A Little R&R

Let Me Push That Button
Another job well done, or...well...it gone done.

Perhaps calling it well done wasn't exactly true, though the package had been delivered in the end, and the customer had been mostly pleased. So what if the box had a few burn marks on it? So what if he had caused nearly twelve hundred credits worth of damage to the Fire, the ship was so old that another twelve hundred credits of repair was like dropping a needle into a needle factory.

No one would notice, probably.

Either way, the job got done, and Kurt had been paid.

That was what really mattered in the end. He had credits to burn and a place in mind to burn them. Space stations weren't always great on entertainment, sure there were spots like the wheel that did nothing but entertain, yet by and large most space stations were simply there as rest stops. There would be a few restaurants, a hotel if you were lucky, and every now and again a casino.

Most Space Stations were just waypoints, a place to get fuel and maybe stock up on some candy. However, the station that Kurt had chosen, or rather the station that the customer had chosen to meet on happened to have one of the young pilots favorite places to visit, Yum Bunnies.

It was a restaurant where the waitresses were all rather friendly, the drinks were cheap, and their bantha...wings...were crisp.

Kurt was looking forward to it.

Nartwo.jpg

Boisterous laughter and the sound of clinking glasses could be heard before entering the restaurant. Once inside, it was evident that Yum Bunnies was bustling with people, various sentients mulling around the room, either inebriated or planning to be soon. The smell of alcohol, wine, and mouthwatering food permeated the room along with the thick smoky haze of cigarras. If anyone was looking for a good meal, this would be the place.

Especially those spicy bantha wings.

It only took a casual observer less than three seconds to understand why this particular establishment is dubbed Yum Bunnies. Females of different species: Twi'lek's, Human, Miralans, Zeltrons and Togruta, were dressed in a tiny white shirt with suspenders and tiny black short shorts with the words 'Yum Bun!' scripted across curvy cheeks. This wasn't even including the tiny bunny tail pinned on right above it. All wore heavy makeup, were carrying a large tray, and were busy taking orders from the patrons sitting in the scattered tables.

And you couldn't ignore the large black faux felt fuzzy Lepi ears perched on top of their heads.

One very blessed Togruta with dark mocha skin and bright orange markings over her montrals shone [member="Kurt Meyer"] a wide smile. It was the hostess, and with a joviality of one who had an energy drink one too many, asked with cheer.

"Welcome to Yum Bunnies! Where a good time is just a hop away!" she gave a wiggle.

"How many in the party?"

Some people called this place crass, others called it a waste of space, and still others would just say it was outright trashy.

Kurt preferred to think of it more as easy hunting grounds. Yum Bunnies was of course a chain location, much like McYoda's the restaurant was located all over the galaxy. When he spoke about it, artfully one might add, Kurt always hailed it as an alternative to women who would otherwise end up working in Cantina's as Dancers. Or worse, for the Hutts.

He was almost entirely sure that most women would even agree with him, probably.

"Oh just me." Kurt said as he placed his elbow on the Hostess podium, placing his lined jaw into the palm of his outstretched hand. A wide smile pulled at his lips. "Unless you care to join?"

He was well aware that the line would likely be used on these women every single day, but he couldn't quite help himself in uttering it again. Perhaps it was his constant need to be witty, or maybe he just liked being obnoxious.

Taki Var flashed the scruffy faced scoundrel a cheeky grin.

“Too bad my lunch hour is over,” she quipped back, giving a slight flounce with a crook of her finger to have the man follow her. “Bar or table?” came her next question, fingers sliding over the holographic blueprint of the various tables and bars on Yum Bunnies disposal.

Depending on the type of experience one was going for, you can go for your delightfully tacky yet unrefined atmosphere or head out towards the bar where a broad array of holoscreens would play the running grav ball or Limmie games.

Here the booze kept flowing and the wings were endless. And if one was feeling a bit daring, the Suma Poppin’ Fire coated nuna wings were a Sapient vs Food challenge anyone could go for. Winners would get their holopicture taken and a free Yum Bunnies T-shirt imortalizing them for their bravery -- or more aptly, idiocy.

With a crook of her finger in a come hither motion, Taki would lead the way.

Kurt would follow after the woman, a slight smile on his lips. "Table is fine."

