A Festival Under the Stars (Open to All)

Night-in-Lyon2.jpg
[SIZE=14.6667px]A new festival, a new holiday for the planet and for all those that would take a place in the Confederacy of the Outer Rim, one that was undoubtedly needed after the countless and numerous times of destruction. The Galaxy would have many things in it that would be nothing but pain, but today Solan had decided and enacted a single day when he would see that happen no longer. A day where people could enjoy life and see themselves without the burdens they held so tightly. He hated seeing that. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=14.6667px]His hands crossed behind him as what was once thought up as a ball had been expanded. Tahv was busier than it had ever been before, its streets were filled with people, their were bright lights lining the streets and the Circle Eternal was open with its view of the stars unobstructed by lights, creating a spectacular view of the stars. Solan had ordered fireworks prepared and this celebration’s highpoint would be this night as it had been going on and being prepared for several days now. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=14.6667px]The entire thing was a place for people to relax, there would be no fighting today if he had anything to say about it. The event broadcasted throughout the galaxy, a night of peace, beauty, serene and clean air that held excitement and wonder. There remained first the Circle Eternal, a garden of absolute beauty with as little light as possible. It contained numerous flowers and flora of uncountable variety with the glow of small insects filling the air of the once public garden. The fountain letting a cool jet of water into the air and collecting as the statues stood with a watchful and peaceful gaze. [/SIZE]
(Gonna have to imagine this one... no Pictures fit my dream of this place.)
[SIZE=14.6667px]The main streets, filled by shops and stands, selling all kinds of merchandise from flowers, to food, to clothing and masks. The lights adorning the buildings glowed softly and crossed over the streets like stars themselves. The scents of the air, a gentle breeze letting the scents of food and the crisp night air flow softly over those occupying the streets. Pulling at the strings of people’s hearts and loosening their muscles. The Starports, busy constantly in the past day were shut down for the night in Tahv at least, airfields and transport cleared several miles away in order to not obstruct the view of anyone whom would look up and see the stars above which which the Festival got its name.[/SIZE]
IMG_0747-1024x768.jpg
[SIZE=14.6667px]A Ball in the palace for those of which saw themselves as to be here for a more stately way of celebration. Its doors were opened for those of which saw themselves, though it was not the only place that would hear the sounds of soft music for which set the peaceful mood. Great forums, normally cluttered by traffic and raging mobs were cleared out to allow for a much greater expanse for dancing. The sound of the many songs carried on that same crisp night air, out of the palace itself and through the very people that swarmed over the city for this event. [/SIZE]
316407309_3b7fbd3dbb_z.jpg
[SIZE=14.6667px]The plains outside the city open and watched, with all kinds of different things to find as well as the river that ran near the city filled with ancient styled boats for which people to be alone and together. Crafted wooden with very little more about them to be held. Simple two an ships that would be useable by any as long as they could find one. The flow of the water bringing them calmly down it to be alone and together under the sky. The water itself was as cool as the night air, calm and only the ripple of the boats disturbing it. [/SIZE]
river-lantern-festival%20%283%29.jpg

[SIZE=14.6667px]Solan all the while stood on a balcony outside the main hall where the ball portion of this festival would be held, his eyes cutting over the city, the city of glass. An ancient and maintained city in its own right, filled with life that had been missing from it for hundreds of years and now he smiled as his head came down on his hands and his back arched over. It was all perfect now, a place where for at least one night anyone can come and enjoy. His men were ordered to keep the peace and nothing more, he would not see violence tonight and if there were any problems he would deal with them himself. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=14.6667px]OOC Spoiler[/SIZE]
The Reason for the thread is simple, HAVE FUN.
Seriously i leave the city of Tahv and the festival of the stars for all of you to have fun with. Yes its not a super awesome action filled or a intrigue heavy ball but there does remain the one single point that we all need a break from drama so how about something where you can do what ever. Go get drunk, dance with someone, enjoy a night with a special someone to your character on the River. The point of leaving this open was to let people craft their own stories and enjoy the thing we all love about festivals.
Its a night under the stars, craft a story that is fun or beautiful, or both. All Factions and people are invited.
Ps. This is taking the place of this Ball on Kesh Thread, so as promised those who signed up there will be tagged now. Sorry for the change of plans. Oh and not necessary but if you could post where you are at the beginning of your post, it will help people know where you are.

