STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :

+ Force Master - Aida trained under several great masters in the Force, becoming one herself at a young age, and has had many years to hone her abilities; this makes her a formidable ally or opponent.
+ Diplomat - Her previous roles as a Jedi and then as a member of the New Republic (then leader of the Rebel Alliance after the devastation of Taris) have taught Aida much of the art of diplomacy; she is usually very good at getting herself out of situations that she usually got herself into.
+ Determined - Very few things ever get Aida down for long; even when all appears to be lost, Aida will not give up the fight; so far, this stubbornness has kept her alive.

= Trusting - Aida trusts just about everyone she meets until they give her a reason not to. This has led her to gather many allies, but has also led to her being betrayed many times. It can therefore be as big a weakness as it is a strength.
= The Dark Side - Aida has struggled with the dark side many times since embracing the Force and becoming a Jedi. She has even sought shelter with the Sith to hide from enemies and to recover from personal tragedy. It has yet to gain control of her for long, but each struggle becomes longer and harder to win. For now, she comes away from these fights the stronger, but a part of her constantly worries that one day she will fall.

- Force vision - After losing her eyes, Aida refused to replace them with cybernetics and, after studying with a Miraluka, learned to see using the Force. This is all well and good, except when someone has an ysalimir nearby, rendering her completely blind.
- Pacifist - Aida loathes violence and will only fight when she absolutely has to; this frequently leaves her on the defensive and off balance when dealing with people who prefer violent options.
- [member="Kal Strife"] - The only man Aida has ever loved, and possibly her biggest weakness. Kal has been able to talk Aida into all manner of crazy things, and if he was in danger, she would drop everything for him.

APPEARANCE:

There is very little physically impressing about Aida. She is small and slender, with a wide smile, blonde hair, and unseeing blue eyes that can be quite unsettling. She usually prefers Jedi robes to armour or more casual clothing, and is rarely seen without her two lightsabers at her waist. The first thing most people notice about her is the aura that surrounds her, and the calm, confident manner in which she deals with people.

BIOGRAPHY:

Aida was sixteen when the Rebellion came to her.

Born on the water world of Deyer, she was adopted at a young age by a local cantina owner, her parents having died some years previously in a fishing accident. As she grew older, she began to work in the cantina; life was peaceful. One day, when she was still a child, she encountered a robed figure at the bar; he was her first brush with the Jedi. He informed Aida that she was force sensitive; Aida simply refilled his glass and passed on to the next customer, happy to stay on her home world.

Things went downhill on Deyer. The planet suffered under the Empire, until eventually everything Aida knew and loved was changed beyond recognition. The planet became divided into those who were conscripted to serve the Emperor, and those who left to join the Rebellion. With no one left, the cantina broke down; Aida lost her home and her job. With nothing left to stay there for, she took everything she had managed to save and hopped on the first ship heading off world.

Her flight led her to Taris, where she met Dargon Yotam, a Jedi Master who took her under his wing. He introduced her to the Force and helped her join the Jedi, training her both in how to use the Force and in how to uphold the ideals of the Jedi Order. He instilled in her a sense of propriety and a love of order and justice that remains with her to this day.

The second character she met who greatly influenced her was not, in fact, a Jedi. She encountered a pirate by the name of Matrim Nox who opened her eyes to some of the shadier goings-on in the galaxy, teaching her much about life on the other side. This insight was valuable to one learning how to protect others from, well, Matrim Nox and others of his ilk; his easy going nature meant they became fast friends, for Matrim did in fact have principles. Aida was devastated when news reached her that Matrim had been killed.

As her training advanced, Aida undertook the trials and became a Jedi Knight, taking on more duties in the Order. It was clear that her talents lay as a consular, and so she often undertook diplomatic missions, most notably to Adumar, where she was successful in averting all out war and restoring peace to the world. It was on one of these missions that she encountered the Sith Lord, Rani Churs. They fought, however Rani was far more powerful than she, and Aida awoke in a bacta tank on Ziost, Rani's prisoner. Why he saved her instead of leaving her die, she still doesn't know and now, she never will; however his actions in saving her life had formed a bond between them that troubled Aida. Ziost was problematic in other ways, too; it was a dark place, and Aida had her first struggle. She resented Rani for saving her, for placing her in such a situation that she owed him her life; she hated him for being a Sith, for having power over her. Aida almost fell, but the words of her former master, Dargon, and his lessons, helped her through.

Ziost did not entirely have its down sides, however, for it was there she met Kal Strife. Imperial or not, she found herself quickly falling for him, and together they escaped Ziost before parting ways. He was often in her thoughts as Aida struggled with the conflict of loving such a man; he was everything she had vowed to stand against, after all. Still, the heart cares not for such things, and though she never sought him out, she did not forget him, either.

After escaping the clutches of Rani Churs, Aida devoted herself to her training. Her lapse, her near-fall, had frightened her, and she knew she had to become stronger. She apprenticed with several Jedi archaelogists, and encountered Ood Bnar, who shared with her his memories, which she later documented for the archives. He also taught her about her own history, for she learned that her ancestor, Seraea Khan, had previously been a Jedi Master who had helped rebuild the Jedi Order after the events brought about by Revan and the Exile. Aida also came into contact with a familiar name, if not a familiar face: Raine Strife, sister to Kal. The two became fast friends, even though their paths meant they often met and then parted again. Their notable adventures included travelling to the Hapes Consortium and encountering the Jensaarai on their then home planet of Susevfi.