There was really only one sport that he was interested in, and most of the time they didn't play the Tatooine pod races. Most of the time the galaxy didn't really care about Tatooine, even the Boonta Eve Classic wasn't famous galaxy wide. It was a shame really, the sport was quite the sight, especially on Tatooine.

The Togruta woman lead him through the restaurant, moving passed the bar and several full tables.

Each time they passed one of the other waitresses Kurt either waggled his eyebrows or gave the women small, very knowing looks. A few giggled at him, some ignored him, and one rolled her eyes. He simply smiled and moved with the Togruta, eventually finding his table near the back of the restaurant in a nice quiet corner. He moved passed her, gently grazing his palm across the small of her back as slipped into the booth. "Thank you Darlin'."

A hint of a drawl passed from his lips as he sat himself down.

"Lana will be with you shortly, handsome," a parting wink from the Togruta would be a reward for the scoundrel's charm. Leaning over the table, a mocha hand would flick on the holomenu. It would flare up with pomp and circumstance, even a little jingle. Specials of the day would dazzle with miniature holographic pictures. A little bit of gratuitous mammaquatia was just an added benefit.

"You want anything particular for drinks?" They had all the top sellers; Barium Frizz, Corellian Sunrise, Sarlacc Kicker, even the tried and true Reactor Core for those willing to get a bit of spice in them. Straightening, she pulled out a roll of utensils wrapped round a napkin, setting it in front of Kurt.

"Happy hour just started so you came at a great time," indeed, by the cheer over at the bar, it was most definitely happy hour.

His eyebrows raised slightly at the gracious curves that had been delivered to his face, a smile perking up at the corner of his lips as the Togruta slowly drew back and away from him, standing at the side of his table.

"Hmm." Kurt thought outloud, flicking his finger across the holo-screen before shaking his head. "Why don't you surprise me, you seem like a rather intuitive person. I bet you can find something that I like."

He gave her the same charming smile as before.

A cheer rose from the crowd at the bar, likely meaning that one team or another had scored some kind of point in something. Perhaps he should have been more interested, but it was hard to care when there were so many more interesting things all around him, things that came in pairs mostly.

[member="Kurt Meyer"]

"I reckon I've an idea or two." She said, grinning from ear to ear with a cheeky grin. Who would say what the surprise would be? Who knew. For now, the Togruta waitress had him situated comfortably. With a parting wink, Taki left Kurt to relax and enjoy the ambiance. It was a small round table not too far away from the nearby bar, so much so that it would see plenty of foot traffic.

The restaurant continued on with its joyful atmosphere. All around the Tatooine native there were Yum Bunny girls laughing coyly and conversing with the patrons. With the Limmie game at full swing, it was a packed house. Spacers throughout the sector would come here to spend the few credits they owned for a bit of gratuitous ogling. Yum Bunnies was actually a restaurant and cantina chain owned by Arceneau Trade Company. It started out small in the Outer Rim, but with its popularity souring, was now seeing similar chains up and down the Mara.

Wasn't long before a sapphire hued Twi'lek with bright red lipstick and eyes the color of Tatooine's twin suns flashed a welcoming smile at Kurt. "Howdy there," her lekku were decorated in an intriguing tribal design with black ink.

"My name is Lana and I'll be your waitress today!"

Twi'leks had always seemed like an odd bunch to them. Their lekku had always seemed odd to him. Maybe because there had been an incident once with a Captain and where one of her Lekku had been placed, or where she had been trying to place it anyway. Either way, Kurt wasn't one to discriminate based on race, so when the woman flashed her smile his way, he returned it.

"Lovely." He said with not a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

Unlike with many of the patrons in the restaurant there was no ogle in his eye, no leer. He had the look of a man that was simply here to enjoy himself, not stare at the girls around him.

"What would you recommend, Lana?" The name was drawled out, extended somewhat as he looked up at the Twi'lek with big blue eyes, almost a child like charm sticking to him. His elbow would move forward onto the table again, his chin cradling in his palm as he looked up at the woman. "I'm afraid I'm terrible at making decisions that end up well for me."

[member="Kurt Meyer"]

"Terrible ain't too bad. It's the experience that counts."