What once was a ball was now a full fledged festival. [member="Solan Charr"] had really outdone himself. But then again this was the first such event that he's held that Kay had ever been invited to. So she could only guess at what the others might have been like.

Deciding what to wear wasn't too difficult. She only had a few dresses, for with all of her recent activities, she's not had much time to shop. So she chose her pretty green one. It was fancy, but hopefully not too fancy this time. And it was warm enough to allow her to venture outside.

1429195dec33a2e62be01bfd3e1bb48f.jpg

And it was outside where one would find her. Kay was still recovering from her capture by the Hutt Cartel, but she was getting better. She kept her blaster inside of her satchel again, instead of within easy reach. And for tonight's festivities, surprisingly, she had left her satchel in her quarters. Usually it never left her side, but she was going out on a limb here and really putting in an effort to get better.

So she sat in the garden by one of the fountains, holding a cold virgin fruity drink in a glass flute in her hand. Her other hand held a credit coin. Some fountains were said to have wish granting powers, or at least that's what children believed and tonight, as she was out of her element, she felt almost like a child herself. And so after making a wish, silently hoping that everything will turn out alright, Kay tosses the coin into the water and watched it as it sunk to the bottom.

Soon others would arrive and so she enjoyed the quiet until then.

Golden lamps dotted the river and paved the way for their boat to pass. Jedi Padawan of Ossus, Jay Masaki, was at the oar. Guiding the serpent boat down the river at a soft, endless pace. Together with [member="Emma Prinn"] from the Silver Sanctum. They had escaped Master Bae for a few eager moments of peace.

"Really? I mean. I hear she can quite enchanting? Something far removed from what you experienced. I'm sure."

Prinn sat at the front of the boat, staring aimlessly off into the distance. Embracing the festival in her own amber way and thinking about the past,

"She is Shaun. In her own strange way. Careful and confident. Always radiating control. It was splendid at first. Perfectly poised and strong. But. That was before the fighting starting. Before she became something terrible."

Shaun turned the rudder with understanding and nodded to the sky,

"Mm. Then you discovered how terrible even a Dark Jedi's power can be."

"Yes. So many dead. Torn apart and cast aside. It was... Horrible. War. Right in front of me. I froze. I collapsed. ...I couldn't be like her. ...I won't be like her."

"You don't have to, ya know. Not every Master is a tornado."

Emma nodded and let the silence linger just a moment. Thinking about that comment before speaking.

"Jay. Can the Jedi really win the war?"

"Sure. Sure we can. But sometimes winning a war isn't about fighting. I spent much of my life advising the Queen exactly that. There are many different ways on how to fight. Not just killing people."

Prinn ran a slender hand threw her brown hair. She wanted to believe that.

"I want to help Jay. I want to win the war. But..."

"You don't want to fight fire with fire. Become like them."

"Yes. I don't want to become like her."

Jay nodded and looked to the fireworks in the sky. A beautiful night for such a somber topic.

"You're a smart girl Prinn. You don't have to become just another soldier. Healing, talking, making deals, even just inventing things. These help people too. Not every Jedi is cut out from the same cloth. Sometimes your destiny lies along a far and misunderstood path. And only you can find it."

Jay stood up and guided the boat into harbor. Just off the casino's peer. Letting the soft current thrust them forward. He cast the rope onto the deck and hoped off. Giving Emma hand as he nodded,

"I think your destiny lies somewhere far away from the battlefield Emma Prinn. But that doesn't make it any less powerful. Or, any less important. You've got to win your own war, before you starting contemplating this one."

