ACS-603 Mulitpurpose Homing Anti-Tank Round (MHAT)
Intent: To create a cool Primary Tank Round based on RL technology
Development Thread: As needed
Manufacturer: ArmaTech Combat Systems
Model: Mk1
Affiliation: ArmaTech Combat Systems
Modularity: Yes; It can be built in a variety of sizes (60mm to 420mm) and variant warheads
Production: Mass
Material: Baradium, Durasteel, Tungsten-Carbide or EMP explosive, durasteel, and Ionite

Classification: Slug
Length: Variable
Weight: Variable
Special Features:

  • Homing: Its somewhat Guided. Only able to make minor course adjustments, but still.
  • Multipurpose: It is effective against Infantry, Bunkers, Buildings, Light, and medium armored vehicles.
Weaknesses:
  • Ineffective against Heavy Armored Vehicles
  • Only minor course adjustments, not as good as a fire and forget missile
Description:
The MHAT is a powerful tank round, meant to replace standard slugs in ArmaTech Vehicles, granting them more tactical benefits on the battlefield. The key component of the ACS-603 MHAT is its guidance system. It can be from a target lock of the vehicle’s primary targeting system or by a laser guidance designator, feeding the small mirco-computer course information allowing it to use the directional thrusters housed on the round to make minor course corrections. While unable to turn more than 45 degrees in any direction, it can be used to wrap around turns, shot over obstacles, and other similar feats. It lacks a primary thruster, so its range is limited to the weapon that fires it, normally several kilometers.

The warhead itself is easily programmable, allowing the crew to choose between several firing modes, such as point delay, contact, or airburst. Using a baradium primary charge it is a capable anti-personnel weapon, being significantly larger than the average thermal detonator. It features a tungsten penetrator, and fragmentation shredder jackets allowing it to pierce medium and light vehicle armor as well as spraying shrapnel and a baradium explosion across a significant area, while still capable.

The only current variant is an EMP round replacing the baradium primary charge with an EMP explosion and the tungsten penetrator and fragmentation jacket with Ionite, being more effective against droids and electronics, granting the weapon the capability of being a mass driver, and effectively an Ion cannon, as well as allowing the capability to occasionally pierce particle shields assuming they were weak or already damaged. Rarely, if ever will it be able to punch through undamaged shielding.

So this is fairly standard tech, but the variation in sizes is quite a lot. What are you expecting to fire this from? I'd have thought a one shot soldier carried missile launcher, or a main weapon of a tank? Air to ground?

Main weapon of a tank. Its propulsion is based on the weapon firing it as it is a slug, just with some directional thrusters. While it could be air to ground it would be air to ground in the same sense as the J-1 Semi-Autonomous Artillery because its homing is only a 45 degree change.