Lana wouldn't bat an eye. Conversation is what conversation does, and the ladies of Yum Bunnies knew well that the job came with an expectation for it. That and mingling. A girl who could chat up the patrons on her table was keen on making more tips at the end of the day. Not to mention, ain't no harm in a little bit of flirting.

So dear Miss Lana gave a saucy grin, her free hand coming to perch on her curvy hip. The black boy short shorts ran low, barely enough to cover hipbones, the white tight shirt leaving barely an inch of red flesh. With a chuckle, Lana brought up her holographic ordering pad. It was a nifty wrist cuff, with a small holographic display for her to type in the order.

"We've specials on the Nuna wings; Bantha ones are selling quick if your more into some red meat." she went off to spout on the daily specials, "Although the bar-be-que Nuna burger with extra special sauce settles mighty well with one of our drafts."

"Well, I'm afraid I have no idea what I'll be drinking tonight. I was told it was going to be a surprise." He hadn't been told, but there were no points off for the use of poetic language.

Kurt pondered for a few moments about what he felt like eating.

More often than not when he came here he ended up having the same thing. There was a touch of familiarity to this place, and the food was part of that. When you traveled all over the galaxy from planet to planet, meeting different people and eating different things, it helped to come back to something that was the same. For him, that was this restaurant.

Some people might have called that disgusting, but to Kurt it was simply a place with a good view.

"Why don't you get me your favorite." He said finally, blinking up at the Twi'lek. "I'm in the mood for surprises."

[member="Kurt Meyer"]

There was a knowing flash in her bright orange eyes, and her shoulders would shift lightly in amusement.

"Well now," her right palm came to set upon the table, and she too went leaning forward. The tip of her right Lekku would twitch and then curl inward, the Lethan reaching over with her other hand towards the controls of the holomenu.

"I reckon I could help a bit with that." Her finger would sweep to display a particular order, a gentle but confidant stroke.

"How much of a surprise well...that depends on how adventuresome you feel." the suggestion in her voice would paint images in the mind, but the majority of the patrons knew that this was all part of the dine and show. Rules were clear when it came to the Yum Bunnie girls - Look, but don't touch. Well, in the obvious sense of the word. They made their credits by entendre's and innuendo. Not on their backs.

Just because a woman is good at something doesn't necessarily mean its' what she should do in life. If that were the case, most of the women in Yum Bunnies would be hookers. It is common knowledge that Arceneau Trade offers the Companion Guildhouse as a method of providing the 'verse classic and respectable company. After all, Danger's girls make men melt like butter in a pan.

They are equally adept at reversing the process.

A shiver went up his spine, but not because of anything the woman said. It was a reaction of seeing the curl of her Lekku, an unpleasant memory brought forward.

Kurt's head shook for half a second, then he mused to the girl, it was a soft drawling whisper. "I can assure you, Darlin', I love adventures of all sort."

Conversation was something he had always been good at, it was how he had talked his parents into letting him enter the races back on Tatooine, that and the fact that he had crashed their speeder four times. It was something that helped him along in life, though more than once it nearly got him shot by an angry woman with a blaster pistol.

One had to be careful waggling a silver tongue.

"Then I'll work with Taki and get you the sort of bang you lookin" A cheeky flirtatious grin flashed, her lekku quivering and giving a slight twitch as she straightened. "I'll get you the chef's special." she told him, marking that down on her wrist holo.

"I'll be getting you a stack of peanuts," sounded random, and likely would make any person with a peanut allergy wince, but these were the classic go to snack for Yum Bunnies. Only, you had to shell them yourself. One had a build in disposal by the wall or the table that one could toss the shells at, or you could leave them on the floor. There were mouse droids that would pick up the mess. It was made to be delightfully tacky and yet refined.

With a flounce, and a respective shake of her fake lepi puff ball of a tail, the Lethan left, leaving the podracer to his own devices. A basket of those promised peanuts came a few seconds later, with the option of a pickle plate or veggie stack in their stead if requested.

He gave the woman a small nod, pointedly ignoring the slight curl and shiver that ran down her Lekku. Instead he smiled at her, keeping his eyes fixed on her own in a more subtle manner, giving her the attention that she so richly deserved.

When she slowly trailed away, blue eyes followed a fluff of white for half a second before slowly panning towards the table in front of him.

