Intent: To re-package a shattergun in order to provide it for the soldiers in Iron Company and Protectorate without writing off a check to Verpine manufacturers.
Development Thread: If required
Manufacturer: Abregado-Rae Guild of Hammers
Model: High Velocity Kinetic Firearm- Semiautomatic Pistol-1
Affiliation: Barony of Abregado-Rae, partially Omega Protectorate (see Production)
Modularity: The railing on the spine of the gun allows for addition of custom scopes, the weapon system can house additional custom system under the barrel, most often it is a flashlight or a laser targeting unit.
Production: Minor production (Enough to supply the Iron Company and Militia of Abregado-Rae, any additional production would require a development thread with backing from another manufacturing company, i.e. Omega Corps buying off the design to manufacture the weapon for Protectorate forces)
Material: Durasteel, Bronzium for aesthetic purposes
Description: The Gados scientists had the most trouble dealing with creating a design for a pistol out of the retro-engineered shattergun systems they were able to utilize. It was not because it was more difficult, it was simply because they didn't wanted it to look like they just copied the designs without improving on them. With the Shatter-Rifles, they were rarely seen about the Galaxy and just making enough to distribute to their troops was enough of an improvement, but with Shatter-Pistols, a sight of a weapon like that was common to their troops, due to their Commander's employment of the weapon all the time, and they truly did wanted to impress them. It is best to start off your company without disappointments, after all.

So, what the Gados did was fairly enough simple. They increased the size of the power cell the weapon was utilizing in order to house additional systems and more magnetic accelerators along the prolonged barrel to get a bicker kick out of the pistol. As a result, they were able to improve on the original design's effective range by 15 meters, not that much in grand scheme of things but it counts! In return, their design was 5 cm longer, .5 kg heavier, and slightly more bulkier than the sleek Verpine shatter pistols, but at the end of the day, the Gados were satisfied with their work.

The larger power cell is able to maintain the magnetic accelerators, a miniature repulsorlift system, sound dampening systems incorporated into the barrel, and still has enough power to support a computerized scope for the pistol, and additional system under the barrel. Most often it was a flashlight or a laser targeting unit in order to help with the weapon's targeting in the heat of battle.

Much like the original Shatter Pistol design, the SP-1 are able to achieve penetration against most personal armor models (excluding phrik and beskar armor) and even light-vehicle armor while utilizing its miniaturized repulsorlift systems to deal with the recoil, creating a weapon very easy to handle even in the hands of an unskilled soldier, and dampening out the sonic boom of the bullet breaking the sound barrier inside the barrel with its sound dampener systems, making the weapon fire its projectiles silently.

The main drawback of the pistol is the low firing rate it has to deal with as a semi-automatic weapon, it can fire only as fast as the user can pull its trigger. However, this should be still faster than in the case of SR-1, as the rifle version of the weapon has much more recoil, which forces the user to take aim after each shot, SP-1 lacks as much of a kick, allowing the user to simply keep his aim on the target and pull the trigger. Still, the weapon cannot fire in burst or fully automatic setting, only one bullet at a time.

In the end, the SP-1 is a smaller version of the SR-1, much better suited for engagements in close quarters, as it has greater capability for mobility and less recoil, although it is still a weapon recommended for medium-distance engagements due to its lack of rate of fire when compared to such weapons as submachine guns or blaster light repeaters.
