, much like that of the Elderwood mages. After a month of talking to the stone about the grievances of his people, he had an idea. He would retrieve his people from the desert lands and build beneath the magical stone. Rul'Gah felt connected to the stone, soon he went as far as praying to it. Asking the magical gem to grant his people success. He knew his people were free from the cruelty of the Elderwood tribes, but his absence created disorder.
After the last two months of praying to the floating stone, Rul'Gah went back to his people and spoke of the mystical object. He told everyone that for the betterment of them all, building on the cusp of the mountain base and below the magical diamond would provide them with streams of water and more resources to build what he envisioned, a fortress.
V
The Tainted Elderwoods
With the completion of the fortress, the people rejoiced. Chanting the name that was carried on through their lineage for the rest of time, they would forever be known as Rul'Gahsians. Named after thier strong leader the years that passed showed improvement to the laws that bound them. A decree became a way of life for the Rul'Gahsians and with them came stability. Sports began to take form in the art of hunting. Later on, new inventive sports became entertainment for them. One of the sports required strength to pull large boulders, given the name Boulder Pull. Another, focused on tossing heavy cobble stones a great distance, thus; giving it the name Cobble Shoot. With a mighty fortress built from their previous homes and the Stone of Rul'Gah hovering overhead, the Rul'Gahsians prospered.
In the wake of their success the Elderwoods still lingered in the dark. Over the long period of time, they still allowed practices of dark magic. The altar of sacrifice became tainted with haunted souls as more and more rituals sent their own people to their deaths. Blood had been spilled for the Tree of God, allowing the mages to flourish. Among them was a young male mage by the name of Jasper. The young mage refused to practice the dark teachings of his elders and escaped to the red lands seeking help from the great leader that the Elderwood people started hearing about. This wasn't the only thing that bothered Jasper. Instead of hearing the voice of the sacred tree. Jasper had been hearing a different voice, a voice that enticed him to seek it out, much like that of Valen. With little time to prepare, Jasper went to cast a spell that allowed him to conceal his escape.
Jasper was successful, vanishing from the Elderwood village hoping to find a new life with the exiles. With the loss of Jasper a new high mage had to be elected but as Valen fell ill, it was postponed. In the days after, Valen had passed away, the first chief forever living on through nature. Instead of a new high mage, they needed a new ruler. The only requirement were those powerful in the arts of magic. This fell to the mage's circle to decide through a rigorous ritual. Those that would survive the spell, would than be chosen through a duel of magic. The only victor becoming the new chief. After was all said and done a new chief was born.
Chief Baram, a mage that also heard the words of the Tree of God took his place as ruler. The tainted heart of his own meant more death and sacrificial endeavors that were far more cruel than that of Valen. New born babies that were not gifted in the force would be put to death, to please the tree. Not all newly birthed Elderwoods without the gift would be gutted and used to please their god, they still needed to breed hunters. Baram made it so that every other born without the gifts of magic would be definitively sacrificed. This fueled the dark side in him and shortly after he began to focus on a forbidden form of applications through the force. Creating soldiers, to take down the Rul'Gahsians. Word had gotten to him, tales of Rul'Gah's success potentially threatening their way of life. Striving to lead his people to the footnotes of the previous ruler, he began to twist life into abominations. Every failure, brough Baram closer to his goal. A new age began, an age of darkness.
VI
Jasper the Oracle
The young mage Jasper reached the stone walls of the Rul'Gahsian people. The voices he had been hearing grew louder, taunting him to enter the tall archways. Jasper much like that of his ancestor Valen, obeyed as he entered the magnificent citadel. Waiting for the Rul'Gahsian people to greet him. Instead, the Rul'Gahsian guards prevented him from reaching the center of the fort, waiting for Rul'Gah to address the lonely mage. It was forbidden to maintain contact with the Elderwoods, but having one present in his own kingdom, made Rul'Gah curious. Jasper spoke out towards Rul'Gah, trying to get him to understand his predicament. Rul'Gah at first refused the words of the young mage. Jasper pleaded once more, sepaking of voices spoken to him from the benevolent gem. Rul'gah was displeased about such a statement and ignored him. Until Jasper spoke of using the gem to see the future.
Jasper saw images of the near future all the time and with a curious brow, Rul'Gah allowed him access to his kingdom of stone. He would be tested and if what the young mage said was true, Rul'Gah would forgive him and allow him to live among his people. The words of Jasper were indeed true. After a simple spell the mage latched onto the hovering stone with a stream of magic. The voice spoke to him.
"Finally, Jasper." The voice was angelic and resembled that of a female. "I'm glad you came, you're people need you Jasper. Show them. Show them, what I show you." Jasper wasn't sure exactly how to show them until all four sides of the hovering gem painted images above. Rul'Gah was in awe. The Rul'Gah Stone played out different events on each side of it, until the connection was severed and a last whisper left Jasper in suspense.
"You can't stop it."
Jasper had proved himself and with the images that played through the gem to show the Rul'Gahsians future, war was on the horizon. Warriors verse mages. Rul'Gah knew it would be hard to win a war without the help of magic. Rul'Gah gave Jasper the title of Oracle. In a short time a chamber for his magical practices was built. It was constructed beneath the foundation of the fortress. The chamber had a hole above it, the Rul'Gah Stone hovering directly overhead. This allowed the Oracle to see the future through the power of the magical stone. Jasper became a valuable asset to Rul'Gah, advising him on certain things that needed to be done. Still, Jasper remembered the words of the divine jewel above his new home.
It wasn't the war that they should fear, but the world they depended on.
VII
A Torn World
With the advancements of the Baram's rule. The Elderwoods were ready for war, the Tree of God slyly sitting by as the Elderwoods a massed an army of mages and sithspawn. With the warning signs given to them by the Rul'Gah stone, the Rul'Gahsians were also prepared. Of course, in the end neither would win. The Elderwoods stormed the fortress as brother and sister clashed in a ferocious bout. Spell after spell felled the Rul'Gahsian people. Stake after stake claiming the lives of the Elderwood people. The stone walls painted red from the blood of a civil distaste for each other. Only one faith could prevail. Rul'Gah charged the battlefield signalling out the leader Baram. The two fought underneath the sacred stone above. The ignorance of the Elderwood teachings refused to acknowledge the gem as a divine object. Instead, Baram accepted the Tree of God into his heart. The Elderwood chief was a pure incarnation of the dark side, his anger and aggression unmatched as he struck Rul'Gah with his magic.
In the midst of the battle another vision began to transpire atop the gem above. The blood and fury that occurred below the glassy gem slowly began to settle. The world of Avis being torn apart from the futuristic outcome that played on all sides of the Rul'Gah Stone. Those that looked up to the jewel knew that it was over, morale on each side faltering as they quickly dropped their weapons and ran to find their loved ones. In one fell swoop, Rul'Gah screamed cutting down the chief Baram. His war cry echoed through the fortress of his people. As he glanced at the display above, tears filled his eyes. The embrace of a white filled the area. The last image of the stone imprinted in his mind before the ground beneath them all began to splinter. In a silent motion, a wave of destruction ruptured from within the world. Avis began to rip apart; just like the people at war on its surface.
As the people of Avis vanished from the galaxy, a shattered planet was left...