It wasn't long before she faced the dark side again. Following a distress call, as well as her own instincts, Aida returned to her home world of Deyer. She landed there to discover a terrorist was attempting to destroy the flotation devices that kept the islands afloat. If he succeeded, her home would be destroyed; Aida could not let that happen. She gave chase, only to encounter the Dragon, Connor SalSolo, trying to kill her father figure. She managed to divert his attention, to save her 'father's life, but their fight did not end well. Aida was swiftly beaten by the psychotic madman, yet defeating her was not enough for the Dragon. He turned his flamethrower on her, causing severe burns that resulted in her spending several weeks in a bacta tank, but the worst was yet to come, for Connor used Aida's own weapon to burn out her eyes. Blind, burnt and on the verge of death, Aida sent out a call for help through the Force, praying someone would find her before Connor finished the job he had set out to do.

The Force was kind to her; it conveyed her message to the one man who could save her, both from Connor and from herself. Kal Strife arrived in the nick of time, defeating Connor and rescuing Aida. He returned her to the Jedi, and was imprisoned for it. Aida took some time to recover from her injuries, and by the time she was recovered, Kal Strife had joined the Republic and they were ostensibly on the same side, for once. Aida struggled with the dark side once more, fighting the desire to hunt Connor down, to make him pay for what he had done to her, to her world. It was only with support from the Jedi, from her Master, that she was successful in turning her back on the dark side for the second time.

As Kal worked with the Republic, Aida chose to focus on her training. She took on a padawan, a Miraluka named Xel Masaque, and their relationship was mutually beneficial. Xel began his training, proving to be a competent padawan, and Aida was able to reinforce her own beliefs and ideals by teaching them to the young boy. Xel taught Aida how to use the Force to see, and so Aida chose simply to have false eyes rather than cybernetics to replace her originals. This, she believed, would help keep her grounded, help strengthen her in the Force by using it so often. It seemed to have been successful, for Aida soon attained the rank of Jedi Master.

Upon completion of his basic training, Xel parted ways with Aida to receive training from a different master; he was not suited to the life of a consular. Aida took on a new padawan, a young man by the name of Eryk Aiden. Eryk was powerful and learnt quickly, and she found he became a good friend as well as a good student. Their adventures took them across the galaxy, and Aida was glad to have him by her side. Yet the troubles unfolding within the Republic tore at her, and she was soon to return.

On their travels, Aida was soon to encounter, in a cantina of all places, the one time Prex of the CSA, a man by the name of [member="Salem Norongachi"]. They formed an uneasy friendship, mostly consisting of bumping into each other and not killing each other. This friendship was severely tested when Aida disocvered that Salem was the very man who had killed her onetime friend, Matrim Nox. Her initial reaction was one of anger; afraid of brushing the dark side again, Aida chose to distance herself from the Prex. The next time they met one another, she had dealt with the news and was able to greet him as a sort of friend once more.

Aida was content for a time to simply guide Eryk in the ways of the Force, to mould him into a strong Jedi, a future leader; for Aida knew the day would soon come when she had to leave the Order. Eryk worked hard and became a knight in short order. Aida was glad, for this allowed her to turn her attention to their allies, the Republic. She worked alongside Kal to fight against the dark forces, led by Izaak von Schwartzkrieg and his puppet, Geherin Zenos. They did not manage to oust the corrupt figures before von Schwartzkrieg's plan came to fruition; the Republic home world was annihilated, destroyed by shadowmass generators, and Aida fled with a heavy heart. She left the Order then, with barely a word to her confused padawan, and joined with Kal to form the New Rebellion.

Upon Kal's departure, Aida assumed control of the New Rebellion, and led the fight against the Empire. She reached out to the Jedi and was surprised to find that after the devastation of the Republic it was her own former padawan, Eryk Aiden, who had become Grand Master. Their first meeting was tense; Aida was surprised at how quickly Eryk had grown, and yet he truly was a worthy Grand Master. She was proud of him, and saddened by their parting; Eryk in turn was confused and hurt by Aida's departure. They were able to put this behind them and the Jedi Order agreed, under Eryk's guidance, to ally with the New Republic and to fight against the dark heart of the Empire.

Aida did not see Kal again, after he had left; rumour had it that he was headed for Wild Space. He had taken her heart with him, and although Aida guided the Rebellion with compassion and strength, she could not find it in her to love another. Eventually the burden of leadership became too much and Aida, too, handed the leadership off to another and parted ways with the Rebellion. She felt she could not return to the Jedi, after leaving them once, and knew they were in good hands with Eryk; and so she set off alone. In her old, battered ship, the Exodus, she set off for the outer regions to seek more allies, to send them on to the Rebellion.

The Exodus was found several years later, a long-abandoned hulk on a distant moon on the edges of Wild Space. There was no sign of its owner, and many speculated at the time what had happened to a Jedi Master such as Aida Khan. The truth was never uncovered, and her name was eventually consigned to the Jedi records as simply missing in action.
