Description: The Æ pattern personal shield Generator comes in two stock standard forms, the first and more common of the two being a Ray shield, which is apt at protecting the user from bolts of energy, plasma, heat, energy and to a lesser extent radiation. While the other variant, employing a particle shield instead, protects the wearer from physical impacts moving above a certain velocity be they punches or kicks to sword strikes and scatter gun shots. The system works on a simple button press on the devise which is made to be compatible and easily integrate-able with other systems and devices. Pressing the button will wrap the user's body and items in direct physical contact in a one way protective field of dim translucent coloured light which appear like barely visible holographic hexagonal panels. When struck, the surface of the shield becomes more visible from the point of impact as it will ripple across the surface, either blue (ray) or purple (particle) as the shield absorbs the energy and diffuses it across its surface.

The Æ pattern personal shield generator provides a modest boost to defensive capability, using a slim and hardly detectable Neutrino Radiator in order to aid with the dispersion of energy across the shield face and help prevent the shield from reaching critical mass by converting the excess absorbed energy into Neutrinos, meaning that the shield, like many other shields, has a slight regenerative quality should it not sustain repeated damage... However, this process can be overloaded with sufficient damage in a short time-frame. Repeated contact with sources of significant strength such as a light-saber, heavy blasters or being hit by something with high impact force in the case of the particle shield will deplete the shield rapidly, able to sustain no more than a couple of blows before a safety cut off switch powers off the shield to avoid it from short circuiting.

However, while off, the personal shield is never truly inactive unless shut down by EMP, the Æ pattern personal shield Generator implements a charging mechanism while in more like a sleep mode, which uses a very low, barely register-able application of its own shields absorption ability to recharge the shield over time by absorbing the latent energy in the area around it while de-activating the Neutrino Radiator which would normally recycle the energy into the environment. Recharge to the point of allowing a person to reactivate the shield again after it has shorted out takes approximately a minute in high energy areas and a few minutes otherwise.
 
Very innovative re-imagination of the Molecular shield with pretty big trade-offs. Just a few things to address.

This doesn't exactly make sense - how is it absorbing kinetic energy without being active? Unlike thermal, electrical, or other forms of non-physical energy, this doesn't radiate outwards as a ray of energy that could be siphoned off and recycled.

I'd like to see this time changed to something more vague, if not higher. This is relatively quick, much faster than a molecular shield modified to recharge a power cell might work. Perhaps something along the lines of "The shield, when inactive, absorbs thermal, electrical, and electromagnetic energy over time from its immediate proximity to recharge the power cell, this may take a minimum of roughly a minute (when exposed to high doses of energy), and several minutes on average."

And the idea is that the machine is never truly 'off' shields block what they block by absorbing the energy and transferring it across their surface while they have systems which diffuse the stored energy to stop the shield reaching a critical mass. I just thought, that, if that effect was active to such a minor extent (that the barrier would neither be visible, or even really DO anything) that could be purposed to charge the battery. Kinda getting 2 functions out of the same thing. As the particle shield only absorbs kinetic energy it would be charged by motion and things moving through where the shield would be to charge it, while the ray shield is charged by heat or electricity etc moving through where the shield would be to charge it.

-based solely on assumptions from various wiki articles. (I am going to add some hyperlinks to things. :) )

A molecular shield absorbs energy directly on contact with an activated protective shield, not latent spare energy that happens to be passing by. It directly absorbs a portion of what hits it (or in some cases, all/the majority) and recycles that power into another outlet, which if engineered correctly could be the shield itself (though that could cause it to overcharge if exposed to something like force lightning).

I'm totally fine with being able to recharge while the shield isn't up and actively protecting, but if this is going to actively charge via contact with the shield a la molecular shielding I will need 10 posts of development and production dropped to limited.
