Major Locations: Though there are mining outposts and scientific stations throughout the area, the entire citizeny is located around the Habitation, where all the miners live. They are escorted to work everyday by transports. Habitation is where the government seat is, that government being a small group of directors who plot exports and imports depending on requests.
Culture: The culture of Aranla, although new, is quite sophisticated. It has a somewhat secular religion, called "Habitationism" (ironically named after it's main residential complex). This religion (and system of government), was developed by noted Coruscanti radical Iginla Sorel, and heavily emphasized the need for cooperation and a rejection of individualistic thought. He taught that by pooling one's skills with other people's skills and doing so based on a moral desire to help others would not only make one happy, but would lead to moral solace and to a general Utopian way of living. Aranlan culture, although a medley of many different cultures brought by all the races there, be they Iridonian or Twi'lek, seem to somehow revolve around it.
Technology: Though it has a highly advanced mining technology that is state-of-the-art, most of it's military and civil technology is lagging behind. It's military uses the same guerilla tactics employed by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil war, and is armed with similar weapons (though this was not true when Marten Sorel was on the planet; he is noted for having come up with hundreds of different tactics, most notably his baiting strategy that defeated the Brigands).

Aranlans were known specifically for their hardy existence and minimalistic lifestyle. This extended to everything, ranging from their social interactions to the food they ate. Noted was the fact that while talking, the people would omit determinants and sound somewhat like this ("Put food in fridge"). This was the source of much laughter among civilized people in the Mid Rim and Coreworld, as it sounded archaic and barbaric. However, it was noted that this minimalistic way of talking and the general specificness of the Aranlan lexicon made cryptography on their communications exceedingly difficult. This was evidenced by the Brigands total inability to make a clear encryption and believing a shield ("A holder", or more specifically, a safety holder to the settlers) was identical to a holding pen to study biology. This amusing communications. blunder led to the total victory of the ADF over the Brigands

The Aranlans often used small, rapid-fire sentences to speak. An average conversation could sound somewhat like this.

"Ho you. Goes dee good?" (Hey there! How's it going?)
"Well tanks. You?" (Well thanks, you?)
"Kam back quick from holder. Worked on circuits quickly" (I just came back early from the shield generator. I worked on the power circuits all day and finished by workload quite early)
"Good" (needs no translation :))

Though it's noted as it may seem to be somewhat backwards and rudimentary, all the settlers could speak proper Galactic Basic. A fascinating quirk of biology was that due to their heavy emphasis on minimalistic speech and reducing their speech to being able to speak very quickly, the average Aranlan was far more intelligent than the common human on any other colonized planet.

The food that was eaten day after day on Aranla Prime was often very simple and very rudimentary. The cooks in the main kitchens on Habitation worked very hard to maintain minimal food to maximum nutritional need. As a result, an entire branch of mathematical chemistry was created here, called "nutritional dynamics", or as the locals called it "foodemath".

Entertainment was virtually non-existent given the heavy demand for labor and long hours doing so. However, annually was held a tracking competition to see who could hunt and scout the best. Marten Sorel, noted Jedi and Republic military officer, won this twice in his youth.

History:

Aranla Prime is the first and only terrestrial planet of the Aranla system. A planet hostile to life, given it's nigh-non-existent atmosphere, it is largely prized for it's huge amounts of ore. After being discovered approximately 20 years ago, it became a haven for the Aranla Collective, a collective set up by noted Coruscanti communistic economist Iginla Sorel, the father to PC Marten Sorel. Every citizen owns a share, and profits are used to purchase amenities, which are redistributed depending on need and merit. This in itself encourages miners to give their utmost.

The planet itself is a young planet, being barely a billion years in age. A large period of volcanic activity gave it it's rich supply of ores, However, given the current climate cycle, the planet is completely covered in tundra and ice, with large mountain ranges covering icy permafrosts.

Though settlers only arrived when PC Marten Sorel was born, several major historical events occurred. The first was a breakthrough in durasteel mining technology known as splitting. Though dangerous, it involved blasting large quantities of plasma into the earth, consuming every mineral. The slag was then slurped up by a specially constructed transport, and brought back to the industrial facilities. This in itself reduced the need for manpower and resources to melt and split the durasteel, as well as allow a significant drop in production cost. However, the creator of this process, a research chemist who's name has been deliberately lost to history, blew himself and an entire wing of Habitation down, killing himself and Marten Sorel's parents.

Having become quite prosperous, Aranla Prime came under attack by an interstellar pirate gang known to the Collective as the "Brigands". During a short and quite eventful land campaign marked by tactical blunder after tactical blunder from the Brigands, Marten Sorel, a noted citizen of the planet and Squad Sergeant of it's armed forces, managed to destroy an entire armored column using explosives. He was awarded the first "Hero of Aranla" cross and received a corvette as a gift from it's citizens.

The Aranlan invasion, albeit a very minor war, began when the "Brigands", an unknown and insignificant mercenary group, sent an entire army of 400 infantrymen, 12 tanks and 2 Artillery batteries to the area. Landing in the mountainous region north of Habitation, the army marched directly on Habitation. This was a massive tactical blunder, the first of many on their side. Squad Two, a team of commando engineers under the command of Marten Sorel, clad in white camouflage outfits and armed with large anti-tank missile launchers and land mines, performed an incredible feat. As the line approaches the city, Sorel ordered a fire team to place a large line of camouflaged mines. As the tank in line hit it, it exploded on site, killing it's infantry escort. The column had to stop and get of the road, into the snow where they couldn't maneuver. Being pathetic easy targets, the squad opened fire on the tanks, destroying 9 others and in the process, decimating 52 infantrymen. As the line began in confusion, a second tactical blunder was made. Instead of regrouping and launching an air assault on the city, they went on the side road leading to what was believed to be a biology science station and attempted to take it. What they didn't know was that an entire platoon of infantry men awaited them. Ordering an artillery bombardment of the area, the Brigandine commander did not realize that it wasn't a biology station; it was the station which allowed the colony to deploy it's shield. Having not installed a shield previous, it installed a smaller one around it to act as testing. The artillery batteries helplessly attempted to hit it as Marten Sorel's commando engineers bombed them. The infantry were left helplessly stuck in the snow as now the entire ADF was pelting them with plasma fire. The Brigands, after losing their entire artillery, 10 tanks and 326 infantrymen, surrendered, as their dropship had been destroyed along with their artillery. The remaining 74 infantrymen were taking prisoner and used to barter a peace agreement with the organization. In exchange for a huge monetary reimbursement, the Brigands were released and left, never to be seen again.

Notable PCs: Marten Sorel

Lets get started.
First of all, you need to have a more detailed culture. Just because its new, does not mean you get to skip it. If the planet's culture is individualistic, explain in greater detail the aspects of that individualism. Likewise try adding information daily life, what people eat, what they do for entertainment, and other things to help expand the planet's cultural aspect.

Second, without some kind of development thread the planet can't have cortosis.

Third. Communism is not a government system, its a theoretical socioeconomically system. If its run by a company it should say corporatocracy, or something like that.

Fourth, Being in wild space, the planet won't have all round "state of the art" technological development level. At best its technology will only be modernized in the mining aspect due to the economic interest there, but it will lagging behind everywhere else.

[member="Marten Sorel"], you still need to expand the culture. Right now its below a minimal acceptance, as I said before try adding information daily life, what people eat, what they do for entertainment, and other things to help expand the planet's cultural aspect.