Emma blushed at his soft tone. Letting the taller man lift her up to the shore.

"Well. I hope your right Master Masaki. Maybe I have been keeping to, too deep of thoughts lately. Worrying too much about the future."

"Ah. Well. That can happen. ...A wise monk once said, always in the present our journey is. Keep your eyes on what you are doing. Stay in the present. Heh. Good advice, yeah?"

Prinn giggled at his tone. Everybody knows a Yoda voice, after all.

"Right. And so?.. Just what is our present, Master Jay? Hmm?"

"Ha. Why, that's easy? We are escaping Master Tao's iron grip of padawan supervision and escaping to the refreshment of the Red Dragon Club. A heroic plan? Wouldn't you say?"

"Indeed. Shall we?"

She offered the man her arm and together they quietly escaped the pier. Wandering off into the night to make it young again. Two of a kind. They would enjoy the festival immensely.

He supposed he was always up for a party....

The Jedi Master had shown up wearing a full blown suit, black, with a white shirt. He still wore his combat boots under the pants, but nothing that anyone would notice with the pantlegs covering most of them. He'd been invited here, but by whom, he honestly wasn't sure. He didn't recognize anyone at the party, he noted, as he would walk around. If it was a bore for too long, he'd likely just leave.

But he couldn't resist at least trying.

Solan let his feet carry him through the home he so loved, smiling at those whom attended the ball, to those that worked even tonight. He hated having them work but he promised to pay them twice as much as normally. If he was going to ask them to work he would not do so without compensation for missing such events themselves. He was cucrious if any of the Covenant like [member="Darth Venefica"] or [member="Darth Veles"] had come to the city while they occupied it, having met them and the woman [member="Darth Timoris"] the days before at the spires. And even if they had it was unlikely so. There was also those of [member="Nyx"] he had invited to here, knowing that she of all people needed someone to be there and a time to relax. If she had come she would know where to find him and that would be in the Circle Eternal.

Entering the somewhat public gardens for which that he loved he let his eyes turn in his head, staring over the numerous faces and minds before him until he noticed a certain woman sitting by a fountain and laughed a bit on the inside. Walking slowly his feet came down and his hands were still crossed behind him as he moved up beside the fountain she sat near. "You know, littering is horrible for the environment right. I really thought you of all people would know that." He smiled and glanced at [member="Lady Kay"] as he stood there. He considered the woman a friend as close as [member="Taeli Raaf"] or [member="Geneviève Lasedri"], both of which he invited as well to enjoy a quiet and beautiful night. He was curious though if the former of the two would bring someone she felt rather close to. The thought caused him to smile at seeing his friend actually going around with someone whom she cared for. That would be interesting. "Also, you know if you keep on showing up here i might just have to build you a shack in this place. This is quite often we seem to meet and im starting to suspect you just like the gardens i make."

Eclipse didn't really know what she was doing at this party. The majority of those attending seemed to be wealthy and well known throughout the Galaxy. She had actually been invited as an old friend’s plus one. It hadn't taken long for her ‘friend’ to be taken away from her and become distracted with some of the other festival attendees. As usual, Eclipse was alone. Luckily for her she was used to being alone and seem to enjoy her own thoughts above the the presence of other people. She had retreated from the ball room earlier that night as the volume of snobbery inside agitated her.

While most of the females present wore lavish dresses covered in jewels and sequins, Eclipse wore a tuxedo which would’ve probably looked better suited if it was fitted on a male. But Eclipse didn't care, she didn't even own it, it was borrowed from the same friend who invited her to the party turned festival. It was no secret that Eclipse hated wearing clothing that was considered “feminine” and therefore she considered herself lucky that her friend had this outfit spare. Even though she honestly didn’t care, her outfit and looks didn't turn a few heads. Anybody who tried to approach her or start a conversation was only replied with silence and her blank face. She wasn't looking for company.

