Image: Couldn't find a good one that fit what the submission is
Intent: To develop an advanced hacking instrument for the Jedi Order
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Aurora Industries

Model: Livewire Armband
Affiliation: The Jedi Order
Modularity: Memory chips can be switched out
Production: Minor
Material: Alusteel, LED display

Description:

At the request of Jedi Master Karr, Taeli and her team at Aurora Industries began development of an armband system that would allow the Jedi Sentinels easier access to hacking and slicing systems in the pursuit of their duties. Thinking about it though, Taeli could also see just how useful this would be for the Jedi as a whole and stepped up production queues to equipment more than just the Sentinels with this.

Equipped with an LED display for the armband on a Jedi’s dominant arm to display the information that they are accessing, this armband also contains a one exabyte memory chip to download and store information that can be removed to add the information to Jedi and Republic databases.

The real magic though is the actual slicing technology itself. The dominant hand armband is equipped with a retractable data spike, not unlike what is found on an astromech droid. This data spike is able to quickly integrate with most computer systems that have such jacks, and when it is begun to be removed, it releases a computer virus that wipes all traces of the hacking.

The offhand armband, linked to the dominant one via an infrared connection, is equipped with a small database that contains different malicious viruses for sabotage purposes of an enemy’s mainframe and anti-virus software to counter viruses registered in the database.

The Jedi must be near the computer system for the hacking to occur of course, meaning discovery is always a risk. The system is also very vulnerable to ion weapons and EMPs, and can also be vulnerable to a security system that is designed to upload viruses the database doesn’t recognize and all data will be lost. The system can also not be used on any computer system that does not have a data jack.

one terabyte memory chip
Id just like to point out this is a really small amount of data in the sw universe, so as advice you could change it to a petabyte or exabytes.

With this been most systems could you explain it's limitations a little bit. Whats the devices limit?

a small IR interface mechanism
could you explain this to me or link me to something cannon that uses this?

Updated memory size to one exabyte

If the system does not have a data jack like what R2-D2 or an astromech can use, or a slot for a computer data spike, it cannot be used on a system.

Removed reference to IR connection point as I could not find a canon use of the technology

Portable terminal that contains some custom slicing routines. Seems fine, but this shouldn't be abused by users as a blank cheque to slice any military system. Many of those will require genuine slicing skill to get anything out of! :)