A New Discovery
The ship plunged deep into the unknown sector. The blinking words Igni'Ventus appearing on the pilots screen. Undiscovered by all calculations, a sudden stretch of bright colors rendered the ships navigation computer inoperable. A phenomenon that happens once every six months from the sun of Ignus. A flamewind, bursting with colors. The pilot manually took hold, large pieces of what seemed like asteroids making it difficult to navigate.
The pilot spotted the shattered world a few hundred kilometers out. Held loosely together by nothing short of a miracle, he patched over to the survey unit.
"Professor....I think I found something, incredible."
"What is it?"
"Jane, I think its a exploded planet..."
"Are you serious? Or is this another one of those far fetched jokes you like to pull."
"I'm not kidding, Jane...look."
Patching the evidence over to her, a new discovery was found.
That discovery was Avis, The Shattered Planet.
After scanning the broken world for any signs of life, the survey unit began to research the occurrence that created such a devastating end. With high readings of rare ores and normal rock that could be utilized for mining, In time a Mining base would be built. Before such things could be administered, the survey team had to make sure exposure to the flamewind wouldn't be detrimental to those in the floating land masses of the planet. Several researchers began to study the destruction of Avis and after five long years, they deemed it safe to outsiders interested in the system. Since the discovery of Avis, one mining corporation has taken advantage of the shattered world. Researchers today are still studying the radiation levels that the sun Ignus still exudes. Along with the planet Avis, resides four other planets that are constantly being monitored. The Igni'Ventus system was finally on the map and those that wanted to become rich off the resources of the unique planet Avis, would kill for the opportunity.

An outstanding, though long, read. Great work. Two Force nexuses but both are fairly small and account for both the lightside and the darkside. Lots of work done here. Approved on my end.

Pending secondary approval.
