OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create an advanced information package for most armors in the galaxy.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Jaeger Solutions
  • Model: HUD-2.1 “Acumen” Helmet System
  • Affiliation: Open Market
  • Modularity: N/A
  • Production: Mass Produced
  • Material: Various Electrical Components
SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:
  • Advanced Information -
    • With enough sensors to turn two eyes into a thousand, The Acumen HUD is able to collect any information about the local vicinity required; even passing said information to the various squad members around the user. This all encompassing view allows for supreme tactical advantage in any situation, which is seen as fundamentally the most important aspect of any battle.
  • Everything Under The Sun -
    • Covering most bases, the system is made to be put in any compatible armor to turn any soldier into a force multiplier. From encrypted comlinks, to breathing appaterus's built in, there is little the system can not make up for.
Weaknesses:
  • Power Intensive -
    • As any system with a serious amount of electronics added on, the system requires an advance suits powersupply to dedicate itself to the system. Without this, the system would be nothing more than a very complicated paperweight, and an overtly expensive one as well.
  • Ion Kryptonite -
    • With no Ion protections in the system, should any assault be made through either EMP or Ion means then the system would be entirely vunerable. Should any attack reach it, there would be no solution to an in field fix lest an outright replacement of the entire system within the armor. An expensive option, but often the only choice to the various aspects of the galaxy.
  • Incompatible -
    • Due to the complicated nature and trademarked design, The Acumen HUD is unable to be put in just any armor system. Without the proper working nature between the designing parties, there is far less systems this could go in compared to more traditional sensor packages; effectively cutting the possible profit of the system.
  • Intrusive Radio Waves -
    • Should the use of scramblers be put in use around the devices, there would be no means to transfer information between soldiers; leave alone direct communications. With the ability to cut much of the unit's effectiveness in half with a simple tactic, this is another glaring weakness of the entire system. To compensate, traditional annunciators and more traditional hand signs must be implemented to make up for the tactile blindness.
  • Anti-Anti-Stealth -
    • While the system provides a plethora of features and options for the would be operator, there are no anti-stealth measures in the device. All would be considerations were considered too expensive for run of the mill, mass production - and thus were removed or downgraded to compensate for costs. That means even the Lifeform Scanner onboard is unable to detect stealthed individuals.

DESCRIPTION

With the entire R&D being under Jaeger Solutions, The Acumen HUD system is an advanced tactile supplement for every soldier on the field. From its sensory information, to its HoloNet enable communications, there is little in terms the system itself is unable to commit itself to should the user be able to afford it.
Although it terms of modern sensor packages, it may not stand out; being just advanced enough to be considered High-Tier and cheap enough to be bought by the many instead of the few. Despite this, there are some glaring issues in terms of quality the systems faces; not in a traditional maintenance idea but in general design flaws.
To reduce costs in production, not only is the system cumbersome for most armor systems, it also requires an insane amount of power to run. This is ignoring the glaring issue of hypersensitivity to Ion attacks and EMPs. While certainly there are more prudent methods of achieving much of the same progress, the system in itself is still able to be used should the wearer create an armor that compliments it, and works for its strengths and against the weaknesses.
That being said, the system is sold for a relatively high price compared to most others; putting it just out of reach of the general customer. Still, to the rich go the spoils, and the quality concerned go The Acumen HUD System and Uplink.