Kurt let out a loud sigh, then leaned back in the small booth. His hand ran through his hair, pushing and parting dark curly strands. A sigh escaped his lips, and some of the tension seemed to drain out of him. He tried to relax, take in the familiar sounds of people chatting, the people at the bar yelling, the odd sounds of ale being placed on the table. It was familiar, it was nice.

It was like he had come home.

Home to his proper hunting ground.

Things seemed to be going pretty normal. By all accounts, Yum Bunnies was a place that everyone would relax and enjoy. Even his Twi'lek waitress was singing 'happy birthday' to a Trandoshian sitting on table to Kurt's right. It seemed to be a normal night for the business, offering a delightful atmosphere with their scantily clad waitresses and equally scrumptious meals.

Fiery hot Bantha wings were delivered with a wink and a smile, joined by a tall pint of the season's best stout, draft of course. "Hope you like it, sugar." Lana would wink, before sauntering off to her next table. It was a good night.

Well, were it not for the increasing belligerence of the birthday boy Trandoshan heavy in his cups...

He had always liked spicy food, or rather it had never really effected him much.

Growing up on Tatooine meant that you had to get used to every kind of heat you could imagine. Heat inside, outside, everywhere. It was a dry, sweat inducing heat that he wouldn't have wished on his own worst enemy. He loved his homeworld, but he knew how miserable it could be at times.

Still, living there had given him the resistance to a great many things, spicy cuisines was one of them.

Kurt dug into the food with a slow, but methodical pace. He didn't quite stuff his mouth, but it was clear that he was hungry for something familiar, something that he could sink his teeth into. He was oddly neat, his hands remaining clean even as the copiously sauced wings attempted to stain both his fingers and clothes. He chewed quickly through them, showing no sign of pain or slowing down.

Remarkable.

If it wasn't for Murphy's law. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

Kurt's dinner would have been enjoyed in relative comfort. Suddenly, the Trandoshian to Kurt's right stood, obviously inebriated to the point of a drunken stupor. Forks and plates went scattering everywhere, and through the cheerful music, tension rose thick as patrons would quiet down. All eyes would draw at the commotion. What was going on?!

"Vaping natka- kloonkee. Woy- …do uba … wa- kae kabee coo Dobra?!" «Vaping tail-head. Do-…do you …have a-any idea who I am?!"»

He made a grab for the young crimson skinned Twi'lek female. She gave a yelp as his clawed hand made contact with her upper arm. He roughly shoved her towards Kurt's table, her body crashing onto him with such a force she would certainly bruise.

The food he had been eating dropped from his hands, his arms stretched out, his sauce covered fingers caught the girl as she fell. Her head lashed about, and for half a second it looked as though the back of it would go smacking into the side of the steel table. Before that could happen however, Kurt drew her closer, pulling her into a tight embrace as though she had just sprawled across his lap.

"Well Darlin'." Alric said to her, his face just an inch from her own. "If you wanted to get this close, all you had to do was ask."

The girl's eyes were full of terror, but not because of him.

The Trandoshan that had so unjustly assaulted her stood above her and Kurt, his massive form looming and casting a shadow over the Courier and his new found lady in distress. He turned his head, shifting his focus to the giant lizard that hovered above him. It's teeth were barred, his hand already gripping a blaster at his side, and his beady black eyes staring down at the Twi'lek in Kurt's arms. "'Scuse me mate, I'm trying to have a conversation here."

There was no hint of fear in his tone.

[member="Kurt Meyer"]

"Now now... ain't no need to stir any kind of racket Skar," a new voice piped in with a coaxing drawl. But by then it was too late.

Skar gave a roar of anger, causing the surrounding Yum Bunny waitresses and patrons to flee away in panic. In that next instant, he closed the meter distance between him and Kurt with uncanny speed. A large beefy hand curled into a fist, pulling back behind his head before rocketing forward with a powerful punch, attempting to making contact with Kurt's face. The force of the impact would be strong enough to potentially knock the Tatooine native back. It fully intended to send him flying backwards onto his table and ruined meal.

Unknowingly, Kurt had caught the attention of the Sector's seven time Champion pugilist, Skar Ali -- and was well on his way to potentially becoming a recipient of his famous knock-out punch… his signature finishing move.

Time slowed. A female voice gave a curse; there were screams and then...