Soon enough her short exploration of the area ended at an exquisite garden of seemingly impossible beauty. Hopefully, she would be able to find a quiet place to sit and be left alone with her thoughts. This was unlikely and as she search the area for what she desired one question continuously ringed inside of her head; ‘Why am I even at a social event?’

It was a restaurant attached on the second story of a grand casino. Colorful and bright deep into the evening. Jay and Emma found a table that overlooked the Great Hall from whence they had entered. Sitting down and taking in the view. Jay ordered a bottle of wine and Emma browsed the appetizers. Only minutes later they were gossiping about the Jedi Temples and enjoying a fine drink,

"Right. And so then she says to me? Sir. The Library is off limits to telephone calls. Please take your conversation outside. Haha."

"Oh gosh. She didn't even realize it was one of those talk computers, did she? Hehe."

"No. I know right. She didn't even notice that the computer was supposed to talk back in my own tone of voice. Haha. So funny."

"Oh man. Masters, eh? They think they know it all."

"Right? The craziness. Totally."

Jay took another sip of his glass and looked down at the entrance below. It was late and many of the patrons left to the eatery were night owls. Much like himself. They had even begun to close up half of the seating tables in preparation for a long night ahead. Keeping half the restaurant open to the musing public. Perfect for a festival. Emma smiled as their waiter returned with their food. Finally, the main course. They both dug in and let the small talk slide. A side effect of having great food.

"So Jay? Tell me. What's next for the Padawan who's done it all?"

"Ah. Art, really. Painting and the like. I couldn't find my book in the Jedi library either. ...So? I suppose that with all my down time this year, I'll just have to write a new one."

"You wrote a book on Holographic Design, right? For the Coruscanti Regent University."

"Yeah. But I think it's lost to time at this point. Meh."

"That makes sense then. Much of Coruscant's Net Archives were lost during the Long Night. If it weren't for the Jedi who ran about six years ago? Most of it still would be."

"I know. It's crazy. Like you guys rebuilt the whole galaxy just, over night. Started over as the Plague ended. It's... Really something. I'll tell ya. I don't think I could have regrouped so quickly."

"Well. Will you be able to write your book again?"

"Sure. I just hope somebody will buy it again this time around. Haha. I could use the padding."

"Hehe. Couldn't we all."

Emma smiled and took another bite. Playing with her food as she nodded to herself. She liked Jay. There was something so childish about his behavior. Something so easy and flowing. Amber and sincere. If only playful and aloof in his humor. It was a nice contrast to so many of her peers who sent their time brooding over the war. Though. She never thought Masaki would actually be any good at serious conversation. Jay just seemed to whimsical for that. Which was probably why she was so delighted to discover he had a brain after all.

Masaki seemed to know what she was thinking. So he winked at her and played with his fork jovially. He was a kid at heart and didn't mind that showing through. Besides? As far as Jedi duties go tonight? He considered himself, on vacation.

Oh yeah.

Kay stood as [member="Solan Charr"] arrived and smiled at his funny statements. "Littering may be bad, but wishmaking is not." She took a tiny sip of the fruity drink in her hand. "I must say though that living in these gardens that you make would be lovely, but it'd be a busy place with all of these people passing through. Whenever would I get some privacy?" She gestured with her hand to those that have attended thus far and winked.

It was while she was glancing through the attendees that she spotted [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] . She had heard of him and his position amongst the Jedi. There was a matter that she needed to discuss with him, but wasn't quite sure if this was the time or place. It was important though. Lives as always were at stake when it came to Kay's crusade against oppression and slavery.

She looked to Solan and whispered, "I think that everyone out here in the gardens are just hiding from being forced to dance." Kay could count herself on that list as she had what seemed to be two left feet when it came to dancing.

