DESCRIPTION

The first Hegemonic droid built by a contract won in an auction, the A1 Huntsman promises to be a fantastic addition to any hunting party. The A1 was commissioned by the Beast Hunter’s Guild, but is still available on the open market. In order to make a droid capable of hunting, as was requested, the A1 needed to be able to do the following: be able to track, be able to shoot, be able to carry, and be able to move without being heard.

To begin, Hegemonic Automaton collaborated with some of the more well-traveled members of the Beast Hunter’s Guild in order to formulate a basic game tracking program. Since this is really the first droid module designed to facilitate the tracking of wild animals in nature environments, it is mostly rudimentary in design. The A1 can track most brute beasts and wandering animals on its own, but more elusive prey will often confound it. For more specialized prey, Hegemonic Automaton can update the programming of A1s by request.

Making the droid capable of hitting a target correctly was easily done. The A1 utilizes the NeuroSaav K-64 Targeting System, the same system utilized in Hegemonic Automaton’s more military oriented models. This targeting system was further refined and made more stringent, as to facilitate the A1’s role as a meticulous hunter- not a soldier. The system was also optimized to be more compatible with hunting blaster rifles and slugthrowers.

Since the A1 needed to have some sort of strength to be able to carry off its haul, Hegemonic Automaton saw it fit to install a gyroscopic stabilizer. This device, present in all Hegemonic Automaton droids, increases the strength of the servomotors of the droid it is installed within. Provided it isn’t the size of a Bantha, the A1 can probably carry it off without much problem.

To some, a hunting droid sounds almost oxymoronic. Given that droids are generally clumsy, loud mechanical klutzes. The A1, however, rectifies this with a series of sound dampeners. While they don’t do much to help the A1, say, knocking over a tree or something similarly hilarious, they are extremely helpful in making the droid move silently and muffling the sounds of snapping twigs under its feet. In order for them to function optimally, the droid most move at an extremely slow pace. But the droid has limitless patience, and so this is no problem for it.

Outside of the aforementioned parts, the A1 Huntsman also comes equipped with a Sensorscope and a EnhanceScan General Scanner built in. This allows it to detect a multitude of things that most other hunters would not.

The A1 also benefits from the incredible intelligence capacity of the J2 Droid Brain, making it more adept at critical thinking and problem solving than other droids. This also makes it less susceptible to trickery and being outsmarted. As with all other droids using the J2, this also makes it smarter than most droids on the market, despite being used solely for hunting.

If left for prolonged periods of time without a memory wipe, the A1 will begin to express interest in hunting sapients for sport. It is not actually possible for the A1 to do so, due to incredibly strict protocols built into the programming. Attempts to alter this programming result in the activation of the J2 Droid Brain’s self-destruct mechanism. Testing shows that one in every three dozen A1s will begin referring to itself as “Zaroff” and all organics it frequently works with (regardless of actual name or species) as “Ivan.” Other organics it does not identify as coworkers will be given the designation (regardless of sex or assumed gender) “Mr. Rainsford.”

It is unknown what causes this to occur, and attempts to remove the glitch have been unsuccessful. Projections show that A1s will eventually drop this trait, but the time it takes to do so inexplicably varies among units.

Hegemonic Automaton strongly advises that A1s be memory-wiped regularly. Hegemonic Automaton is not responsible for the actions of A1 Huntsman Droids that achieve sapience. Hegemonic Automaton will not modify you an A1 to be used as an assassin or bounty hunting droid. Please do not ask.