[member="Lady Kay"]

"Can i perhaps assume that you are one of those whom are hiding from such a fate. If so you must know that i will make the request you do join me out there." He smiled at her as her hand reached out with his hand and waited to see just how she reacted to the offer. His hand would hover in the air, gloved as always, long sleeves hiding any bit of flesh as his eyes focused on her and he waited for her to react or not. His own eyes had captured Joshua as he had passed him earlier though he did not bring up a conversation with the Jedi as of yet.

What to wear, Faith was staring at a dress. “You say my cousin Claire sent this” Faith tilted her head again, “she really thinks this is a dress for me”

Faith stepped towards it again, she would admit the fabric felt good, she would admit that the color was pretty, but the sleeves looked like she should be flapping them and taking off.

Faith looked over, “We are meeting people tonight that we must make an impression on, THAT” Faith stared at it again. That was when one of her ladies stepped towards her. “Princess the dress is in the style of Alderaan, your family crest will be displayed beautifully on it. Surely for a few hours you can wear it” It was a dress, Faith wore dresses most of the time but she longed to wear a pair of slacks and a shirt. Something that made her feel warm and fuzzy, but she would wear it, and be grateful to have it.

Faith felt herself growing smaller even as she looked at Monnikca, “fine..”

Later with her hair twisted to bring it into some kind of control that was when Faith made her entrance into the Festival. She knew no one but she was hoping to change that.

She hesitated a little. Oh yes, she was avoiding it. But more so to save her dance partner's feet. The last time and only time that she had ever danced with a partner was at her wedding, and that produced a few 'ouches' and chuckles.

In the end though, she took his hand. "I hope that you wore strong shoes, my friend. I can't promise that they won't be stepped on, but I will try." Her other hand still held her drink, to which she gave to one of his waiting staff. Poor Solan. Kay might look like she should be graceful, but when it came to dancing, she thought too much about it and so she always appeared stiff.

Hiding from being forced to dance was exactly what Joshua had been doing. The only person he recognized was [member="Solan Charr"], he noted as he peeked from the gardens at the poor dancing guy. And he was pretty sure Solan didn't like him all that much. He wasn't sure if he was comfortable being brought into a dance with nobody around that the Jedi Master knew or could trust.

Perhaps that was just his trust issues getting in the way?

Solan only smiled as she spoke and took her hand lightly to pull her over towards a less peaceful area. There were others dancing sure, but his eyes watched her slight hesitation before giving her a simple smile with nothing further than it while he led her to the main hall. "Don't worry Kay, if i cared about getting hurt i wouldn't have the burns i do. Though, it would be thankful if you didn't step on them." He smiled at her as the gloved hand turned in order to get them to face eachother before presenting her with the similarly gloved hand that was not occupied. "Plus, who ever said i knew how to either. I was a mercenary before a king." His smile remained and his eyes showed their dark blue color instead of the corrupted iris' that normally showed on his face.

Well at least he was understanding. And thank goodness there were others dancing as the last thing that she had wanted was to be the only pair up there. Kay faced him and held his hand, while her other rested on his shoulder. "Here goes nothing....."

The music had already started and the song had a pleasant yet elegant rhythm to it that was easy to dance to. Kay would meet his gaze from time to time, but most of the time she watched her feet, trying to match his movements as he led, and doing her best not to step on him.

[member="Solan Charr"]

[member="Lady Kay"]

He just smiled as he immediately noticed her worry about stepping on his feet and spoke as they moved with one hand on the small of her back while he held the other hand. "Kay, just focus on me and don't worry about it, the more you worry the more you will think about it." He would continue without a word or shift in expression past a smile if she ever stepped on his feet. He had no reason to futher worry his friend and put her down with simple mistakes in an activity that many probably did not know how to do. It was a formal thing sure, something that most in higher society knew but otherwise it was a rare thing to know just exactly how to move in conjunction with their partner and Solan simply helped her best he could by saying nothing and only smiling as the music flowed throughout the room and into their ears.

Almost reluctantly Kay looked up and tried to focus on him, wincing for him every now and then when she stepped on him. But over time it began to get a lot easier. The subtle shifting of his arms and hips gave her a hint of where he was going to step next, allowing her time to counter or move along with him. It was almost like her sparring practice that she had not too long ago. Her eyes never wandered from his face. She would study his nose, his cheeks, his hair, everything but his eyes. It was a shame that she couldn't heal them fully.

No sooner had the song begun than it had ended. She let go of his hand and shoulder in order to applaud the singer and band, not sure if she was going to be made to dance more, or if they were to part ways. The duties of a host could be calling him.

Lao Tzu had walked past the shops. He had walked past the Ball. He walked past the crowds. He walked past various people with various backgrounds. He walked past them all. And up to the river. He was a loner even in the crowds. And even when he was alone. From his backpack he removed a number of what appeared to be small boats. He lite a light in the middle of them. He took the first one, and pulling a old feathered brush from his pocket he painted a name on it, Sun Tzu, and placed it on the river. Ever so gently. For a brief moment he watched it float off.

He grabbed the second one, and painted a word on it, Mother. He then placed it in the water and watched it float off.

He then grabbed the last one, and painted a name on it. He placed it in the water. He put his old feathered brush back in his pocket and turned and started back for the Starport.

The last one floating away, had a singular name....Lao Tzu.....

[member="Lady Kay"] [member="Eclipse"]

He smiled once they were finished with the song and turned his attention to the band themselves, clapping lightly as his mind drifted and he thought for a moment about something else. "If you would excuse me Kay, there are others that i should greet and make sure are having a good time..." He paused for a moment and then looked at Kay with a small smile on his face and placed a thand on her shoulder as he stood there. "And hey, i dont know what ou were talking about but that dance was superb. You made me worry that you had two left feet or something." He grinned for a moment before heading to look about the area, a quick wave at her though as he left.

Solan's feet carried him back to the garden as his hands crossed behind him, drifting from person to person and returning small hellos. He honestly knew very few of the people here and he didnt make and effort to know them all either. It was good to have connections but there was more to him than simply business and only business. Solan's eyes continued to travvel over those around him until his feet halted and he looked on at the one a small distance off. "I must say miss, you are a different sight compared to those others here."

At first, the lone girl didn't realise that someobdy was speaking to her. It only came apparent when her peripheral vision caught sight of his moving mouth. In a haze from being pulled from her daydream and stumbling over her words as she hadn't heard the majority of what had been said, Eclipse replied to the man. "W-w-what do you mean?" As she brushed a few strands of her short hair from her eyesight, she wondered to herself what he must've meant.

Did he know that she was not like the other and was probably considered the 'scum of the Galaxy'? Or perhaps he knew who she was, could he be a bounty hunter? Eclipse was worried, she didn't know what was going to happen. Even with this swirling hive of emotions in her head, she tried to cover it on the outside. These ideas she thought of were mostly likely to be completely untrue, but she had always been a paranoid person.

[member="Eclipse"]

He looked at her a bit more closely and smiled as her emotions flared for a moment before she tried to cover them up. With a shrug he spoke again and looked over a near by set of flowers. "Well, that you could look so entrancing in a suit, nearly everyone here would not be able to pull that off so i give you credit for that." He said it without looking at her, without even truly grinning as the only emotion on his face was a calmness, a surety that seemed to be rather soft. He said it as if it were a passing thought and not even an attempt to get her attention or to woo her. It was an observation in the way he said it.

"I do hope you are enjoying the festival, its a rather special event for my people, something that i had only hoped would be this beautiful a night." He looked on at the flowers still and knelt down touch the stem to allow its growth a bit more before pulling it from the rest of its form. "Oh right, im Solan Charr, a pleasure to have you in my home." His head turned as he reached up and handed her the violet colored flower in his hand, smiling at her this time, sapphire eyes staring at her in conjunction with the smile.
